We were at La V for a wedding. Our room was outstanding. The bed was the best that I've ever slept in, including my own. Food at the hotel was wonderful, as was the service. La V is close to the shore, shopping and dining. We used the unlimited valet service, although we could have easily done without it. Staff went out of their way to make our stay the best. Undoubtedly the nicest hotel I've been in.

Sometimes it is hard to judge from the pictures that are posted in this website. At first glance, I would have thought that the hotel is secluded from the outside world and have its own private beach. When we arrived there, we realized the hotel is actually situated on the main street of a busy shopping areas. During weekend, there are a lot of traffic flows and visitors passing by the hotel. The beach is actually one block away from the hotel. The hotel is nice for those who prefers convenience of shopping and there are many restaurants within walking distance. Valet parking is a must since one would never find a vacant parking meter around. Nonetheless, the hotel is well maintained and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I wish the swimming pool is more seclusive and fewer visitors passing by. The beach and coves behind the hotel are nice (especially during sunset) and they are popular with visitors to town. If you prefer a stay where you can find everything within walking distance, this is the hotel to stay. However, if you would like to walk on a quiet beach during sunset, I suggest to choose other places.

This was a perfect location for La Jolla, this was in the center of everything! You could park the car and walk everywhere. The one think I did not like was the parking price. The beach was really pretty to look at and take walks ont he walkway, but not a beach to lay out and hang on. But all in all, Loved the hotel and loved La Jolla!

Very elegant Old Hotel. Great and Friendly service. Fresh flowers throughout the Foyer and reception area. Beautiufl antique fixtures and elevator. If your looking for new and modern this is not your place. If you love the Hotel Del this is another Grande Dame you should put on your must stay list. Convenient location in the village. Walk to dinner, beach and of course the fabulous upscale shopping!! Sit out on the veranda overlooking the pool and ocean - have a cocktail relax - no one should be in a hurry when in La Jolla. Rooms are mostly quite small but romantic with nice views, crystal chandeliers and very comfy beds, and high thread count sheets. Vigaluccis is great for Italian, and down the street for great views and fabulous service try Georges at the cove...Rooftop bar for a drink and sunset is a must!!! Kayaking La Jolla is also a great way to see this unique cove and check out the sealions and garibaldi down below. La Jolla truly is a jewel, and as such can have a sparkiling high price, if you like to splurge a little this is your town.

Overall, the hotel was very nice but the room we initially had was too small and had no view of anything We'd want to see and insufficient space in the bathroom and room itself. The housekeeping staff spoke little if any English and communications other than with supervisors was very difficult.

I love this hotel, its one of the most beautiful I have ever stayed at, and very romantic. Great for kids or lovers. Best location in La Jolla, and the ocean views are breathtaking. If you want to be by the pool, beach, cafe's, dining, shops, sports, diving, swimming, this hotel is close to it all.

The service was excellent, the atmosphere: so perfect. Management was eager to meet our special needs and gave us a special suite when the one elevator needed repair and we weren't able to climb the stairs. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

While not as high touch as a Four Seasons or other top quality hotel, La Valencia provides beautiful, large rooms with all the amenities (in the new portion of the hotel). We enjoyed relaxing by the pool, delicious room service and our in room whirlpool and steam shower. What will get me back to the hotel, however, is the extremely dog friendly policy.

We had a wonderful experience - the staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel and grounds were beautiful and everything we needed was supplied. We walked down to the beach, shopped around, ate at Jack's Grille - which was wonderful. The only challenge we had was in relation to the parking. We came back to the hotel at midnight one night and there was no available parking in front of the hotel and no valets to be found. I finally parked in a red zone while my husband went in to find a valet then the night staff wasn't very helpful/friendly. That was really the only challenge. The day valet staff was so helpful and friendly. One day we forgot our jackets in the car and were going to be walking around La Jolla so one of the valets ran to our car to get our jackets. We would definitely stay there again. The cost of the room was a little pricy but I think part of that was due to the location and holiday weekend. The negative items listed above did not diminish our great experience and wonderful vacation!!

La Valencia is located on the Pacific Ocean the views from the dining room and foyer are stupendous. For the price I paid I was very much impressed by the room. I had a complete suite and three televisions. A little breakfast area with two balcones. I stayed right in La Jolla and everything was within walking distance. I would definitely stay there again.

This is a beautiful hotel. Wonderful amenities, old world charm and friendly staff. An elegant oasis adjacent to the La Jolla park and cove, as well as village shopping and many restaurant venues all within walking distance. The bed was so comfortable, we bought a comparable mattress, comforter and pillows when we returned home. We have been in La Jolla many times, but had not stayed at the La Valencia since the room rates are a bit pricey.

The location of this Hotel is fantastic and the views are wonderful!!! I was not happy with the check in they gave us the wrong rooms we payed for ocean views and got garden views we went in June and it was hot the heater ran all night when I went down to the front desk to tell them about the heater not shutting off they said they would send somebody up to fix it It took a few hours and a few calls for them to fix it I asked for a discount and they would not give one so the first night was really bad. They do not work with You and not concerend about your comfort I guess they figure the nice rooms will make up for them being rude. I really could not believe it. I am very easy going but this really upset me.

Wonderful hotel and hotel staff. The hotel is located on the ocean and the view from the room was fabulous. The room and the hotel were very clean and have a tuscany atmosphere. The resturant food for breakfast was tasty and priced well. Everyone - hotel staff- were extremely friendly and helpful. The neighbor is very artsy and lots of resturants and specialty shops. I plan to stay at this hotel again when in the La Jolla area.
