Description:
Situated in the heart of the Punaauia region, Le Meridien Tahiti overlooks white sandy beaches, calming blue waves, and commanding mountains. Ideally located seaside in the Punaauia region, Le Meridien Hotel Tahiti is 15 kilometres from Papeete and 9 kilometres from Faa'a International Airport. Just minutes away from the celebrated sites of French Polynesia, Le Meridien Tahiti offers excursions to the Caves of Maraa, the Gauguin Museum, and the Seashell Museum. Each guest room has a great view and the decor blends harmoniously with the Polynesian interior design of the hotel. Rooms are very spacious, well appointed and decorated in a modern Polynesian theme with a balcony. Le Care Restaurant is located beachside, serving a relaxed style of cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch and sunset cocktails. La Plantation offers a large variety of specialties combining French Cuisine with the exotic flavours of Polynesian flavour. This property offers a myriad of water activities including canoeing, scuba-diving, snorkelling, sailing, dolphin watch and shark feeding. The greatest feature of this resort is a stunning 2000 square metre swimming pool with sand covered bottom.

The snorkeling right near the over water bungalows was outstanding! Loved the water aerobics! We found the restaurants too expensive for our taste, but found others restaurants close by including a quaint patisserie. My husband and I arrived early. And were escorted to a comfortable room (where we watched the World Cup) to wait until our room was ready. The room was still not ready, so we were upgraded and given a better room. That night, the toddler above us was awake all night running and playing. When we mentioned it at the desk, we were moved to a quiet room down the hall, most accommodating! The grounds were beautiful and staff was outstanding! We will recommend Le Meridian to our friends!

The first impression given is the soaring ceiling; an open lobby with a large koi pond outside and the glimpses of the amazing sand-bottom pool, the Pacific and lush gardens. The front desk is welcoming. The staff is friendly, helpful & wonderful. The room service is probably about the worse I've ever encountered! Meals are on a strict schedule & room service is NOT 24 hours as advertised in their room booklet menu or their in-hotel television station. Because of the off-hours flight departures and arrivals; a transit room is available but we were lucky to be allowed a late-check-out which made things nicer & more comfortable. There are plenty activities and spa offers. Taking out an ocean kayak to the edge of the reef is amazing. The best swim is in the sand bottom pool; late at night when you can see the most amazing array of stars in the dark skies. I would return to the Le Meridien Tahiti,

Very quiet and secluded, far from maddening crowd, with first class scenery and facility to compliment this romantic paradise for two. What else is there to look for when you are in heaven? Sunrise is quiet, the water is calm, and the beach is private, a very relaxing and peaceful environment. The afternoon rain cleared the air. Moorea is in the distant view. We kayaked (free) into the sunset. It is a quiet resort within walking distance to a local mall with pharmacy and supermarket. Perfect paradise for romance and meaningful conversation. We had a picnic breakfast on the balcony enjoying fresh baguette, English cucumber, banana and apple turnover (we bought from local supermarket) with a piping hot pot of tea, overlooking fish swimming among the coral garden clearly visible in the turquoise water 3 feet below deck. It is paradise on earth.

I'd like to direct this review to experienced travelers, although perhaps honeymooners might find it of value too. This hotel was part of a three week, five resort self made tour of Polynesia. It was the best overall resort that we stayed in, at the least cost, making it a very remarkable value. The resort itself is perhaps the most 'balanced' that I've ever seen, meaning that everything was equally nice. Reception and restaurants are classic, restaurant is great food and prices in line with Polynesian norms, grounds were extremely nice and the pool stunning, the room was huge, nice, clean, and had every possible ammenity, bedding was the most comfortable we had in Polynesia, linens and towels were the biggest and softest. As for the location, it was along the coast as the city starts to thin out. Access was great either into the city or away from it. The beach itself was not large but sufficient and you could walk for miles up along the shore. The lagoon is huge with an amazing abundance of coral and fish for snorkeling if that is your thing. The view is unbroken across to Moorea to the west, which makes for nice sunsets. We were in an over-water bungalow, which was nicer and appeared newer than all others we saw and stayed in, including those that were three times the price. There are reasons that people might want to go to the other islands, but over-water bungalows shouldn't be one of them, in my opinion. I would consider going back and staying just at Le Meridien. There's to do at the resort, and undless things to explore in Papeete (beautiful city, by the way, if you get away from the wharf), and around the island. Happy travels!

My family and I only stayed one night, .We could of stayed longer. it's a beatiful hotel with view of the island of Moorea. You can snorrrkel right off the beach. the hotel is very clean and well kept up. Our room was very nice with a huge bed. we had a lagoon view.from our balcony we could the pool ,beach and ocean. The bathroom is big with a tub and shower. If your going to stay in Tahiti this is the place to stay.

So, I hate to leave a bad review but i think if people are going to stay at these places and spend a lot of money they should be fairly warned about what they are getting into. So, The hotel is really pretty, I was so excited getting there. (anywhere over there is SO pretty) postcard on wheels ya know? I kicked the money for an overwater bungalow and it was pretty nice. My beef with the room was they say it is airconditioned and it is not, the a/c doesn't do squat for the room and as humid as it is you need it/ want it. water there is incredible. The food is horrible at the restaurant, really bad, and really expensive, we finally walked down the driveway to a local little restaurant almost every meal the last 4 days, and that was good. The service at the restaurant not good, they really confirm the old don't like americans scenario. Also i was upset because our travel professional didn't tell us papeete was a layover island and moorea and bora bora are the rad islands. so one day we went to moorea and it was awesome and then we went to bora bora and it was awesome. So, tahiti is great just don't stay on the main island for more than a night. Expect insane humidity, unreal water and scenery, not that great of food, and don't even dream of an ice drink where the ice lasts longer than 2 minutes. If i had to recommend a place that was the nicest on all islands i stayed at would be the intercontinental....thanks for reading.
