My husband and I attended the Billy Joel/Elton John Face2Face concert at Nationals Park. We chose the hotel based on its proximity to the park and the Metro station, but also because we wanted to treat ourselves on our weekend away. We arrived at the hotel around 3:30pm only to discover that the hotel did not have our reservation from cheaptickets.com and we were not going to receive a room we had already paid for since they were sold out. Our printed reservation sheet made the rounds of desk personnel, with the manager promising to "look into it" After a lengthy time on hold with cheaptickets.com customer service, they called the hotel directly, spoke to the hotel manager, confirmed our reservation and we were able to check in. All told, this took almost 2 hours to accomplish, while waiting in a lobby full of guests that were waiting for clean rooms to check into (still at 5 pm!). We befriended another two couples that afternoon that ran into the exact same problem we did, only through different internet reservations sites. The desk staff claimed the reservations department didn't download the internet reservations but since one couple had made their reservation online a month prior to the date, the excuse sounded weak. The room lacked a mini-bar and even a mini fridge to keep water cold. It took a trip to the front desk at 1am to discover that our floor and our floor only did not have a drink or ice machine. The room was standard, though we were not given the option of a king size bed as our reservation guaranteed. The room itself was absolutely average, it not a bit shabby looking. The bathroom especially showed its age with worn fixtures and missing grout. I've seen better rooms at Holiday Inn Express! The next morning we woke to find our bill for our room on the floor, after they copied our paid-in-full receipt the night before! The breakfast-in-room option, while convenient, was bland, VERY overpriced and ultimately unworthy of consumption. The desk personnel

Large rooms and very convenient with metro stop downstairs.

I wish I had heeded the bad reviews I read. The location is good, but that is the only nice thing I can say. The staff is terrible and the pool and fitness center especially nasty. The lobby is standard upscale hotel, but the hallways and room furnishing are old and rundown (carpet stains, dents in the furniture, old wallpaper}. It is true the TV service is unreliable as its satellite and will just go black and return to a random channel. After my husband saw bugs in the men's room adjacent to the lobby restaurant...I would recommend eating out. There are sooooo many nice hotels to stay in D.C. this place is not worth it. Dont ruin your trip. If you want a hotel walking distance to the Capital & Mall and a POOL.

The hotel was okay. When you walk in the lobby, you think you are in a much nicer hotel then the actual rooms reflect. The breakfast buffet in the hotel resturant was very expensive and not worth the price they charge. Our room was okay but it was in dire need of remodeling. Having the subway station connected to the hotel was very convienent, but there are literally no resturants to go to the evening in the area unless you take the subway to a different part of Washington.

Everyone was very helpful answering questions and giving directions. Very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. Beds comfortable and room very clean but we had to change rooms when first arrived due to heating & air conditioning units in the roof very noisy. Location was good, lots of walking the blocks are very long we weren't use to that. A lot of food and pharmacy close up around 7:00 p.m. We are use to these type of stores staying open longer. Over all had a wonderful restful time.

The hotel pool was very nice. The hotel was not child- or stroller-friendly. This hotel was not at all like my expectations. We were very disappointed in the service as well as the actual hotel. There is no way this should be a three-star hotel. Also, our air conditioner was leaking through two spots in the ceiling when we arrived at 8 pm. We were hoping to put our 9-month old to bed immediately, but instead of giving us a new room right away, we had to wait for 30 minutes while the houseman tried to fix it! It was impossible to get the baby to sleep with all of the noise. The hotel was like a ghost-town, so I was very angry that they wouldn't just switch our room right away.

