This two star, family owned city centre hotel comprises a collection of six listed buildings around a courtyard setting. The oldest building (pictured) dates from 1659. Situated on Skeldergate, the ancient Roman waterfront that now leads from the city walls across the river to the historic city. The convenient location, combined with the hotels scenic setting is ideal for exploring York and the surrounding area. The railway station and all major attractions are within easy walking distance. The University and other business areas are also easily accessible from the hotel. A full range of facilities include guest parking, a restaurant serving English cooking, a bar and lounge area and a health and fitness centre with counter current fitness pool (booking required), sauna and cv equipment (limited availability to children under 16 years old). Guest accommodation is located within five of the buildings, which have been restored to provide 54 en suite bedrooms, with tranquil seating areas around the garden ponds and in the English gardens. Due to the age of the buildings, the hotel does not have a lift, however some ground floor rooms are available. Please request at the time of booking. Some of our rooms are large enough to accommodate extra beds or cots for children (at an additional cost), please contact the hotel directly to discuss your requirements. The hotel is an entirely non-smoking venue. Free WiFi Internet access in 'The Meetings Place' conference centre and in one public lounge area. No hidden extras. All rates include: VAT @ 17.5%, your en-suite room, full English breakfast, car parking and the use of the Emperors Gym. Our reception staff are happy to discuss any specific requests you may require, including special occasion flowers, champagne etc. Dinner is available each night; special diets can be catered for with sufficient prior notice.

Short break in YorkThe Lady Anne Middleton is a quiet hotel close to the centre of York. It is ideally placed for getting out and about on foot. The staff are very helpful. I felt comfortable there as a single traveller.

This hotel is very close to Baile Hill, along the walls around York, so it's an excellent location for exploring the wall. Dinner and breakfast were both great - very nice meals and the service was excellent. The room was neat and clean and very spacious. Finding how to get into the car park was a little tricky, as the hotel reception isn't in the same street as the listed address. Great service at reception.

We were very happy with this charcter hotel within easy walking distance of York City centre and railway station. Excellent breakfasts and friendly staff. Not the Ritz but excellent value for money. Would stay again.

Great for Tourists!but wouldn't recommend it for younger business travellers - food and facilities were great as was gym and sauna however other residents at the hotel were in their 50s at a minimum and 80s/90s iobn the whole. A great stay but not sure whether I'd stay again if I had the option of somewhere a bit more 'exciting'

Good location, 2 minute walk to the action. Nice setting and historic buildings. The room downstairs was right on the street and very noisy when people walked past the window and cars drove past. Car park was good, breakfast was excellent and fast, staff are excellent. Driving in York as a nightmare, luckily everything is a short walk from the hotel.

The room was awful, if you have to look out on an ashfelt roof and brick wall then they could have picked up the broken TV aerial. We asked to be moved but were told all rooms were the same!!!! The shower room left a lot to be desired. On a possitive note,the breakfast was acceptable and the dining room staff attentive

niceThe hotel was easy to find and only five minute walk into York. The smoking area was really nice and you had more guests in that area than bar.The room was a little drab and old fashioned but clean.The parking was good and secure. The hotel was an historic building in its self and was interesting.The breakfast room could do with a new carpet and was very stained in places.The food was good and fresh, I would recomend the steak it was cooked nicely

Excellant location with exceptionally helpful staff. A good breakfast was included within the price. The room was clean, tidy and larger than expected. I would recommend this hotel very highly.

Stayed two nights. The first room was ok but not more. On the back difficult to get any air in through the small windows. The staff in reception were very helpfull and provided us with a fan and changed the room for us. The second room was a very nice room

A very pleasant surprise. For the price I expected a much more basic hotel. Very nice nature of hotel, a change from the usual. Great location, easy walk from station and all main sights. Superb all you can eat breakfast/buffet. Staff very friendly. Gym is superb, a full fitness centre. Only negative comment is could do with a lick of paint here and there but dont be put off by that. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Deco a little bit dated, other than that very pleasant hotel. Room was looking at the street and not even noisy. Well situated for a night out in York. Price was reasonnable (including breakfast!!) for a touristic city like York.

A cheerful, 'no-nonsense' hotel with extremeley friendly and helpful staff. Located in a most interesting setting with the older part having previously been historic alms houses, this hotel is brilliantly sited for the city centre and only about 25 mins walk from York racecourse. A little difficult to find due to the one way system but with tight but sufficient parking. Rooms are adequate if small and a little old fashioned. Very good breakfast. I would definitely go again.

Would not stay againWe stayed here for one night and that was enough. The room was very plain and the bath very small. Customer service was bad and not very friendly. The breakfast staff and food needed a lot of help to be good. When I called the front desk to see if there was a fan I could use, because it was very hot in our room, they said no. The only part that was nice, was that a friendly staff member brought me up a fan.

Good LocationWe all as a fanily enjoyed our stay at the hotel.It was very central.The staff were very friendly and helpful.The fact that the hotel had retained its period features and the history behind the hotel added to its appeal as did the the price,Very good value for money.The only negative comment iwould make would be ,maybe a revamp of the bathrooms would add more stars to this hotel.

A Fab Weekend stay with friends We had the best weekend ever. This was our second stay at the Lady Ann Middelton. This stay was with our friends . The service was second to none. We would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting good value for money . It is close to all the places to visit . york is a beautiful city. We shall book again in the next six months . Thank you Lady Ann Middelton staff for all your hard work and kidness.

lady ann middletonssituated in a really good spot,everybody very helpful and polite, only comment it is a bit dated and could do with a bit of moderisation, ie decor and bedding!
