Room was quiet, no hall noise. Best if you know a little French.

Nice lobby. Everything but the nice looking lobby! Bad! Stay away! Your better off at a motel than this place!

decent basic hotel in a good location, quite expensive relative to comparable hotels.

I stayed at Le Nouvel Hotel and Spa this past weekend (Friday - Sunday). I was excited about our $$/Two Nights). We stayed in a standard King room (which we had changed to after they "accidentally" assigned us to a standard two-double bed room). Before I purchased the room for the weekend I had checked out the hotel on their website. The photos seemed very nice, and I was sure we had gotten a good deal. Upon arrival we quickly realized how "dated" and "cheap" everything was. The lobby is nice, the location is nice, and that's it. Nothing more. The rooms look like they haven't been updated since 1980, it was tiny and lacking in necessities (such as a bar fridge, which is nearly standard anywhere in that price range). Also, the additional lock on the door was broken. Literally, the only good thing about this hotel is the location. If I had paid $$$ less, I would have been satisfied. But for the money, I expected a lot more. I could have easily spent an extra $$/night to stay elsewhere in the same location (downtown Montreal). I'm more upset with the Nouvel Hotel website for their lack of (proper) imagery and details on their rooms. Very misleading. For the money, you'd be better off staying at a Travelodge, or some kind of motel. That's would be a close comparison to this "hotel'.

Like I said before, they upgraded me to a studio apartment at no extra cost and I thought that was spectacular since I had major inconveniences with my travels on American Airline which is a whole different story.

Stayed here for a couple of nights in early September 2008. Rooms are large, location is a bit off the nightlife district, so if you're into dining out a lot and don't have a car you're in for a goodly walk. This a no-frills hotel, but I must say I did not try out the Spa, which they bill as a major part of their re-inventing themselves. Two things were a turn-off: the outrageously expensive buffet breakfast ($15 pp for a pretty measly "buffet"), and the fact that they charge hotel guests for using the underground parking garage. They do give you free Wi-Fi, which is pretty fast. The place was clean, and smelled fine. All in all acceptable. It's not the Ritz, but you're paying under $*** a night, so don't expect more.

We took our grandson as a present for his 13th birthday. Quite successful

We chose this hotel because the rooms looked comfortable, the location looked good, and it had full breakfast included-as well as a great review from another traveler. We got a studio room with a king bed and sleeper sofa. The room itself was great--spacious and with a proper kitchenette. The beds were not comfortable...both the king bed and the sleeper sofa felt 'lumpy," which was suprising because all of the upholstery in the room looked very new and quite fresh. The location of the hotel is good, and it is within walking distance of a number of great attractions and museums. The staff seemed in need of training. When we checked in, they gave us our room keys and pointed us toward the elevators (language was not at issue as we speak French and English). When we got to what should have been our floor, we couldn't find our number so went back downstairs to inquire. We were pointed by the same person toward an entirely different entrance with separate elevators and did eventually find our room there. The first morning of our stay we inquired at reception about the full breakfast that was listed on our reservation and were told that there was no such thing. We showed our travelocity reservation to the receptionist and only then did she tell us where it was. When we returned to our room each day, we had to return to the desk to get our room keys recoded because they apparently kept coding them for one day only though we were prepaid. Parking in the hotel lot was $$per day. Internet access was $$ per day (listed as an amenity). The little inconveniences added up for us and, though we prepaid, we left the hotel a day early.

The hotel was very nice. We stayed in the Admiral Lofts, very nice. However, a free continental breakfast was suppose to be included in the package. I called the reception desk gave them my room number and explained the siuation I was told to just show the staff in the resturant my card. I did this, come to find out it was a gold card, I figure when the reception desk told me to show my card it was my room key card, and there was no record of this on my information statement at the front desk. So I never ended up receiving my free breakfast, had to pay $15 for one piece of toast, watermelon, and water. I was a little annoyed. Further more, the person at the reception desk should have flagged that I did not have a free breakfast coming when I called down and gave the room number. I also felt as though they should have said, show the resturant your "gold card" not "your card." As your room key is a card.

I have had a lot of facials in my life, and this was by far the worst! The extraction was so painful I had tears running down my cheeks. After the mask, she rinsed my face with water, put on a dab of moisturizer and sent me on my way. I left with mask still on my face! Avoid the spa!

No direct shuttle to/from the airport. I booked a specific type of room, but they didn't have any available when I got there, and they really didn't do anything to work it out. Good location, Ok part of town. Pool was closed. I called down to the reception desk to get something, and instead of helping me out, they told me there was a pharmacy down the street.

Nice downtown Montreal location within a few blocks from a metro station. The only hotel amenity I used was the fitness room. It is located in a far away corner of the basement. It has two bikes, a treadmill, free weights, and a weight machine. Very basic but serviceable.

The hotel represented a great value, particularly for the price. It was truly excellent!

The hotel is a close walk to Ste Catherine Street where a wide variety of restaurants (Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Italian , etc) are available. Just 3-4 minutes walk to Guy-Concordia Metro station where you can catch the subway to any other places of attraction. The Jean Coutu on Ste Catherine was excellent if you need something fast. A little convenience store right across the street from the hotel also provides fresh made deli sandwiches for a quick snack or even cheaper breakfast.

Great location in Montreal for shopping and going out at night, just but don't expect luxury. Very clean, try to get a room as hight as possible to reduce street noise.

The location is ok. Check-in counter [...] was friendly and professional but the lady in the parking booth was nasty and the parking fee seems to be a little bit high (15$/24hr). Neighbor rooms were very noisy. This hotel seems has no security allowing multi rooms partying making a lot of noises. You could hear knocking of doors around 2 to 3 AM. If you want to party... this is the hotel but if you want good night sleep, better look for another hotel.

Pros: Very large room, well equipped (desk, chairs), no refrigerator, though. Prime location in downtown Montreal. Cons: You have to pay for spa, and pool which by the way are closed when you need it. Overall based on price/location was a good choice.
