Ck in & out went very smooth. Front desk was very helpful & friendly. Brkfast area was well stocked and resupplied when needed. Bed clean and comfortable. Bathroom clean. A/C worked well. Big stain on carpet was unsightly. Not a fan of outdoor hallways for safety reasons. Would not recommend because of that.

The only real complaint is that the carpet in the room did not seem to be very clean. It was kind of sticky to walk on.

As usual, La Quinta provided a clean, restful night's stay. This particular hotel has 3 floors of room...and MANY of them. However, parking is not convenient for all rooms. We arrived rather late, received a room on the first floor, but had to park in the furthest lot from our room....in the morning, that proved to be an uphill hike! The breakfast was quite good...fresh fruit, oatmeal, boiled eggs, yogurt (thanks for the proteins!) and 'freshly made' waffles. YUM! One problem: Gainesville is a popular destination for sporting events ..this is a LARGE hotel....and the breakfast room only had seating for 15-20 people. I would also recommend that they have more than one food-service station. If the waffle irons--2 of them--had been spaced across the room from each other...and if they had more than 2...it would have been less congested. Overall, the stay was quite nice. This critique is meant to convey recommendations to the hotel staff, not to discourage anyone from choosing this hotel. We will probably stay there again.

Problems started at check-in. Had to wait 15-20 minutes while a computer run was completed. Problems continued. The internet access did not work, just as in the first visit, until a 30 minute IT session was completed. Room key failed. Room was not cleaned, even after a call, although they came and traded towels. Breakfast buffet was a plus.

Middle and high school basketball players from all over the southeast were staying at the hotel. We were unable to use the pool and the kids were kids...noisy and running all over the place.

staff are great, for the money the room was not clean , the bath did not drain, and the bed you could fell the matress spring in your back they need up grade the room, floors were dirty.

Arrived to easy check-in and mildewy smelling room. Key cards kept going bad, so over 3 days I made 5 visits to front desk to get new key cards. One of those times, at 5:30 pm I told the desk that I couldn't get in. I told them I'd wait at the pool with the kids while they serviced the lock. One hour later (6:30 pm, dinner??) there was no sign of an employee delivering my new keys. I had to walk into the lobby dripping wet to ask for the keys and they told me they were sorry for forgetting me. Not good. Finally, when I needed ice, the machines near my room were either empty or broken. On the bright side, carb-laden breakfast was decent.

The location was good and the internet worked well. Rooms were musty and generally poorly/improperly cleaned.

The hotel check in was easy and efficient. Watch for the hotels that allow pets. I didn't figure out what I was getting bit by until the last night of my stay. There were fleas in my bed and room. The room had been rented by a pet owner and had not been fumigated properly.

Even though we were their just overnight, I was very pleased. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way for whatever we needed. The only problem I saw was a big stain on the carpet as you walked in the door. The room was fresh smelling and everything else was clean. We had just stopped to stay the night on the way to Disney and I must say that the room here was nicer and roomier than the one we had at the resort in Disney. There was mold in our bathroom and bedroom. We did not stay for our entire trip and checked out after the first night. The room had a strong odor as well.

The La Quinta Inn Gainesville was a below par hotel in my opinion for the money paid. Our room had a dehumidifier in it partly due to the fact that the air conditioner was not working properly and the dehumidifier sounded like a freight train. We asked for another room and they graciously complied. However, the second room was better but had the ever-present odor of cigarette smoke. I must state one fact. This was the weekend of a college football game and rooms in the city can become very scarce. The breakfast was excellent.

The rooms are spacious and the whole property is well maintained. The finishes are fresh and modern and the lobby is quite nice, at one end of the property. They have an enclosed courtyard off the dining area with benches and tables where you can eat. It is very relaxing. This is definitely a good value.
