What are your breakfast options?

The Kaikoura gateway Motor Lodge offers a continental breakfast which is delivered to your room the evening before, the cost of this is $13.00 per person.

What transport is available to get around?

We have taxi/shuttles available in Kaikoura. However, we are only 400 meters from the town centre and most attractions.

What can I do nearby?

Kaikoura Gateway Motor Lodge is the closest Motel complex to the town centre. We are located on the main road just 400 meters south of the turn off into the main shopping centre, we are also close to the Whalewatch Centre and other activities. Some of our first floor units have park views and some have mountain/sea views.

We have many attractions and activities including our famous Whale Watching which is a “must do” when you visit us, if you are susceptible to sea sickness then we recommend a plane or helicopter flight to see the whales, this costs approx. $20 more for flights and $50 more for helicopter per person but is well worth it because you see the whole whale even if it dives and a larger area of the ocean is covered, also an opportunity to see our breathtaking coastal & mountain scenery from the air, whale watching is available all year round.

Another popular activity is Swimming With The Dolphins or Swimming With The Seals (or watching them), here is an opportunity to interact with these acrobatic mammals in their natural environment. Our interactive marine environment also provides Albatross & Sea Bird Encounters, Dive Tours, Snorkelling Tours, Kayaking, Marine Tours, Surf Tours and numerous Fishing Charters with fishing trips form 3 to 7 hours duration.
