I recommend La Catalina Hotel & Suites for all the people that love the nature and a peaceful vacations... the temptations restaurant was amazing with a romantic view from the central valley. the staff was so helpful and nice that we are thinking to go back sometime soon!!! about the rooms we stayed in the honeymoon suite that was really clean and beautiful.

Despite arriving in Costa Rica close to midnight, we were greeted at the airport by shuttle driver who drove us to Hotel La Catalina. The great service and smiling face we received on that first night is something that would continue for the two weeks that we spent at the hotel. The rooms were incredibly clean on arrival, and were kept that way throughout our stay by the wonderful staff at this hotel. Breakfast was healthy and delicious every morning, and the opportunity to taste the various kinds of fruit available in Costa Rica was fantastic.

I recently stayed at the La Catalina Hotel and Suites. I had a great experience all around. The staff goes out of their way to ensure you have everything you need. The breakfast is a typical Country breakfast with a few Costa Rican dishes (Great!). Beautiful swimming pools area and close to the airport. I will definitely return.

We stayed here our first night in Heredia, before we headed out to the Pacific coast. We were surprised to find the hotel shuttle waiting for us outside the front doors of the airport. We weren't renting a car, so it was very convenient to hop on the shuttle and get to the hotel within about 25 minutes. The staff was very friendly, and the room was comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast, which included all kinds of fruits, pastries, sausage, etc. There was a main thing that we were interested from hotel. The Internet service and it was great a great stay and I'd book here again.

This is a wonderful hotel. Is elegance is surpassed only by the staff, who are very gracious and accommodating. This hotel is a bit off the beaten path in a very nice area within Heredia called Birri. The high ceilings and staircases provide excellent ambiance. The rooms are well priced and the beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed evenings on the covered terrace with brilliant sunset displays. The restaurant is well known, the food is excellent, fresh and served with style. The hotel also provides a wonderful team of drivers which we found very friendly and accommodating as well. We returned there on our second business trip and will choose this hotel upon our return to the area.

We stayed at this hotel for three days and for one night on our return. The hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished. With a big attractive garden. The pools were big enough for 'dipping', not suitable for serious swimming but still a welcome amenity with plenty of fresh towels available. The room was really spacious with a very comfortable bed, mini bar and coffee maker. We were really pleased with the service from the reception - they processed our exit visas for us on site which saved a lot of time at the airport. We did not eat dinner in the hotel, but the breakfast was excellent. Overall I really recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel La Catalina for the first few days of our honeymoon, left and went to a couple of other cities, and then came back for our last night in Costa Rica. Upon arrival at the La Catalina, we were greeted with smiling faces, kind words, and open arms. We were immediately taken to our top floor room with an incredible view of the whole city. Entering the room, an overwhelming sense of calm came over the both of us. The warmth of the ambiance was undeniable. The following day, the staff arranged for a driver and we took a private tour of the city, being sure to stop at the open markets, old train station, and of course a casino! The driver knew so much about the Costa Rican culture and was eager to answer any questions we had. He dropped us off at the Hotel in time for us to experience the cuisine the hotel has to offer. The beef carpaccio quickly became our “usual” appetizer and the service in the Restaurant was as impeccable as the food tasted. After moving on to two other seemingly comparable hotels within Costa Rica, my husband and I quickly found ourselves discussing the little details other establishments failed to recognize that the Hotel La Catalina had nailed. We absolutely fell in love with the staff at the Catalina and the accommodations. We felt like we were in our own secret hideaway and it was the perfect place to start, and then end, our honeymoon.

I stayed at the La Catalina Hotel with my husband and 2 young children (4 and 5 years old) We stayed for only 2 nights at the end of our trip before going to the airport. We had a day to kill and the staff were extremely helpful in organizing a private tour of a couple of popular sights for us. We ordered room service from the restaurant both nights after the kids had gone to bed. It was so delicious, everything was well presented and all this on our balcony overlooking the city and landscape. It was one of the most romantic moments of our lives. We used the pool one morning and it was very clean. Comfortable lounge chairs and pool towels for you convenience. Bathrooms were exceptionally clean! Our room was wonderful. Clean, comfortable beds/pillows, spacious, fully stocked minibar. The balcony overlooks the pool and landscape. We didn't venture out of the hotel except by taxi so not sure what else was around but I would definitely return to find out! I honestly can't imagine why anyone would give this hotel anything less than 5 stars.

Heredia, Costa Rica the Catalina Hotel is a great place to visit, I was there last August and I came with my family and we spend a great time the kids were very entertaining with all the activities available at the place, we enjoy so much the visit to the Poas volcano that is very close from the hotel, also we spend most of the time in the hotel due to there were activities to do at the hotel as well, we play tennis, table tennis and for the smaller kids there’s a playground and swimming pool, I think that is very good for the bird watching lovers, we waked up very early to walk around the gardens and there were many species of birds feeding themselves of the blooming plants, we stayed one week and it was great we eat very good, in the nights you can enjoy the heated swimming pool or just take a cocktail next to the fireplace we really appreciated to the whole Catalina’s staff for their attention, they were outstanding.

Heredia, Costa Rica is great place for mountain and bird watching lovers, I was there last August and it was wonderful we spend a great time visiting the Poas volcano that?s very close from the hotel, we were delighted with the view of the valley, so we spend long time enjoying the view from their restaurant and resting right next to the fireplace with a delicious cocktail and also in the fresh mornings you can go out of your room and watch a lot of species of birds around the lush gardens at the area or play a great tennis game.

We had a hard time finding the hotel, but once we did we were happy. La Catalina is a nice peaceful place. We were able to take several day trips to nearby attractions. The rates were low enough so that we spent several nights at other hotels in other locations that were too far for day trips. The staff was very friendly, especially Henreich, the bar/wait person. A GPS in our jeep would have helped find the hotel and other places easier. Again, staying here gives you a good jumping off place to visit the rest of the country. I would definitely stay here again.

This was my husband's and my first trip to Costa Rica and we were so lucky to find La Catalina. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We felt truly like family. The resort itself is like a little piece of paradise and they have everything you could want. If we are lucky enough to be able to return, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel and landscaped grounds are beautiful. The view of the valley at night is breathtaking. The staff is the best; without exception, each was friendly, helpful, and competent. Our rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. We drank our coffee every morning out by one of two excellent swimming pools, enjoying the wealth of flowers and the songs of birds. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the central valley.
