Pool. No internet - outage, dumb. Good atmosphere, brought my Mother, she stayed 2 more nights without me, and went smooth.

Stayed in economy room. No place to hang clothes. Somewhat difficult to control room temperature. Very convenient location for Mayo Clinic guests. Clean, comfortable accomodations with very helpful staff. Food at inhouse restaurants was quite good and moderate to high in price.

Location! Right across the street from Mayo Clinic. Close to restaurants. I liked this place. It has the feel of an era that has been forgotten by many. The lobby with the old chandelier is beautiful. While the room was smaller than most, it was fine. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable.

The hotel is older and room was dated. But to be as close to the Mayo Clinic and the rate as reasonable, makes you overlook some things. Have been there before and will probably stay there again.

Starbucks in lobby. Old staff was not friendly charged for toothbrush and toothpaste. Hotel is old and rooms are small. Needs to be updated. Will not stay here again.

This is THE place for Mayo Clinic Rochester folks although it is more like a luxury resort than a waiting spot for medical needs. Personnel is BEYOND good; shops and services are excellent; price is wonderful value; accessibility through the catacombs for medical appointments is SPECTACULAR particularly in the cold dark winter months; I (and mother and family members) have stayed there at least 12 times now and we have never never been disappointed! Make this YOUR place too!

The Kahler Grand hotel is old and has some HVAC problems, but it is otherwise very pleasant. Its proximity to Mayo Clinic and its price make it ideal. The in-house restaurant, the Grill, tends to serve salty food, but there are several dining options nearby. The only negative during a recent stay was that the gift shop was out of almost every candy and snack food. Its usual supply is not on the healthy side, but this time it offered very little.

Very unique loved the wood the mattresses were great and the hotel was great for a business person or one coming and going not spending a lot of time in their room. The staff went out of their way to accommodate things and make the changes we needed. I was pleased with their staff. Just an older hotel

Kahler Hotel is an OK Hotel..just a little too dated for my liking. Cheap 70's furniture in it.

We got a great price for the room. They only had smoking rooms left. When I told them that would be a problem, they put my wife and I into a room with two single beds. As I mentioned above when we checked in we were told that only smoking rooms were left. When I told them that would be a problem for my wife's breathing, they put my wife and I into a room with two single beds which was better than a smelly room. The 10th floor where we stayed may have been under construction because we had to walk around junk in the hallways. I would think that they could have moved the stuff into rooms being worked on, but stayed in the hallway during our whole stay. The Kahler Grand Hotel is an older hotel but with class - it is a nice place. With the price I got for our room I wasn't going to complain about anything.

The structure itself, the public areas, the rooms, the plumbing fixtures and the decor would fit well in a 1940s era film. Maintenance has been deferred. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. I came away with the impression that the business plan of the owners is to milk the unique location adjacent to the Mayo Clinic for as long as possible.

The staff did an excellent job of meeting our needs. It was too hot in our room even though cold air was supposed to be on. My husband had always wanted to stay here so we finally took the opportunity. Everyone should stay at least once if not again and again. A beautiful hotel, lots of interesting history and the staff is one of a kind. Very friendly and very helpful and informative. We'll stay again!

First, the hotel's location is excellent. It is downtown and is for all intents and purposes almost a part of Mayo Clinc itself, being a 30 second walk from there. The hotel itself is comfortable and the staff were very friendly and basic ammenities were available. The hotel as a building though from the inside is starting to show its age. The bathrooms were clean but obviously old and the water had a very strong taste of chlorine basically necessitating that you buy the hotel's $2.50 bottles. Also it is a little on the expensive side but compared to other hotels in the area it seems like it is a reasonable price. Overall I would recommend it and I think for shorts stays it is more than adequate. I think my complaints stem from the fact that I was there for 10 days and eventually all these small things and more start to become more noticeable.

The Kahler Grand is an older building in downtown Rochester, connected to the Mayo Clinic complex via subway. The room I had was the most inexpensive. It was small but very clean and comfortable. There were plenty of towels, the bed was comfortable, the TV worked fine. The Kahler Grand has a very fine restaurant on the first floor which I have eaten at many times. While it is not world class it is very good. I will continue to stay there in the future.

Staff was very accommodating and it was a beautiful, clean hotel (we had a smoking room too). It is a nice, upscale hotel. The room was smallish but my Mom and I with tons of luggage had plenty of room. The restaurants are great. It is difficult and quite a walk to the parking garage but we managed. Great shopping right around the corner and Mayo Clinic right across the street. We will definitely stay here again. The room smelled wonderful even though it was a smoking room, the bedding was beautiful, bathroom was marble. So nice.
