La Plage Resort Taormina

The La Plage Resort Taormina is located on a beach that faces the island of Isola Bella (not to be confused with the island in Lago Maggiore), which is a nature reserve. The nearby city of Taormina is ancient, with Greek and Roman ruins, old churches and buildings, and modern shops and restaurants.

Trains run frequently to Taormina on the Messina-Catania line. The city is served by an airport in Catania, an hour’s drive away, and most hotels offer limousine service. For those with cars, Taormina is on the A18 motorway, and the La Plage Resort Taormina has a car park (fee charged).

The La Plage Resort Taormina has 14 guestrooms and 45 separate bungalows. The bungalows are located on the beach. All the guest rooms and bungalows have private bathrooms with a shower and a tub, a bidet, and complimentary toiletries and bathrobes. All rooms have a television, a telephone and a minibar.

The La Plage Resort Taormina has a fitness area which is open seasonally, from May to October. The spa is open every day from 10:00 until 22:00. Children under age of 14 cannot use the spa facilities.

TAORMINA
One of its most prestigious visitors Johann Wolfgang Goethe defined Taormina "a land of terrestrial paradise". Edmondo De Amicis, enchanted by its panoramic beauty and historical monuments in his work "Ricordi di un viaggio in Sicilia" said: "I have little belief in Hell, but I believe in Heaven because I have seen it....it's here(Taormina)". Today its fascination still lingers and remains timeless.

ISOLA BELLA
In 1806, Ferdinando I donated "Isola Bella" to Taormina's City Hall. Subsequently it was bought by numerous private residents and finally was purchased by Miss Travelyn, who constructed her private home and planted numerous exotic plants that can be still admired today. Isola Bella was then inherited by her husband, Professor Salvatore Cacciola, mayor of Taormina for 20 years, who then left "Isola Bella" to his only nephew, Cesare Acrosso.

After a series of transactions and testamentary legacies, The Bosuri brothers were able to valorise the surroundings without disfiguring the landscape. The island became a meeting point for theatrical artists, businessmen and ship owners.

Today "Isola Bella" belongs to the Sicilian Region.
Renamed "the pearl of the Jonio", it is reachable by land by a narrow strip of sand, which is continuously remodeled by the tides and currents.
