I wanted an inexpensive hotel to sleep in one night prior to an art show in Saugatuck. My husband was traveling with me. This was a most horrifying experience. As soon as we drove up to this property I had a feeling of dread. It looked horribly run down and the Knights Inn sign was actually a vinyl banner covering an old sign). We had a lot of gear with us and it was late so we thought we would tough it out. We checked in and the front desk person was pretty friendly and helpful. The put us in a room in the back and I did not feel very safe there considering the guests we walked by in the other rooms with open doors. Our room was pretty grim - the worst I've ever seen, but considering the rest of the property, I did not think moving to another room would have helped. The faucets in the bathroom dripped, the sink and tub were horribly stained - looked dirty even they were just stained, there was a hole in the bathroom ceiling exposing pipes, and the shower curtain was disgusting - covered in mildew. The shower walls were also covered in mildew. Later, we noticed that the bedsheets were dingy and had large STAINS! Horrible. So my husband went out and bought a sleeping bag to cover the bed and pillows and Lysol. We also used paper towels to dry off after our shower. I did not trust their stained, threadbare towels. The listing for this hotel stated it had wireless Internet and a refrigerator. The wireless did not work in our room and there was no refrigerator. The front desk clerk allowed us to store our food and beverages in the office fridge and my husband used the wireless in the lobby (among the arguing, scary guests). She offered to get us a fridge for our room, but I just didn't want the hassle. Our upstairs neighbors were very loud and I was able to get a little less than three hours sleep before a busy day of setting up, exhibiting, and tearing down at an art show. The hotel experience was so terrible that our party was forced to cut our reservation short because of the sub-standard rooms that were there. This hotel should never be recommended to anyone and is a bad experience waiting to happen.
