I didn't like it - found it pretentious, strange unfriendly decor. No use of lounge because of wedding party, breakfast didn't taste v. nice and no one to cook omelettes - understaffed - did get omelette but waited ages as we did for a drink at dinner - husband could see them on the bar but didn't make their way over to us! Shower didn't work at first so got free car parking - don't you think its a cheek to charge?

A very grand hotel at a realistic priceThis was my 1st visit to Chester and was interested to compare the place with York. First the Kings at the Queens hotel.... it sits across the road from the railway station and looks very grand, I did expect it to be a bit tired inside like alot of hotels from its era but how wrong i was, from its red carpet leading up the front steps to the very top of the Kings quarters the hotel was very well presented. Our room king constantine was a good size, well decorated and fitted with a well laid out and spotless bathroom. We only had breakfast so can only comment on that food wise... It was excellent and plentiful in very nice surroundings. The only minor negatives like all hotels it could fit soft closing rooms doors. Best bit for me was the quality of the beds and bedding!

An Excellent hotel!!We stayed here for one night in a family room in the Kings Suites. It was immaculate, beautiful decor and the extra touches really made the stay a special one. The buffet breakfast was the best Ive ever had in the UK and staff cant do enough for you. I am definately booking here again. :-))

Short Break - The Kings the The QueensWe tried all over the place for a good quality room for Saturday night only. Most would only do a two night break but this hotel was happy to oblige. Apart from a long wait to check in the whole experience was first class. The concept of having a separate 5 star section of the hotel worked really well and the facilities were everything they promised. Brilliant room, spotless and luxuriously appointed and a lovely well run restruaunt with good food.We have already recommended the place to family and we would certyainly go again.

First Class ServiceThis hotel is the best I've ever stayed in. Very well organised and professional, the staff at all levels were always very friendly and polite. The rooms were spotless and the food was delicious. The spacious bar + restaurant areas were a relaxation paradise. Will definitely be returning again

Oldies view of the KingsExcellent deal from Laterooms. The accommodation was spacious and spotless. Easily located despite misleading directions on Route Finder. Staff at the hotel were uniformly extremely helpful. Cracking breakfast and we will be going back to the Kings again.

Only complaint was breakfast - had to wait a while as had run out of most hot food & bread was not replenished for toast. Excellent room and staff very courteous - would stay again.

Staff friendly, place clean, but poor overall.I booked for one night on the seduction package for my girlfriends 21st. We arrived and the staff were friendly and nice enough, but when we got to the room I was expecting the champagne and chocolates - there were none.I phone down to reception who told me someone was on theire way up - an hour and 4 phone calls later they arrived. We had a flickering light in the bathroom - we were told they were energy saving and were "meant to do that". They didn't acknowledge that it was a single bulb. In the end I took the bulb out myself. We had no bucks fizz breakfast - never mentioned and by then I'd lost the inclination to chase them. The two girls on reception were great and really friendly however the organisation and management were really very poor. If it was a 3* 4* hotel I could understand but having said it was a 5* I was really annoyed and would not stay here again.

An excellent location for those traveling by train or car, We stayed in the Kings wing (room 1410) This hotel was the cleanest I have stayed in, and the rooms were excellent, a good size with very good fittings and a full size LCD T.V. It also had a remote CD player to use if required. nothing was to much trouble for the staf and they made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was the best I have had at a hotel, as the food quality was excellent and you helped yourself to how much you wanted. The hotel was about a mile away from the town but there if a free bus to catch just over the road that takes you into the center and back again. all in all well worth the money and I will be returning again.

My Daughters 21st BirthdayI stayed in the hotel with my daughter for a two night city break for her 21st Birthday. The staff in the hotel are friendly without being over familiary. The food in the restaurant on the second night (we dined out the first night) was amazing and the service is superb. We had a shopping trip planned and a visit to the beautician planned and the hotel was the icing on the cake. We had a fantastic time and both said we felt like we had been away for a week. We cannot wait to come back to the Queens Hotel it is the most positive city centre hotel experience I have had. A big thank you to all the staff - we will be back

Excellent Staff & breakfast is fabWe were placed in Room 1101 which was way to small to be a double room. To get to the wardrobe you had to climb over the bed. Sorry, I tell a lie, there was a 5 inch gap for you to squeeze between the bed & the wall. Apart from that it was wonderful. Room stunning & clean. Bathroom all tiled & bright. TV, Tea/Coffee tray, FREE WIFI YAY!We found that all staff we came accross were very polite and even passing in the coridoor, they would say Hello.Breakfast was a buffet and it was gorgeous. Fruit, Juice, Cereal, Toast, Tea/Coffee and eveything you could want for a full English Breakfast. Will we return? Absolutley

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helped answer my questions about the area. My room was nicely decorated, very clean and modern. I didn't eat at the hotel but the restaurants looked appealing, and the courtyard gardens were pretty and relaxing.

Quirky luxury with a smile.Wonderful room, with just a couple of very minor maintenance issues, not bad for a brand new development. Staff were superb, quality of furnishings and bathroom excellent, really pleasant stay, highly recomended.

Enjoyable stay in comfortable accomodation and attractive surroundings.Unlike some newly refurbished hotels, the Kings at the Queen was clean and fresh and our room along with corridors reception etc were finished to a high standard with no obvious signs that it had recently been refurbished. The staff were polite and friendly and although I can't comment on the restaurant for evening meals, I can say that the breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. Again, staff attentive and polite.

Quality HotelRoom was really large, interior design was of the highest quality, with flat panel tv and ipod docking station and all mod cons, the staff were all really helpfull, only had to book out at 11am the next day, used hotel car park for £7 we enjoyed a day out in Chester the next day before booking out, breakfast was really good. If I ever stay in Chester again this is the hotel I will stay in for sure..
