Description:
Lavendale Farm is situated 15K south of York in Western Australia on the banks of the Avon River. The property is approximately 64ha of gently sloping land lying between Great Southern Highway and the river.
There is a 2.5km river frontage which is fenced off from the main farming activities. All of the river bank area is natural bush and the property is a "Land for Wildlife" site. The country style farm house was completed in July 2007 and offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills and farmland.
Lavendale Farm is a place to come and relax under the wide verandahs, watch the animals graze and walk among the vast array of native Australian trees which have been planted as shelter belts and hosts in the sandalwood plantation.
"Aussie Bush"- Our Solar Powered Self Contained Cottage has a long, wide veranda for its outdoor setting and BBQ. Inside the spacious living area is a comfy chesterfield and pot belly stove for those cold winter nights. One bedroom has a colonial style queen bed and the other has sleeping for three. There is a claw foot bath in the bathroom and a separate shower. Again, TV, DVD, games and books.
"Valencia"- Solar Powered Self Contained Cottage is a Mediterranean style house with two bedrooms, an elegant bathroom with long bath and separate shower, and a huge living area. We have TV, DVD player and board games, puzzles and books. An enclosed wood fire will keep you warm in winter. There is an attractive patio with outdoor setting and BBQ. One room has a huge French provincial queen size bed and the other room has sleeping for three. We have cots and high chairs available
Both cottages have electricity provided by our solar power generating unit. They have their own rain water tanks and have gas hot water services and cook tops. We have microwave ovens, toasters, stove top kettle and lots of pots and pans and crockery.
We have not put laundries in the cottages. We do have a wash house on the property however. There is a washing machine and dryer and clothes lines for our guests to use.
You'll enjoy the the communal campfire which we light, weather permitting in the evenings. Great fun. Bring some marsh-mallows!

Attractions:
Lavendale Farm has plenty to do if you want to just relax close to "home". The river is a very peaceful place to walk along. It is completely natural and the only paths are made by kangaroos. In places it is hard going, but finding a nice place to sit on the bank is worthwhile.
Always wear boots when walking in the bush. The sandalwood plantation is great to wander through and the animals will always appreciate a scratch behind to ear or a brushing if you are used to horses. In future there will be a swimming pool and children¿s play ground.
We are still establishing gardens and other features. Lavendale Farm is a brand new project, and we don¿t mind if you want to lend a hand with the weeding!
York: The historical town of York is 10 minutes from Lavendale Farm. Some of the more well known attractions are the Motor Museum; The Old Gaol and Court House; the Residency Museum; Jah-Roc gallery; York Wines, Glen Meadows Shire Horse Stud; Avon Walk Trail and Swinging Bridge. The historical village of Greenhills only 15 minutes drive away has a great pub and a well set up equestrian centre.
Beverley: Less than 15 minutes away and offers the Avondale Discovery Farm, a must to see in the area. The Aeronautical Museum; take a glider ride. The Dead Finish Museum has some very interesting pieces on early settlement in the area.
Northam: This is a major regional centre and only 30 minutes from Lavendale Farm. It has many shops and businesses. Also built on the Avon River it stages the beginning of the annual Avon Decent in August each year. Hot air Ballooning over the Avon Valley departs from the Northam Airfield.
