The room felt indulgent without the price tag. It was a perfect place to feel relaxed and lay around in a big comfy bed.

Location. Needs better morning coffee service. This hotel is comfortable with a well trained, service oriented staff. The location could not be better - right next to Union Square and the Theater District. You could stay here for a long weekend, never go more than 10 blocks in any direction and have a great time. I would recommend a total overhaul on their morning coffee service - the coffee was good, but the OJ was bad and there was nary a sliver of any food. The only other thing on my want list would be to change out the writing desks - white shiny laminate parsons tables from the 70's. That said, I'll be back.

We love staying at the Kensington Park! It's location is superb, as are the staff and accomodations. We'll go back.

We were very excited to arrive in California. San Francisco is a great town! With that said, when we checked into the hotel, the staff was not too accomodating. The water was shut off for 2 hours when we arrived. Unfortunately our room was in the 80's and there was no air, the window could only be open about 2 inches which gave no air flow. The bedding was fabulous and beds comfy, if I didn't have to sweat all night! May be better in the winter time even though there was plenty of noise with the open window. The lines were busy the whole time to the front desk. Not sure what was up with that. Coffee very seldom filled and will cost you for airport transfers (usually these are supplied by the hotels where I live?) Great location makes up for all the problems with the room I guess but will probably try to find another hotel next time. Room very small- not a good bang for the buck! No continental breakfast. The owners may need to take a trip to the French Quarter Inn in Charleston, SC to see what hospitality and amenities are!

This hotel is very cute. The staff is very nice and definately make a guest happy. I needed to check in early by several hours and check out late by one hour. They accomodated my schedule without any hesitation. Staff always greeted me when I arrived/left. Towels and bedding were nice and fluffy. Rooms were cute with unique furnishings. Wireless internet was free and worked well. Nice flat-screen TVs that are mounted so that they can be tilted for better viewing. The lobby area was cute and comfortable as a sitting area. The only thing I did not like was their shampoo, which was kinda like jello.

The location was nice, and the room was ok. The free coffee in the morning was good. The service was sub-par, and the staff not very knowledgeable or helpful. The hotel itself was fairly nice - although very old. The non-draining tub and sink were my biggest gripes with the facility itself. Getting help for transportation needs and restaurant suggestions was like pulling teeth. We also asked for a bottle opener and it never arrived to our room after they said they'd bring it. Little things like that were very disappointing. Overall, it was ok, but not great.

Nice room with very charming and classy decoration. Very clean. The staff is willing to help you with a big smile. No breakfast but you can have free coffee. And if you want you just go next door to the hotel to get croissants, sandwiches and orange juice...(I went there in my P.Js!)Newspaper at my door every mornings! In the afternoon, complimentary cherry and wine in the lobby !They have a restaurant but too pricey for us (looks good though!) We enjoyed it very much and the location is just perfect, just around the corner of Union Square and the Cable line ! You can go anywhere from there.

Outstanding location, very nice room. Bath fixtures are a little dated, but they are nice. If you want a nice boutique hotel in the heart of San Francisco shopping, Kensington Park is an ideal place to stay. The room was very nice and the bed was outstanding. The staff was polite and helpful and the historic tile, woodwork and wall painting is eye-catching.

The beds were very comfortable. Without easy access to a restaurant, there was not option for room service. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Perfect location in Union Square. The rooms were inviting and comfortable. My suggestion is: since there is a restaurant next door, the hotel should provide a menu and information about the availability of take out or delivery for a late night meal from the restaurant.

Very close to a cable car stop, only abou 80 feet away. If you prefer, you can take the cable and go down to the cable car turnaround (one stop away), where the BART station and MUNI buses/streetcars can bring you almost anywhere. Thr room is big enough for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 small children). Good furnishing with a LCD TV. Only limited channels. Good lighting. Lack of bathroom counter space, but it is clean. The bathtub is low (not the usual one you find in your home), water pressure is great. In-house parking is $35 overnight (exc tax), so go park at White House Garage (intersection of grant/stockton, which is 2 blocks away. rate is $29 a night (exc tax), anything beyond 8 hrs is considered one day. Driving is horrendous (and parking), so consider taking the public transportation which can bring you to Fisherman's Wharf, Embarcardero, Chinatown, Financial District, Litte Italy (north beach), Lombard St (crooked st), etc. Cable car is $5 one-way, and MUNI buses are $1.50 each. The BART goes by distance. If you buy the 3-day MUNI passport at $18, you can travel unlimited on MUNI buses/streetcars and cable car. BART not included. Walgreens (around the corner of hotel) sells the passport. The cable car can get very crowded at the stop, so you might want to get down to the turnaround for boarding. The food in Chinatown is good, you can get good dim sum. The hotel can get slightly noisy in the early morning (garbage trucks), so maybe you want to request for higher floors.

We had a great stay at the Kensington!! The staff was very friendly and knowledgable about the city. If I had to sum this up in 3 words it would be, friendly, location, affordable!!!!

The decor was beautiful. It was amenity-lean. Very few TV channels, no shower cap, no robes. This is a beautiful hotel, but doesn't compare with Kimpton or Joie de Vivre hotels. When I arrived I was told I would be staying at a sister property. I dug my heals in the sand and said no, and a room was found. Very few TV channels are offered. There is no restaurant associated, so I used waiters on wheels for dinner. There was no shower cap, robe, or extra bar of soap in the shower.
