I stayed at the Koreana Hotel in Seoul and it was fantastic. Close to all the tourist attractions and the train station. Staff were very helpful and made the stay pleasant. When I arrived early there were no rooms available but they could see I was very tired and they went out of their way to get me a room. When my computer did not work with the internet connection they gave me complementary use of the business centre. I would definitely use this hotel again and recommend it to friends.

My wife and I stayed twice at the Koreana within a 10 day period. The first time the room cleanliness was excellent. The second time the rug was unvacuumed. There was dirt on the floor and numerous sharp paper staples which represented a substantial hazard to one's feet. But we'd stay again with no hesitation.

Since the anti-government protest has started to really pick up a few weeks ago, coming in and out of Koreana Hotel has become rather dangerous. Some days, protesters barge into the lobby to block guests from checking in or out, other days they start fights with hotel staff. What's the reason behind all this ruckus? It just happens so that Koreana Hotel is owned by the prominent businessman Bang Sang-Hoon who also happens to be the publisher of staunchly pro-government Chosun Ilbo daily. The hotel's convenient location in central Seoul with various government offices and the presidential residence nearby, and Chosun Ilbo's market position as the dominant conservative paper in Korea has made it a favorite destination for the protesters. To be fair, aside from the security issues, the hotel is excellent - its rooms are quite spacious, cleaniness impeccable, and rates are very reasonable. But, I don't think I will be returning to Koreana anytime soon as I value not getting punched in the face.

Good location and fairly cheap. Breakfast buffet was good, dinner food was average. The rooms felt very old. The bed was horrible and old. Average hotel, I probably would not stay there again.
