This hotel is similar to several others in the Union Square area but, with probably the smallest of rooms. But, oh the good price. Paid a super competitive price for this hotel in the heart of the action. The hotel, as with others in this area of downtown SF, is super convenient to everything. Inexpensive cab ride to ballpark or a 30 minute walk. Cable cars and Chinatown within a couple of blocks. Restaurants, bookstore, a zillion shops all within steps. Even caught a bus 3 short blocks away and for a couple of bucks was taken to Haight Ashbury District for some exploring and an interesting self quided walking tour. Staff friendly. Clean rooms. Shower worked better than some I've had in $200 a night hotels. You're going to get the big city noise but, to me that's part of the fun. If you're a light sleeper better try somewhere else.

Lots of charm. Tiny room and bathroom. Excellent location for walking Union District. Nice bar in back of hotel. Old place but well-maintained. On busy stret so expect road and busy city noise.

Ideal location to explore this interesting city. Continental breakfast was not included but we were offered it free of charge as a bonus. We really enjoyed our stay at this small comfortable hotel.

Recently stayed in you hotel for 2 nights; this was not the first time either. Cannot beat the location, and the friendly atmosphere. Of course the hotel is old, but very nicely redone recently. The rooms are small, as well as the bathroom, but very nicely furnished. The hotel check is was very fast, hardly any wait time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Am staying there again, as the location to Bart, Muni, cable cars, and city transportation is so convenient so you can get to any part of the city easily. Definitely would recommend the hotel.

The hotel is in a nice location. The rooms were small, but very clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. I would definitly stay there again.

This hotel is almost 100 years old and in need of some attention. It was clean and cheep. It would not be my first choice. On a budget it is ok. I would forgive this hotel if it were in europe. ( it is not!) The staff is very friendly and helpful. the hotel has one elevator that you have too wait so long for that they have chairs to sit in on every landing, while you wait for the car to arrive at your floor. I walked up and down eight flights on the narrow staircase several times during my stay. Two can not pass on the staircase it is so narrow and steep. The bed was hard and the sheets thin. Still it was cheep and much cleaner than I had expected from the reviews. I would not be afraid to stay there again if I had too.

Great location andfit the purpose of stay/travel. The room was a tab bit small, but it works out for the money. The hotel is located one block away from Union Square. For the purpose of my stay, the hotel was perfect. Overall good experience, and the hotel staff was awesome.

upon arriving at the king george i was greeted by warm smiling faces. i have no words to really describe the professionalism of the staff at the king george hotel. they eagerly helped me with anything i needed at the hotel or with getting around the san francisco area. the rooms were great. reading the other reviews i was thinking the rooms were unusually tiny. my room with two double beds was just fine. if you are a light sleeper the noise on the street may be a bit much. get earplugs (like i did) you'll be just fine. i came to the bay area for the raider game in oakland - cant wait till we play 49'ers in san fran. i will make it my business to stay at the king george again. its also in a great location.

This hotel is very close to Union Square and shopping, just a couple blocks to the trolly and the bus, and is in a safe part of the city. The room was small but very clean and staff was very helpful. Will be staying here again soon!

I enjoyed my trip to San Francisco but the hotel was barely adequate. It had no air conditioning and the entire hotel looked old and cheap. It needs major renovation. In spite of it`s poor state, it was quite expensive. I wish I had booked into the Palace Hotel which cost about the same but was luxurious in comparison to the The King George. The King George staff were very friendly and helpful which compensated to some degree for the shabby surroundings. however, I will not stay there again.

The location was fantastic...only a short 2 blocks to market street Bart and the cable cars. The staff was helpful and the beds were firm for a restful night...the only negative about the hotel was the 3am trash pickup.

Staff was very quick to respond to our problems with the door problem to Rm. 301. Location was great, able to do most of the activities that we had planned. Except for the noise outside our window (hotel cannot control this problem) our trip was great.

Staff was friendly and quick to respond to questions. Initially gave me the wrong room number. This room was perfect for me as a single business traveler, convenient to the Moscone Center as well as shopping and cable car. A very comfortable bed and room-darkening shade contributed to restful nights.

Nice and cosy setting. Room is small but for the money you pay is about right what you get. Bed is reasonably comfortable. Bathroom is clean and comfortable about 3.5 star quality. Free internet access is a plus point. Location is good and within walkable distance to Powell Bart station, chinatown and Union sqare shopping areas. About 30mins or more if you need to walk to Fisherman's warf. The only complain is the lift is slow and cranky, leave early if you need to catch the plane.... .

I wouldn't characterize this hotel as fancy. The elevator is tiny. The rooms are small. You can just tell that this is an old building. That having been said, I loved it! The room was very clean, and very comfortable. The bathroom... spotless. I took advantage of the free wireless, and I walked around the neighborhood. It was a fantastic value for the money and I will definitely stay there again.

Great location. 3 to 4 blocks away from the powell BART. It's a little small, but def worth the stay for the price.

It is charming in appearance and close to shopping and great restrauants. Can be loud if on street side. Rooms can be hot. We love this hotel. I have stayed here a few times. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The decor is quite charming and everything is very clean. The rooms are small, but that is part of the charm of being right downtown in the middle of things. We will come back.

We stayed here during Oracle OpenWorld. I made the reservations and didn't think about air conditioning. Our room didn't have it which wasn't that big of a deal, but would have been nice. We also ended up on a smoking floor and the whole floor smelled pretty bad. Location was great and the staff was very friendly. Older hotel with small rooms, but other than no A/C and the smoke smell, it was okay.