I visited D.C. for a quick weekend getaway. The deciding factor in hotel choice was L'Enfant's price, amenities, and location. I would have to say that after arriving I would have paid way more and still been happy. The hotel is gorgeous and centrally located to a majority of the city's historical sites. No problems checking in other than at first I couldnt get to the hotel as the plaza was blocked off for a movie shoot. I explained that I had reservations to one of the security people and they finally let me drive through. It was kind of exciting and irritating at the same time. I'm not familiar with the area and I just wanted to get situated. The staff was uber-friendly and was absolutely ready to serve the customer, a rare treat now adays. I ate at the American Grill and ordered room service several times. The food is exceptional but a tad pricy, although I would say not too pricey for the quality you are getting. The problem is that the cheaper food courts on the promenade under the hotel are closed during the weekends so you are almost forced to eat at the hotel. DC traffic is crazy, I knew when I arrived I would not be driving. That I would either be taking the Metro or taxi so I would like to see that the parking fees be a little less.Yes they house your vehicle for $30/day but I didnt use the concierge service other than to initially park and when I left. I think L'Enfant should consider allowing the customer to park it and get the vehicle ourselves for a lesser fee. Just give us more options most will still choose convenience of concierge. I would love to go again in the future.

Anyone considering staying at this hotel should first be informed that L'Enfant is NOT a luxury hotel. The rooms are comparable to any budget motel and be prepared to pay excessive fees to use the one computer that is available 24 hours a day. My room dhad a view of the federal building next door, not any monuments or city views as described on the website. The rooms are well below any "luxury" standard. The carpets are in bad shape, the furniture needs to be updated andor replaced and the bathrooms are similar to those of a Motel 6. Furthermore, the drinks at the bar are horribly overpriced. I did not try any food, so I can't comment on the quality of the menu items. There are a few pros to staying at the hotel. It's only 10 minutes from National Airport by the green or yellow lines. The National Mall and all it's wonderful sights is a very easy walk. It's worth noting that this hotel is on the south side of the National Mall, where there is nothing but business offices. Most restaurants and other points of interest are on the north side of the Mall. This is a great place to stay if you want a budget hotel experience and can get a great rate. I paid */night, which seemed twice as much as it was worth.

Great place to stay close to the National Mall and there is a breakfast buffet just a block away. Probably not the best place to stay if you are looking for local night life. However probably the best place to be for family's and business travelers. Lots of shops in the Promenade located directly under hotel and within walking distance of National Mall.

Location, above the Metro. No WiiFi, one small bar of soap. Poor baggage service. One sky cap took my bags in and left them in the lobby. I asked for somebody to take them to my room. Nobody showed up. I had to take all the baggage up. We had only one soap for two of us in one room and one for four in an adjacent room. They have no WiFi but available for a fee. No continental breakfast. L'Enfant Hotel, I would not recommend. Service was bad.

We stayed at the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel for two nights (March 6-7) taking advantage of a last minute great deal found online of $/night. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel, the service provided by the reception Staff and the condition of the room. The hotel location is its major asset, just two blocks from the Smithsonian complex by the Mall, and with the L'Enfant Metro station beneath the hotel. The hotel room was well appointed and very clean. The two double beds had goose down conforters and plush pillows, very confortable. We did notice, however, that sound insulation between rooms is rather poor, we could hear the alarm clocks going off in the next room fairly clearly. The hotel has other amenities at the hotel like the indoor pool and the gym, but we just did not have time to check them out... The hotel also offers valet parking for $30/night (before tax) but you can request to get the car out as many times as you wish during the day for no extra charge. There is a restaurant at the hotel and a Starbucks but we didn't try any of them, so cannot comment on those. The Metro station apparently has a very nice food court with a variety of eating options, but they are closed during the weekend. Besides that, there are no restaurants right around the hotel that we could spot. I certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a decent place to stay in Washington DC downtown area. Location is superb and public transportation via Metro is very convenient.

the only good thing about this place is it's close to the museums and there is a metro station under it...the rest is not even worth a penny. They need to clean the hotel from top to bottom and teach their staff the basic customer service skills. I will never use travelocity again...trusted their rating and it turned out to be very false and a big lie

We were there for a family vacation and found our Hotel stay be to great! Very convenient location for walking or riding the Metro. Close to shops and food.

