We found the bathrooms newly upgraded, the linens fresh, the room and bed spacious and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed being allowed to keep our dog in the room with us and even had other guests share our enjoyment of our pet as we passed through the hotel. There was plenty of parking and the complimentary breakfast saved us money. It is freeway close, convenient to other dining, and not far from ATMs and other shopping.

Rooms had fridge and microwave. Room was adequate and carpet was torn in a few locations. The hotel was good for a short stay and the location from the freeway was very convenient.

The rooms are clean, and a good size. A very nice guard was on duty all night, keeping an eye on the parking lot and lobby. We had a great stay!

This is the old Best Western, now La Quinta at 920 University. I stayed there with my daughter and one of her friends when they attended freshman orientation at Cal. The Golden Bear had no record of my confirmed (and pre-paid) reservation! I hunted for alternative hotels, and took this room at the last minute. Now I'm happy the Golden Bear lost my reservation. This is a basic motel room, but it was clean and the Cal campus is accessible from there. The rates are competitive, given the over-priced Berkeley area. If, like me, those are your sole criteria, I recommend it, and I plan to stay here again for the SC-Cal game weekend.

My experience at this hotel was not a great one. My flight came in late, so I was not able to check into my room until after 12am. The lobby area smelled like urine that someone tried to cover up with bleach. Both the keys to our room did not work, so we had to go back down to the lobby. The girl at the front desk had to call security to meet us up there to let us in. The next day the same thing happened again. This time when we went down to the lobby there were at least 10 people waiting with one girl at the counter. I had to wait yet again for security to let us know, who then let us know that we will have to be placed into another room. I waited about 20 minutes until things calmed down in the lobby area. I attempted to call from the phone in our room.. which didnt even work.MY experience was horrible. Would not recomend.

at arrival was told no hot water, already knew there were not other chioces in area for similar price, so i stayed anyway. you would think they would continue repairs until finished but when i left at 8:00 am the plumber was just showing up!

Clean enough. Restoration work on property shoddy. Ihad to ask twice for a cab to be called, after being told I should ask them to call a cab.

The La Quinta Inn Berkeley was very close to UC Berkeley on the University Ave. The room was large and clean. The hotel offers free Internet and complementary breakfast. It is good for short stays.

Proximity to san francisco and berkeley. Location on busy street. We did not have hot water for 24 hours which left us unable to bathe (or rather, bathing in cold water) after a long trip from overseas. Very inconvenient!

The hotel is at a convenient location, close to the highway & within walking distance to restaurants & shops. The car rental facility at the hotel is a plus. Free Internet access! The Breakfast is very ordinary, but for the price, one cannot expect too much.

Hotel employees were very friendly. The surrouding area. My car was broken into by a resident of Berkeley. The neighborhood was not as safe as I thought it would be especially for having a nationally ranked college in the area. I would advise anyone who wishes to stay in Berkeley to never leave anything in your vehicle. When the person broke into my car, I only had my son's comforter set inside.

I was very surprised with the interior of the hotel. The outside of the hotel looked somewhat old so when we got inside the lobby and to our room I was surprised. The refrigerator and the microwave were nice additions. The balcony was somewhat small and the elevator was small. Overall the price for Berkeley was very comparable.

Good location, great staff.

The room was nice; however the shower did not work, the heating unit did not work, the tv remote was given to us, but did not work. The staff said they were sold out and the maintenance people were gone so they would have everything fixed the next day. And, the ice, etc. was on the 2nd and 3rd floor...we we're on the first. The only thing that was fixed was the remote. Needless to say, we will not use this hotel again.

It had a bed. It was filthy. Leaky air conditioner unit meant wet and mildew-smelling room.

I like location is close to the Berkeley University. I didn't like that area. I felt that not comfortable for me.

Service was good; staff friendly; continental breakfast very good. Supposed to be located near UCB, but really far away, near bay. The hotel itself was very good. Had it been located 2 miles east, it would have been an excellent experience.

Very clean with a helpful friendly staff. Was a little far from the downtown Berkeley area. Very nice, comfortable and clean rooms. Excellent continental breakfast and courteous staff. Would definitely recommend it to friends, and would stay there again when visiting the Berkeley area.

Large, well-appointed hotel room. Long wait at front desk to check in. This hotel is conveniently located to the University of California at Berkeley. It is large, has free parking, has a nice pool, and a good breakfast.
