The hotel needed paint and repair. There were hoodlums hanging out in the parking lot with no sign of hotel security. There was one van with shady characters in the parking lot that, based on their equipment and attire, looked like they may have been there to shoot a porno film. Not a gathering place for classy folks. We moved to a different hotel for the second night. On a positive note, we were able to see the ocean from our room through a couple of missing boards in the privacy fence.

There were several things that could have made our first experience in Galveston better. Before we even left I called the hotel to confirm reservations (as I am always worried) and the phone rang several times with no answer. I called back twenty minutes later and was left on the phone for several minutes while whomever answered...put the phone down and left( I am still lost about this). We stayed the weekend and had to go to the front desk twice for key cards to our room. I had to sit in the hall and wait (because we had our dog, that wasn't allowed in the lobby), for my husband to return with the front desk clerk that had to let us in our room. I have to say that she was very sweet about the situation. Other than these things, our stay was very peaceful, and quiet.

The bright side breakfast. There was a lot that I did not like. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was very clear that they were not ready to have guests so soon after the hurricane. The rooms smelt like mildew and the staff was so rude. There were tons of dogs staying at the hotel and we were not happy at the overall service.

The front desk person was not friendly & was short when several questions were asked. The motel was clean & very nice. We had trouble with other tenants of having children running up & down the halls at 12:00 A.M. till 2:00 A.M. We called & complained, someone came & talked to them & for about 30 minutes they quieted down then it started again. We did not get that situation resolved.

The hotel was just opened after IKE - it looked clean but we did see coackroaches in bedroom and bathroom, and it still smelled musty after clean up. Front staff threw away my expensive coffee drink the moment I had finished checking in - no apology or return offered.

We stay there once a week for business, because after like I am Leary of other hotels. Priceline still shows this hotel closed for like repairs. we stayed for 3 months now. We know this hotel doesn't have smelly after like rooms. I dint want to experiment with another hotel. We stay every week for past 3 months.

It started out with dogs barking in the room next door. We were on our honeymoon and trying to have a good time. As we approached the room and unlocked the door for the first time, we noticed feet hanging off the bed and someone else's suitcase. They gave us someone else's room!!! I took all of my luggage back down and explained what happened. The lady responded with "Would you like to check out?" Horrible service. Dogs were everywhere barking. We won't be staying there again. They have a small (very small) pool as well.

The hotel is off the beaten teack- and no restaurants were walkable so we had to take cabs down the strand. The hotel was the filthiest I have ever stayed in- i don't know if there was flood damage? But it did not look like they ever vacuumed and the hotel smelled awful, like mold. the staff was friendly, the breakfast was great. We were THRILLED to leave to go catch our cruise. Will likely not go back to La Quinta, posssibly, Galveston for a long time.

Before I booked these rooms I read all of the comments, so I was looking for the worse. At check in there was not an attitude with the front desk people. Yes the hotel is down the street from the swimming part of the beach, but it is across the street from the bay and you can walk in that area. The hotel was clean, well maintained, & comfortable. The balcony was wonderful, my 4 year old son loved it, along with the small pool area. There is a new hotel being built on the right side of this hotel and there is noise, so beware. My overall experience was great, way better than the other reviews. Thinking about visiting again. I think those bad reviews may have come from another LQ that is located down the road.

I've stayed at many LQ Inns & Suites over the years so I wasn't concerned when I made a 4 night reservation. WRONG! The hotel is near to absolutely nothing. The pool is postage stamp sized. In our room the faucet in the bathtub was broken, paint was peeling, the sink was cracked, and I can't remember what all else. Staff didn't seemed to care about the place. After one night we checked out and moved up to the Holiday Inn on the beach. Great stay there! VERY disappointed in this hotel as I am, er, was, a LQ loyalist.

Continental breakfast. Staff was rude, construction was going on.

We were allowed to check in early without complaint. The view of the gulf was very nice. The bathroom was large and had lots of counter space. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The staff was quick to respond to requests and freindly. It was too cold to swim in the pool but I was looking forward to the hot tub, however the hot tub was about 15 degrees too cool to be relaxing. The complimentary breakfast was good with extras like hard boiled eggs and waffles. Everything was stocked until the end of the time.

I was content with the stay, the personell(front desk clerk-upon check in) was not friendly at all. She was on a call and never acknowledged us. It was about 5-10 minutes before she even walked to the counter and even at that point, she appeared to be unhappy. I just feel that with a position like that, they should hire friendlier staff.

Beds comfortable, stable fast internet. Still recovering from Hurricane Iike damage. They seemed to be short on staff, the place is still recovering from Hurricane damage but they were painting and fixing it up, probably for Spring Break. Internet was good.

I have stayed here two different times and I am not very impressed with this particular La Quinta Inn & Suite. The hotel staff at night, usually one man named XXX, is very rude. He answers the phone without even mentioning the hotel's name. I had to get my key cards re-processed about 5 different times throughout my stay. I have no idea how people rated this hotel with 5 stars! This a 1 star La Quinta Inn & Suite. I DO NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE. The rooms smelled musty and mildew like. I could see green spots on the closet wall from the mold growing. This place is TERRIBLE.

We were traveling with our two grandsons. The pool was fine, but we found the beds too soft. the room was clean, and breakfast was good. The room was large and we had plenty of space with a 9 & 12 year-old.
