Beautiful hotel right on LaJolla Shores Beach. Great place for the 4th of July - we saw 3 fireworks displays from our patio. Fun snorkeling to watch the leopard sharks and stingrays. Crowded pool and spa - lots of kids.

If you love the beach, this is a great location, especially the beach front rooms. You can leave the sliding glass doors open to hear the waves crashing as you fall asleep. Sitting on the deck at sunset offers spectacular views of the sun sinking in the western horizon. Some rooms have full kitchen if you need to economize on meals. The hotel is a 5 minute drive from downtown La Jolla - great shopping, dining and people watching! The hotel accomodated a room request change to a higher floor for security purposes without a hitch. The staff is very gracious. The courtyard is charming with fountains, seating areas, ping pong for the kids. The pool and spa were under renovation but will be up and running soon.

I chose this hotel based upon a friend's experience with it. I chose an oceanview room and I was quite impressed. The room overlooks the ocean and is so close that I could throw a rock into the ocean from my balcony if I wanted to. The room is basic, but met my needs.

We enjoyed our stay at La Jolla Shores because of its location right on the beach and the surrounding La Jolla area. It is close to all of the attractions we were interested in seeing in the greater San Diego area -- such as Seaworld, the Zoo and Wild Animal Park, Birch Aquarium, and various attractions in downtown San Diego. The restaurant is nice, but overpriced for a family to eat there on a regular basis.

This hotel was amazing. The hotel staff went above and beyond to help make our stay great. They helped us with step by step directions to the hotel, numerous time as we kept getting lost. They also gave us directions to all the places we wanted to see, and helped us each time we got lost again with over the phone step by step directions. All of the hotel staff was incredibly friendly. The hotel itself was beautiful. Right on the beach, it was great to wake up to the ocean. Just a few steps out the door and you are on the beach. The restaurant was very nice with incredible views. The beds were super comfortable and the hotel was very quiet. There were great restaurants and little shops within walking distance.

I would not recommend this hotel. Clearly they have gotten away with the higher price because of the location alone. Pros: Location - direct access to La Jolla Shores Service for beach chairs/umbrellas - this individual was great. Cons: Service - I called ahead of time because we wanted to see if we could check in early. We were told our room was ready and could come at anytime, however when we got there, we were told our room was not ready. They proceeded to take my phone number and they said they would call me when our room was ready, but they never called. View - we were told we were getting an ocean view, however it should have been called a "partial view" or a "park view" since you really could not sit and view the ocean. Parking - we paid $14 for parking which we did use during the day, however when we got back to the hotel late in the evening, the lot was full and we had to find street parking on our own. Beds/Bedding - mattress did not provide any support. Comforters were old and pretty scratchy. Amenities - no soap was provided at the sink - we used what was found in the tub. Beach chairs - seemed rather cheap and only used for sitting, not full body beach chairs. Pool - fairly small, but not as large of an attraction since beach is just a short walk away.

A very relaxing and enjoyable stay at a unique hotel on the shores of La Jolla. In town for business and picking up a daughter from college. Employees and service was excellent; we had breakfast each morning out on the veranda overlooking the beach. A relaxing stroll on the beach or walkway. Also a short drive takes you into downtown La Jolla with all the excellent shops and restaurants, as well as the beautiful La Jolla Cove.

The hotel is located "on" the beach. The location is great, the staff were all very pleasant, including the housekeepers. I requested more coffee, and within 5 minutes they delivered more. I would definitely stay here again. Beautiful view of the Paficic Ocean and La Jolla.

Nice enough rooms, nice balcony, great ocean view, quiet and relaxing, with plenty for kids to do. Restaurant was decent (and plenty of places nearby to eat). Altogether worth it, for a decent price.

The hotel is a little overpriced for what it has to offer. The room was just ok. It had a small unit AC that did not cool the room enough for its size. The ice maker machine on my floor was broken for the three days of my stay and had to go either upstairs or downstairs to collect ice. Rooms with coastal view are also overlooking the poolto and were kind of noisy and not very private. A better option would be the ocean view rooms on the 3rd floor to avoid the noise. A good stay but overpriced for my standards.

Very nice and clean large ocean view room . The dining room had a tasty and varied breakfast menu. The garden area was lovely. I would happily return.

The view from the coastal view room was very good. Could still see plenty of the beach, and overlooked a well kept park. Room was adequate size with a nice deck. Very little hot water in shower, only semi warm, never hot. Also, a few tiny ants seen in the bathroom tiled area. Room had mini fridge in closet. Good parking in garage below, and the entire swimming pool was heated, not just the jacuzzi. Restaurant breakfast buffet reasonable, not a lot of selection, but food was good. I would stay there again, but ask them first about the ant and hot water issue.

This hotel is very well located on the beach in an established neighborhood. The property is well maintained, but the rooms are a little tired and bathrooms are small. Balconies with each room are an attractive amenity. Restaurant faces the water with big windows. Food is acceptable. Basic services are available from small stores in a nearby shopping district. Underground parking (fee) is a nice feature. Service is good. Ocean view rooms on the north overlook the water and a large public park. Neighborhood is flat and good for long walks. Hotel is not near main part of La Jolla without transportation, but is next door to the elegant La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.

this hotel is great for people who want to be on the beach and spend a lot of time there. however the room had an odd smell, did not feel clean and was quite outdated. all in all, the view and location were great but the room was not.
