Kong Frederik Hotel Copenhagen

The Kong Frederik Hotel enjoys a great location two minutes' walk from the town square and the main pedestrian street, Strøget. The hotel was given its current name in 1898. However, the hotel dates back much further. There have been inns, pubs and hotels on the site since the 14th century, and there is certainly a feeling of history and tradition here. To one side of the reception is a large open fireplace and, just behind the lobby, is the large lounge atrium ‘Queens Garden’ where tea is served. The very elegant Frederiks Bar & Restaurant opened on 1 July 2000. The classic Victorian English style with dark panelling and Chesterfield furniture contrast with the airy feel of the rest of the restaurant. An a la carte menu offers international cuisine (although the emphasis is on French food) and this also where the very extensive Scandinavian buffet breakfast is served. Rooms are decorated in a traditional English style with plenty of dark mahogany furniture and elegant drape furnishings. Despite the age of the hotel the facilities are up to date and all rooms offer high-speed internet access. Although the hotel does not have any fitness facilities of its own guests are invited to use the gym at the sister hotel, D’Angleterre. For some traditional luxury within easy reach of the Copenhagen’s attractions the Kong Frederik remains a very good option. NB. All rooms have en suite facilities
