Castle Kona Bali Kai is located on the sunny Kona Coast. This condo resort is situated just three miles from historic Kailua-Kona village and one mile from Kahaluu Beach Park. Beginning March 15, 2009, Castle Resorts will provide mid-stay housekeeping service for stays that are 7 days or longer, which includes changing of linens and towels, vacuuming, and cleaning of bathrooms as well as kitchens.As a result, this properties will not be offering daily maid service in lieu of this mid-stay clean. Daily maid service will be honored for any reservations that are booked prior to March 15, 2009. Guests who are staying less than 7 days can purchase additional housekeeping services at nominal costs. Extra towels and amenities will be provided in each unit prior to check-in. Guests can request for replenishment of the bath amenities (shampoo, soap, toilet tissues) at any time without charge. There will be a small fee for the replacement of towels/linens.

Partial Ocean view was not view. And the rooms don't get cleaned except after the 5th day the give you 2 towels and 2 washclothes and expect you to laundry them everyday When we asked for clean ones the lady got a attitude with us. Also the hotel was just about empty and they ran out of pool towels. I was disappointed with the hotel But my trip was great

I would recommend this hotel for people with families. This hotel was equipped with everything. This hotel room was clean and quiet. I was surprised to see a stereo in the room, my teens would love to play it.

The Two-Star rating is about right. The best feature of our "Partial Ocean View" room was watching the surfers across the street every morning from our lanai. Unlike the "full ocean view" units on the ocean side of the street, ours had an window air conditioner which we used. The kitchen was reasonably well equipted (full fridge, stove, microwave, blender, coffee maker, adequate cookware, glassware & dishes) but we ended up buying them a decent paring knife and some new ice trays from the nearby Wallmart. The room was clean enough and the sheets and towels were very clean, but the bedspread and pillow shams were quite worn. The daily maid service was inconsistant. We had to ask for them to empty the trash and provide new towels on a couple occations. Ample free covered parking was available and the room had free wired internet which we really appreciated. The location is south of the major town area of Kailua-Kona making the great snorkeling adjacent to Place of Refuge an easy drive. They had a great courtyard pool and hot tub that we had mostly to ourselves. It was perfect for my economical standards but my husband would have preferred something more "posh" (and a lot more expensive).

Close to ocean. Loose tiles on floor (not ceramic). No ocean front studios. One or two bedroom condos nicely located on the ocean front. Good parking. One bedroom ocean front for $199 per night is too expensive unless sharing. Highway is noisy but at least there is no noise from pubs or bars, etc.

I stayed here 18 years ago and returned. My wife and I found it had been well maintained over the years. Very comfortable beds and units have everything you would need. The shore near the hotel is frequented by green sea turtles. Some of the best snorkling is only 2.5 miles south at Kahaluu Beach Park. The Kona Bali Kai is a great value for your money and I would stay here the next time I am on the Big Island.

It was in Hawaii. Traffic outside door, across from a public beach. Was not very clean when we arrived. Next to Alli drive which is very loud due to a lot of traffic. Parking was difficult due to full time residence living in the same building with reserved parking spots. The beach across the street had a large group of locals and what appeared to be transients. We would not venture over there! One day we found one of these people walking through the back side of the building we were staying at with no business for his being there. Security was a concern.

We got upgraded from a partial ocean view to a full ocean view room. Our condo was spacious with 2 bed/2 bath/kitchen/living room/lanai. It was well decorated and also included washer/dryer. We had a great view of the ocean and saw sea turtles from our lanai. It was very convenient and we totally enjoyed it.The negatives were no A/C in our condo and the carpet was a little dirty. They did have ceiling fans and table fans available.

This was close to a great snorkeling location and very close to "downtown" Kona. The lanai was large and we fell asleep out there listening to the waves. The view was awesome and the condo was large.

Liked having kitchen necessities available. Especially refrigerator. Like to have clean towels everyday. Seemed to be clean. Staff at front desk were friendly at check in and out.

The room was spacious ( 2 full bath, seperate bedroom, living room, and full kitchen) with beautifully udapted bathrooms. The room was just steps away from the ocean. It was a perfect spot because we love the sound of ocean waves. This was also a surfer's hot spot so we got see them surfing daily which was great for our son. It's a great spot to kick back, relax, surf, swim, and sun bath. This hotel is truly oceanfront with a breathtaking view!!!The staff was friendly and always available.

We booked a room that said partial ocean view. What they ment to say is if you lean over the Balcony you can kind of see the ocean. We where put in a room across the street from the main resort and the room was awful. After the first night and fighiting with the staff, we upgraded to the main resort and the accomodations where beautfil. I would suggest the main resort, but I would rather stay at a motel 6 than the rooms across the street. So if you book at this resort make sure you are in the main building.. Bottom line if your going to Hawaii, your spending the money, you expect to get what you pay for and the rooms across the street where the worst rooms I have ever seen and we take big vactions to areas like Hawaii twice a year.

We stayed at the room w/ ocean view. The building is very hard to find since we arrived at night and very noisy day time since the room was right face to Ali Drive. Inside room deco is very old. Had a muggy feeling when we entered. We found a big roach! Bathroom (inside shower, washing counter) had molds. Celling fan had a lot of dust and request to clean immideatly. The front desk didn't even say sorry and didn't offer to change the room! However they came to clean the celling fan fast. One day shower head came off and hit my daughter's shoulder and I reported to the front to fix it. The front desk had a contempt laughing when I was talking to her!! They have every day maid service, but I thought it is little bit too much since we were staying at condo. We won't consider to stay again. I wanted to hear from the manager for all things happended in a week! But of course nothing offered!

This was a nice quiet and roomy condominium. We had the mountain view and were delighted with it and the garden on the other side. We were on the go and didn't miss the ocean view at all. The third floor in our unit across the street from the main building didn't have an elevator and sometimes was a long way up. If your have stair problems be sure and reserve accordingly.

"We were a little sceptical about the hotel at first, but very pleased once there. The room was large with a full kitchen and laundry. There wasn't any air conditioning, but it turned out to be better because we were able to leave the lanai doors open to hear the ocean. Along with the many ceiling fans, we were never hot. The veiws and sunsets from the lanai were amazing. There wasn't a hotel restaurant but there are many nearby restaurants. Highly recomend Mahina's Pizza, Jamison's, Lava Java and Kona Brewing Company. Great hotel at a great price. We will absolutly stay there again."

Plus: Great view of palm trees, waves, and Sea Turtles Pretty convenient location, but a bit far to walk to town. Large. Two bedrooms two bath Free Laundry in the Condo Minus: No A/C No wireless except at very high cost downstairs Maids leave room unlocked after cleaning! No staples provided in kitchen except coffee, not even sugar, etc.

The studio rooms are like being "home" on the Island. Some linoleum tiles need repair or re-gluing. Edges are coming up. We've stayed here before and would definitely stay again. I love the studio living, with fully equipped kitchen. It's relaxed, comfortable and homey.