The location was nice. The hotel staff is incredibly rude and clearly does not care about their guests. Don't stay at this. Plus their WI-FI is not free. And their indoor pool is not that great. Restaurant service is just as poor as the service elsewhere in the hotel.

A friend and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend visit. The staff was friendly except for one of the front desk girls. We arrived at the hotel around 1AM, and had no problems. The only negative thing we ran into was when we needed our car late one night, and there was only one parking valet, and it took about an hour to get our car. Parking was around $30 a night, which was higher than some other hotels in the area. Room service was quick and friendly. They were actually fimling a movie during our stay, but we didn't run into any delays or problems there. The metro is located in the promenade below the hotel. There are several gift shops and other brand name stores there also. They have a McDonald's and several small sandwich shops and dessert shops. The prices were cheaper than the breakfast buffet at the hotel, which was about $20 a person. The shops are only open Monday-Friday, but there are a few restaurants opened on the weekend. The rooms were pretty spacious and the beds were comfortable. The only problem I had there were the feather pillows. I'm not a fan of feather pillows. I would definitely stay at the this hotel again in the future. It is a short walk to most of the musuems and National Mall.

This hotel is an easy walk to the Smithsonian, Archives, Monuments and Memorials. The Metro is directly beneath the Hotel Lobby and very easy to access. Promenade Mall with a McDonald's was also very handy...plan wisely though, the McD's and most of the stores on the Promenade are closed on Saturday and Sunday. The Hotel seemed to be understaffed at times. The Lobby was often full of people who were attending meetings, but were not necessarily staying in that Hotel. The rooms were clean and the beds were VERY comfortable. The Hotel Cafe was good food but not worth the inflated prices. I recommend eating in the Promenade below or just ordering a pizza for delivery. The gift shop was handy for snack food and other stuff, but again, the prices were too much! I suggest taking the Metro to the Crystal City station and buying your junk food at the TARGET there! Also...souvenirs are much cheaper when bought from street vendors, not from the Hotel stores. The Hotel staff was very helpful when they weren't tied up helping other folks. They gladly stowed our luggage on checkout day until we were ready to leave for the airport. Overall, it was a great experience. You can't beat being that close to everything!

Upon check in on 4th of July, I discovered they had me booked for only one night and had no additional rooms available. It was left up to me to resolve the issue with Orbitz/Cheap Tickets. I was, in fact, booked for two nights. No apology. The error was blamed on Orbits. I had a horrendous view of the swimming pool. The staff was unfriendly. Lobby shop that was scheduled to open at 7 did not on either of the two days I was a guest. When checking with a staff member on the opening time, he kept repeating seven o'clock. Breakfast buffet--selection, presentation and cost-- was terrible. Waitress strongly encouraged not ordering from the menu. It seemed as though she was encouraging less work for herself. I waited a long time to stay at this hotel, but I will not return. Also, cost of parking was quite high. Because I took my vehicle out of the garage after two hours, I paid a full day rate plus another full day rate when I returned several hours later.

Location, service, accommodations, access to metro. Wonderful experience. Hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Reasonable walking distance to the Mall and Smithsonian Museums as well as indoor access to the Metro and hence Union Station. View of the canal was lovely. Food was excellent. Breakfast buffet was exceptional. Will definitely return when we again visit Washington DC.

This hotel had a great location only blocks from all the major tourist attractions. The bathrooms are a little small but we were not in our room much so it didn't really matter. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed having a little pub in the hotel especially after walking all day. I would definately reccommend this hotel and we are planning on visiting again soon. Harrisonburg-VA

I stayed four nights while attending a conference at the Washington Convention Center. My room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful. You only have to go one level down from the lobby to the Metro stop (right under the hotel), which serves 4 different routes, so the location was very convenient. I had one dinner in the restaurant, which was incredibly good, if a liittle pricey. I'll come back here any time I come to D.C.
