The hotel was really nice. It is in need of updating but it was really appropriately kitch-y. As we walked into the lobby, we smelled the flowers from the Hawaiian trees just outside. It was a great welcome. The location is great - the best beach on the island is right there with snorkeling 100 feet away as well at Black Rock. The staff, while nice and helpful, seemed overworked. They looked pretty exhausted and we spoke to one staff member who mentioned that he had worked for 29 days straight without a day off (and that was on hour 10 of the day for him). All of them still trying to be helpful, but overall exhausted. One of the nicest evenings we spent was on the beach at the resort. We ordered pizza, shared a couple of beers, and watched the sunset. It was really perfect.

We were unbelievably happy with the KBH. Don't pay for oceanview unless you REALLY need to see the ocean out of your room. The "garden/pool view" room was fantastic. Bathrooms were newish and clean. The gardens were beautiful, the ocean just a few steps away, and the nightly music, aaaahhhh, to sit in your room or on the Lanai and listen to live music every night for two hours, and know that you are getting a great deal. It was almost more than I could handle! Seriously, I WILL go here again. We ate elsewhere.

They claim that they are the most hawaiian hotel, and they were. Although one of the older hotels, it was clean, staff was friendly, and the departing ceremony quite charming. After finding out it was our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, a bottle of champagne and two glasses were awaiting our return that evening. Location is excellent! I highly recommend this hotel.

These folks were so kind, friendly and just all out great in every aspect. On 2 occasions we needed room assistance and they were there in minutes. The rooms however really need to be upgraded. They are working on some, and if you get an unsuitable room, just ask. They will upgrade for a fee if one is available. It's just an older hotel and if you don't mind that then you can't stay at a better place. Request a room in a newly remodeled wing and you should be fine. The food was okay at best and the prices were extremely high in the restaraunt. We only ate once there. Otherwise a great place for a familly (if you eat elsewhere due to cost) with many cultural activities and a super, duper group of staff.

We researched alot of places to stay on our 25th anniversary. We were impressed by the number of people who had stayed 5 times or more. The hotel was everything that we had expected. If you are going to stay in Kaanapali this is the best location. You are central to everything there, swim, eat, golf, shop. You won't have to drive to any of those activities. Free entertainment every night at the stage next to the Tiki Bar. If you are into romantic dinners then definately do a sunset dinner cruise. The boat will pick you up right at the beach. The bottom line is that you can find a newer fancier hotel, (and pay twice as much) but you will not find a more Hawiian hotel or nicer staff anywhere. We will be staying there again.

This was a very last minute trip and I had no idea where to stay on Maui. I had heard of Kaanapali beach and thought this hotel would be a good choice. Ther property is very well kept, the access to the beach is outstanding and the beach is perfect. I had one of their very low end rooms, no view, but it was very nice, large and had a nice patio. The evening music show was great and I had a wonderful time. You can walk to Whalers village, golf and a beautiful beach walk that connects all the high end hotels. I would stay here again without hesitation, excellent experience.

We stayed here on our honeymoon( we are both mid 40's) and we had a great time. We had an ocean view room that allowed us to watch whales any time we were in the room. The nightly hula ahows were a great way to fall asleep every night and the birds were a lovely way to wake each morning. It is VERY clean, has a friendly staff (especially our housekeeper) and convenient location. The magic show is alot of fun too! I cant wait to go back and spend another 10 days. When we were leaving, a family came up to our housekeeper and had such a warm welcome with hugs and oh look how big the kids are getting type of greeting. We just had a blast. It would be a great place for families too. It is close to lots of activities, a pizza delivery, and a nice beach walk. Tons of fun!

Our travel agent recommended we stay here, due to the Hawaiian atmosphere, but warned us that it was a bit worn down. She was a bit far off! From the minute we got there, I wanted to leave. The hallways need recarpeting and a good coat of paint. The rooms themselves are totally outdated and the carpet was so disgusting, I refused to walk around without shoes. Every night, I would dread going back to our room - it was very disappointing. Not only that, but the security at the hotel is non-existant. Doors in the back are propped open, no matter what time of day, letting just anyone roam to any floor of the hotel. My boyfriend wouldn't let me walk down the stairway by myself. The woman at the front desk was not very friendly, but the rest of the staff we encountered was very nice. I wanted to switch hotels, but didn't have time. If the hotel was renovated, it would be a great place to stay, but if you're just looking for a clean comfortable room, keep looking. If you're looking to spend a lot of time on the beach and want to sign up for Hawaiian activities, you may be able to look past it all.

We just got back from a stay at KBH and LOVED it. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, our room was quite comfortable and spacious. WE had a king, a queen sized pullout, a table and chairs, a cabinet with the TV and still there was a lot of floor space for the kids to spread out on. and QUIET. Our room overlooked the nightly luau, and even though we were told we wouldn't have a view of the ocean when we upgraded to a junior suite, we were very pleasently surprised to sweep open the curtains on the lanai to see the ocean over the trees of the peaceful gardens leading down to the ocean. The grounds are cleaned every morning with brooms and rakes. NO noisy leaf-blowers. They have a children's program where the kids get a passport and go from station to station getting stamps and little gifts. When they first check in at the kids program, their passport is filled out with a Hawaiian name. Fun for the kids. THey don't have a program where you drop your kids all day. But you can arrange for a babysitter. They staff all take classes in Hawaiian culture and it shows. I felt like I was being very well taken care of at my favorite Hawaiian aunt's house. It feels very Hawaiian. KBH is no anonymous resort. It is not the chicest place in terms of decor. But everything was clean and well cared for. And very Hawaiian. Definitely a great place to go for a romantic getaway and super great for families with younger children. THere were lots of families with kids under 10 staying when we were there. Several infants, even. We felt we got great service and a great value for the price.

