Location Description:
Located along the beautiful west coast of Maui, Kahana is perfectly situated between Lahaina and Kapalua, surrounded by Maui's spectacular natural beauty. Kahana lays between the lush West Maui Mountains, and the Pacific Ocean.Kahana has plenty of terrific restaurants and shops, but is closer to nature than the crowded Ka'anapali/Lahaina area just down the coast. The location is excellent for vacationers who want to be near the local attractions and amenities, but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet.

Plenty of space for a small family with the separate bath and bedroom. Spectactular view of the ocean from the lanai. We could see the whales swim by every day. There was no need to go on a whale watching tour.

We stayed at the Kahana Reef last year and loved the view. The condos have the most beautiful view of the ocean and sorrounding areas. The place was pleasantly furnished and clean. I would go back again. The views from the Lanai are amazing.

we enjoyed our stay, we would go back. our unit was very clean and in good condition. There are many good places to eat on Front St. Kimo's was one of our favorites if your looking for authentic hawaii food, pretty drinks, beautiful surrondings.

Good location, nice layout. The lanai and ocean-front views are great. Staff don't really do anything for you- it is up to you to make your bed, wash towels/linen, and take out garbage. The beds were lumpy, hard, and very uncomfortable. Beware that there is no airconditioning, just ceiling fans. The biggest problem experienced on two occasions was raw sewage that came up the shower drain when the toilet was flushed. Resortquest was slow to respond to the distress calls. The local plumber explained the delicate and tempermental nature of the plumbing at this facility. The stove also had a "short" that would trip the circuit breaker, shutting off power to the condo.

The Kahana reef is a neat place with beautiful views of the ocean. All of the condos have an oceanside view. The condos are all individually owned so they may vary. We stayed in 415 and it was in great shape: modern appliances, countertops, cabinets and other accessories. Plus, it was clean. The laundry facility has brand new coin-op washer and dryers. Make sure to bring your quarters as there is no change machine on-site. The Kahana reef is in a quiet part of Maui, but just a short drive to the more touristy locations. We loved it and would definitely stay here again. It is an hour from Kahului airport, 15-20 minutes from Lahaina town and 35-40 minutes from Kihei.

"This is not one of the super resorts, but for the price you get a beautiful ocean view and the sound of the ocean throughout your stay. If you want new, then you can pay 4-6 times as much and not get the view or the sounds of the ocean at a super resort. Rooms were nice and clean, but I stay at Maui for the beautiful beaches and ocean, not the hotel room."

The Kahana Reef condo we stayed in had it all. From comfort to every convenience of home. We truly enjoyed the ocean view and the sound of the waves every day. We found the property to be very clean and all the people friendly. The propoerty is very close to shopping and Lahaina. We would recommend this condo and we will be back to the Kahana Reef the next time we visit Maui.

Was very disappointed with my stay there. The place needs to be updated. Everything was old. Was not what I expected at all. The pictures of the rooms on their website must have been an updated room. My room was nothing like the one in the picture. My room badly needed updating. The only nice thing about this place was the view. I would never stay there again.

There was not a leather couch or flat screen television. The bathtub and living area carpet were worn and stained looking. The bedding and linens were not fresh. I would not recommend the Kahana Reef.

"This was our first time in Maui and our honeymoon. Enjoyed having a kitchen, had very quiet and relaxed atmosphere, short drive for snorkeling and shopping, staff was very helpful. Had ground floor room and loved being able to just walk outside and sit in a lounge chair and enjoy the sunsets and watch the waves. Not a huge beach but we did get to see turtles swimming by. Bed was very hard but would stay here again in a heartbeat. "

The Kahana Reef condo was just what we wanted, off the main road but right on the ocean. We had a quiet relaxing and beautiful place to retreat to after enjoying the busy town of Lahiana. All the shows and attractions were close but not keeping us awake. The room was spotless and well arranged so it seemed larger. Everything we needed was right there waiting for us. One of the staff members was less than friendly but everthing was kept clean and neat inside and out. We will gladly book the same place upon return.

Our stay was wonderful. I loved the ground floor because we could go sit under a tree out in the lawn. The Kahana Reef is a small and quiet place. The China Boat restaurant is just across the street and has great food and service.

I would recommend Kahana Reef to anyone going to Maui and wanting a home away from home. Everything I needed was there to make me feel as if the unit was my own. When I first walked into the unit and did not find an air conditioner I thought I may have made a mistake, but with windows open and ceiling fans running it was as cool as if it were air conditioned. I will definately stay here again when I go back to Maui.

This is a condo, not a hotel. Nobody was on site to answer questions when we arrived (at 8:30 PM); Though we didn't find this a big problem, others might. Everything else was great!
