We had stayed at this hotel before and had been impressed. However, we had then a very good room in the old part of the hotel. This time, we were in a King-size room in the extension above the pub next door. The bed of this room was certainly King-size but the room itself, although it had a view of the old County Hall opposite, was very small and disappointingly so. The main mirror was in a corner of the room and inconvenient for dressing to go out.The staff were very helpful but they ought to give far better directions to where the room is or ought to conduct guests to it. It is otherwise rather confusing. We had not realized either that the bar was not open on Mondays. Of course, we could have used the pub had we wanted to and that appeared to be both convenient and pleasant.

Lace MarketI have booked and stayed at the Lace market hotel many times through laterooms.on this occasion my room which was suposed be be an executive room was dreadful. I managed to change the room with great difficulty. The breakfast in the morning was awful, the food took an age to arrive & when it did, it was cold.Has the hotel changed ownership ? the normal high standard seem to be slippingMartin C

The wrong roomWe booked an executive room, but were put into a small room which had a broken tile in the bathroom floor, air con that did not work, a cracked window pane and a hole in the throw on the bed. Since the true price of this room (not through laterooms) should have been £189, we felt there must have been a mistake. When we queried it, we were told we had been put into a standard room by mistake and we were moved into an executive one, which was much better. Had we just accepted the room without question, we would have left feeling that the accommodation in the hotel substandard. Overall, I felt that it was a hotel that was resting on its laurels....a bit tired. The 2 chairs in the reception were very faded and the carpet was rippled. On the positive side we were happy once our room was changed, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the location is great and the food was exceptional.

Not as good as our first visitThis was the second time we had visited this hotel and the experience wasn't as good as the first. Double room was tiny, aircon didn't work, bathroom could have been cleaner. Sunday papers didn't arrive until 10am, lights blew in the night etc etc. Cooked breakfast is excellent in this hotel (as is dinner in the evening), but the cold breakfast selection is poor for this kind of "boutique" hotel. Also, when we checked out, spotted we'd been overcharged by £25 with no good explanation as to why. In summary, still a nice place (bar, restaurant etc) and possibly suffering most from high standards set on our first visit.

Great location, shabby hotelWe booked two nights in a deluxe room at the Lacemarket hotel as we had tickets to a show on the Saturday and had not visited the city before. The hotel looked great on their website but didn't live up to expectations, our deluxe room was very tired and the aircon didn't work - a problem as the room got the sun all day. Repeated requests to reception failed to get the problem resolved, and they couldn't, or wouldn't move us. Sure, the room was large with a seating area, desk and feature bathroom, but peeling paint, cracked tiles and worn fittings aren't my idea of "deluxe". Even the English breakfast was mediocre, served on cold plates making the food tepid. The only highlight was the bar which does great cocktails. Unless they give this place a good makeover, I'd save your money.

A dependable 'positive hotel stay' This is a high quality effort to provide accommodation that is beyond that of a quality chain experience, with some chic present and much attention to the detail of a customer's stay. The restaurant / breakfast room is a great setting looking out onto the Lace Market Quarter and the 15th century St Mary's Church, through the retained Georgian style windows. It succeeds through its concept and its staff efforts to stand apart. Some of the 'boutique' approach can bring negative detail: e.g. the subtle lighting in my bathroom made it very difficult to get a proper shave in the bathroom mirror. And, the shower fittings seemed like there should be some wall-posted manual, in order to work them out! But, I think everyone would enjoy a stay here and be well looked after - and all would feel a sense of the hotel's 'character'. Good value when a Late Rooms booking.

Hard to find hotel. Spent hour driving round looking for hotelNot the easy of hotels to find. In the end left car in NCP. Car park, and found hotel on foot, lady on desk friendly and helpful, but carpet past it sell buy date. Already had paid for a upgrade room. Upgraded again????? Life is small and cute? On entering room large but nothing special. Bathroom large. Windows in room .seconary windows open just a bit . hot in room , main windows out side , two panes broken. window frames were rotten in place , need coat of paint , the view look out over building other side . after takingshower , hot and powerfull , great , but , took about 10 min for water to drain away . wife enjoy the bath .mini bar in fridge well stock but over price ,bed very large and great , room clean , breakfast in morning was very good , you could have any think and everthink ,staff great ,nice teapot , cups , no waiting for any think , very nice breakfast room .best breakfast i had ,anywhere.checking out no promlen , but price told on desk , ref reduce parking fees , incorrect , at car park at to pay more.if you want hotel in town center , and dont mind playing find the hotel . as it is hard to find in a car . try it , might stay again . if price right .

Nottingham lace Market HotelNice but now needs a major refurb in common areas. Noisy at night due to revellers in streets outside. Nice bathrooms. Speedy room service. Not very nice TV in room.

late bookerEverything was fine except on arrival I was told the cost was in fact £10 more than the Laterooms price. It was explain that £99 was the minimum ever that the hotel charge. When I checked out the bill was for the correct amount of £89. No problem but I am going the check my credit card statement. Room was small but lovely and the bed was huge and confortable. Bath was deep and delightful. Would stay there again.

The room booked was a single and was rather small and pokey with a shower only -- no bath.Setting this aside, the room was clean, modern and adequate for a one night stay. The breakfast was good and cooked freshly -- not kept warm under a sunray lamp!

A bit disappointingGreeting at reception was lovely, great location, room very small but that’s why it’s called boutique, but I stayed in bigger boutique rooms in NYC than Nottingham! Air conditioning remote batteries were dead, fan in bathroom not working, but was nice and quiet away from street noise. It cost just £10 less than one of the best hotels I stayed in two weeks previous (Oddfellows Chester) so that’s probably why I’m a bit disappointed!

A few very small points, kettle hard to fill from the basin tap and not enough cartons of milk for tea and coffee, milkstix would take up less room in the minibar if that is the issue, there were 4, I'd have liked 6.

Lace Market Stay April 09We had an executive room as there were no standard rooms available and we were extremely disappointed. The room was right next to the lift which was very noisy. The room was quite a small size and definitely didn't feel like an executive room. The bathroom was tiny and there was also very little hanging space for clothes. There was no air conditioning and the room got very hot, added to this the windows were very difficult to open so it was an uncomfortable night. In addition to this, the noise from the bathroom cistern when the neighbouring room took a shower in the morning was so disturbing it left us wide awake. The only positive note was the food and service at breakfast which was excellent. Overall we found this very bad value for money and not a luxury experience as the web-site might suggest.

Hotel and Resturant ReviewThe hotel was great - I was greeted by an extremely friendly service and this set up the rest of the stay. I had booked a table at the restaurant for a business meeting. We were still sat there at 1am without any complaint from the staff. I appologised at 12 and was informed that they were there all night and not to worry and to stay as long as we liked. I would stay again without hesitation. The value for money was supurb the room was fantastic and the service could not have been better.

Room was a double, quite small but adequate. Had a view overlooking the kitchen, so a bit dingy but at a decent rate so can't complain.Dinner and breakfast were included so it was an absolute bargain. Both meals were delicious and the services excellent. It was very intimate and all the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay, particularly if you can get a deal!