We went to the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel to celebrate our 40th anniversary. It is in one of the best locations on Ka'anapali Beach. We were well pleased with our room and the food at the Mixed Plate and Tiki Terrace. There were plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. We didn't even need a car. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful during our entire stay. There were many activities including hula classes, lei making and pineapple cutting. This hotel is know for being the "most Hawaiian hotel". The aloha spirit is most welcoming. We would definitely return to this hotel .

Hello, my wife and son and myself just returned from maui where we stayed at kbh,the hotel service is as good as advertised,We had a beach front room in the kauai wing and it was very nice, view was incredible, black rock and whalers village are short walks. Snorkeling is incredible at black rock (a must do). While everything was great I do have one complaint and that is the food at kbh is extremely high,so eat and drink in whalers village, food court is a great alternative.I recommend going on a snorkel trip to molokini crater and trying snuba(not scuba)snuba is easy and cheap and anyone can do it.So overall the kbh is a great deal save some money and stay here you wont be dissapointed.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and from the begining to the end it was wonderful. The staff was friendly, our room was clean, and the buffet breakfast was great. The view from our room was fabulous especially the sunsetting over the ocean. We had no problem swimming in the ocean. They even have a farewell ceremony for their guests. If we get a chance to go back we would definetly use this hotel.

We have stayed at this hotel now 3 times because it is the best deal for the money. Stay ocean front and pay the same for this as partial ocean view at most other hotels. Their ocean view rooms are very reasonable also and pretty good view. We enjoy relaxing when we go to Hawaii and this hotel has no stress, no crowds, no long walks to cars, whale watch from your balcony. The Ocean Front rooms are newly remodeled and have refrigerators and coffee makers. The staff is Fantastik and they actually know your name and say hello! We would never stay anywhere else because of the location and view!

Went here for our 25th wedding anniversary after visiting O'ahu & the Big Island. After just one day I told my wife we should have just come here. Staff was very hekpful & pleasant. Our first room had (what we thought) double beds (all our other hotels had been king beds) and called down. They switched our room immediately and we were on a floor that had been recently renovated (They are working on the entire hotel, but one floor at a time). The grounds are kept immaculate, the pool, while smaller than the other hotels around, was nice and relaxing. The ocean & beach are first rate, an easy walk down to the "Black Rock" area where you can snorkel and see nearly every fish that you would on an expensive snorkel cruise, for only the cost of renting the gear from the hotel. The entertainment is OK but you only need to see it once. We didn't eat at the Tiki restaurant (a bit expensive for my taste) but ate at the Grill a few times. The bar was nice, very pleasant bar staff, and cocktail waitresses. You can come here and do day trips to the other islands via ferry, so why go anywhere else?

WE STAYED AT THE KAANAPALI BEACH HOTEL FROM 10/12 THROUGH 10/19 2008. THIS WAS the 2nd time we stayed here and it keeps getting better! The staff is superb, they go out of their way to make you feel like ohana (family). Their activities they offer are a throw back to old Hawaii. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very bright. The nightly Hula show they have is free and open to all. The grounds are very well maintained and it is magical to wake up each morning and smell the plumeria and all of the other flowers. Location in unbelievable right there on the beach. To be honest, we found ourselves staying at the hotel more and more toward the end of the trip because they have so much to offer and their employees are delightful. We are returning to Maui in March of 2009 and of course we will be staying at KBH again. We can hardly wait. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!!

We recently spent a week in Maui at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel. Before leaving, I researched hotels and read a mountain of reviews. We decided on this hotel and did not regret it. From the time we arrived, until our departure, the staff was uniformly gracious, friendly and helpful. No complaints about the room, what little time we spent there. It, like the grounds and other parts of the hotel, was clean and well-maintained. The beach in front of the hotel is great for swimming or just hanging out. I think it is actually better than that in front of the higher-priced places further down, in terms of available space and calmer waters. You are also within swimming or walking distance to the "Black Rock" snorkeling area. Although it wasn't a concern for us, the place seems family friendly and accommodates kids well. We never used the pool, but it appeared clean and uncrowded. Overall, would highly recommend.

We chose this hotel due to the so called very friendly staff and customer service atmosphere. The rooms are very run down and need updating desperately. There were tools laying in the hallway and dust everywhere going up the stairs. There are no elevators so you have to haul all of your luggage up the stairs unless you pay someone to help you. You also have to pay $9 per day to park which they don't tell you up front. We were registered for four people and there were only three towels and when we asked for an additional towel it never showed up. Luckily we only spent one night here - there is no way I would have spent more than one night. We checked out by 8 the next morning because we couldn't wait to leave!! There are much nicer places to stay on the island for around the same price.

This hotel was one of the original hotels along the Ka anapoli Beach and the grounds reflect this. It is truly a paradise with a sense of history. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and enjoy sharing all the complimentary activities, that old and young can enjoy. This hotel has a real sense of hawaiin traditions and history. Its nice to see all the large palm trees and other hawaiin plants all around the grounds. The location is perfect to walk to snorkeling at Black Rock, golf across the street, shopping at Whaler's Village and then local transit into Lahina Front Street to enjoy the art galleries and more shopping. If visiting Maui I would definitely return to this hotel.

Ka'anapali Beach Hotel was the best choice for our Hawaiian vacation. We plan on returning to Maui and staying there every time we are on the island. The hotel is in the most perfect location. The beach is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are clean and comfortable with awesome views. The service you receive from all the staff is excellent. Voted the most Hawaiian Hotel is not only for the design and furnishings of the rooms and grounds but it is for the Aloha spirit that the staff showers you with. The nightly Hula shows and the snorkeling at Black Rock were wonderful highlights on our trip. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to cherish the memories of their Hawaiian vacation. Karen and Alan Waltham, MA.
