Great spot well known around town, decent bar/lounge, easy walking distance to downtown across Burnside bridge. Two things to note - LateRoom price not final price, city hotel taxes added another $20.00, parking in hotel cost $10/night, not outrageous, but unexpected for hotel outside downtown core. Street parking in immediate area, good but watch signs. #20 Bus on Burnside right outside of hotel will get you as far into town or out of town as you could wish for. For those of you coming from outside Portland public transit [TriMet.org] works extremely well. BTW Best old school strip joint in Portland, Union Jacks, @ 1 1/2 block East

It is a popular place for the local. Got rock music playing. Hot and hit place for the 20s to 30s. It is not sound prove. Can hear rock music, steps and others sound.

The Jupiter is a good place to stay if you want plenty of activity happening around you. I stayed for four nights with my three teenage kids and there were always people around at the restaurant, the club or at the outdoor patio. The rooms were large and comfortable and eccentric enough to intrigue the kids. They especially enjoyed writing on the doors which are covered with chalk board material. The neighborhood, located close to downtown and the great restaurants on the east side of the river, is a bit rough around the edges but don’t let that worry you. Breakfast is not included but the Doug Fir restaurant is reasonable and there are an abundance of excellent coffee houses close by. There isn’t a pool or gym and club events and outdoor common spaces can be noisy at night so it isn’t the best place for younger kids. They also charge $8 per day for parking which isn’t mentioned on the website.

Tons of college and post-college kitzsch, good indie music scene, short bus ride from EVERYWHERE. Went to the Japanese Gardens, took less than an hour to get there by bus and on foot. If the mall is more your scene, a ride and a transfer are all you need to get there.

Nothing. This is not hotel it's motel and just for party and drunks only. I am sorry indeed surprised at this hotel was very bad and is located in the unsafe zone and there were many of drunks, and homeless.

A great place for a getaway after a long day, or if you just want a break from the norm. The food and service in the restaurant was a nice extra and the best coffee in the morning. I hope to stay at the Jupiter whenever I am in Portland overnight.

Modern design at an affordable price. Friendly staff and wonderful location. A great alternative to the expensive hotels in downtown PDX.

I kind of liked this hotel. It's an old converted motel, and it now has a bar, tattoo parlor, salon, and conference center. It can get loud at night, but it's close to many things in downtown Portland and it certainly has its charms. I would go again.

I liked the style of the hotel room. I did not like being inconvenienced in not having a working shower or air conditioner in room. It would have been a much better experience if the shower worked. It was so noisy with people yelling until very late. We would have liked to turn in the fan to drown out some of the noise, but that didn't work either.

Hotel was seedy at best with local shops surrounding i.e. witchcraft stores with dead crows. Party nightly and one thrown by hotel on Saturday night. VERY LOUD and no answer at desk - just wanted to know when the party would be over. Restaurant over rated with over cooked food and waite staff who do not like complaints. Front desk accomadating while you were checking in and out. Locked out of hotel room on sunday at 10 AM - they do this to get people out of the hotel - we were there until monday and paid in full. Little or no security. Bathrooms were horrible - wear slippers or socks everywhere - maybe rubber gloves too. Pillows made of fake fur - gross. Overpriced for accomodations. I am a hotel manager at a destination resort in Idaho. Come on....a tatoo parlor with a bass playing at all hours just below our room - ps take a lesson or give up!

This isn't exactly family friendly, but sometimes that's anything but what you want. The city itself is great and the Jupiter made it that much better. The staff were wonderfully friendly from the time I called to verify my reservation until even after we'd checked out. The person who answered the phone @ 8am verified my booking upgraded my room for free. We wanted to take in a little more of the city's cuisine after we'd checked out @ 11am but had nowhere to put our luggage - they let us store it behind the counter for a few hours and were very kind about it. The Doug Fir restaurant and bar is equally young-person friendly but also not "too much" if you just want to grab some coffee and read the paper.

This is a great hotel for rock and roll fans. Different bands every night. If you are not a fan, and like to go sleep early, forget it. The bands are loud and play until about 1 AM. If you do stay there, go out and mingle with the crowds and have fun. And by all means, eat at Doug Fir, and bring your appetite! The hotel is within walking distance of the Portland Saturday Market and Powell's Bookstore. I had a lovely weekend at the hotel.

It's a youth hostel with a bar attached to it. Overpriced for the quality of the room with peeling wallpaper and paper thin walls.

The Jupiter Hotel in Portland, OR is on the surface a kitchy, trendy place decently located near Lloyds Center. For the right type of customer I am sure the funky atmosphere and fun party vibe would be very enjoyable. However if what you are looking for is a quiet evening in a comfortable room, this hotel is not for you. The room was quite possibly the smallest I have ever seen. The advertised "queen" bed was really only a double. The on site club and tattoo parlor were the focal points for parties (music provided courtesy of the blaring outdoor speaker system) in the central courtyard that went on until 4am. On Saturday there were no available spots to park in the access controlled garage. My parking fee was refunded for that night, but its difficult to understand how they sold more slots than they had for the cars to park in. Unless you are looking for this specific type of experience I highly recommend that you stay elsewhere, or a the very least reserve a room as far away from the club and courtyard as possible. Personally on my next trip I will trade kitch for comfort and stay at a chain hotel.

The Jupiter Hotel is awesome. Not only is it literally across the parking lot from one of the coolest music venues in Portland, which also happens to have amazing food, the concept/architecture is awesome. This is not a hotel you want to stay at if you're 60 and uptight. It's not a place to take your kids. My only complaint was that I was at the end of a corridor on the first floor where there was a bathroom that is shared with the little shops (there's a tatoo parlor and a hair dresser along with two Jupiter Hotel business conference room/event spaces). There was a surprise birthday party for someone on the Saturday night and pretty much most of the night there were drunk people coming in and goign out of the bathroom. So-the room wasn't too quiet. I wish I had stayed in one of the rooms with the wall murals. Mine was just white. But, I LOVE the gigantic fuzzy (looks like someone skinned Oscar the Grouch) bolster pillow. The office staff is awesome and incredibly helpful. I even learned some interesting points about the Albanian Mafia..what more can you ask for in a hotel experience?

Young, hip, urban, close to the city and awesome staff. Parties run until 2:00 am - but the room fan drowned the noise. Neighborhood is a touch sketchy. Jupiter is a great hotel if you are young, traveling without family and do not need to get up at the crack of dawn. If you are in Portland for fun it is close to all the mass transit and a short over the bridge walk from down town. Partying does go late so bring ear plugs if a fan is not an option for drowning out noise. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

This was by far the worst place I've ever stayed in my life. And I stayed in a motel in Reno once...this was worse. I think it probably started out as a good idea...someone said, hey let's clean up this old motel, throw some hip plastic ikea furniture into it and call it "a boutique vintage hotel". Then they decided to have a nightclub in the middle of this place where they are charging people way too for rooms to sleep in... Get where I'm going with this? Nightclubs and sleeping do not go hand in hand. The nightclub spills out into an outdoor patio where everyone hangs out and smokes and this large full patio full of partyers is literally in the middle of this U-shaped motel (where there was once parking). So you can hear the party loud and clear from pretty much every room in the place. Now, when I see "boutique vintage hotel", I think of a HOTEL, not motor-inn style MOTEL... "Boutique vintage" makes me think of the 20's or the 40's...charming art deco ivy-covered stone buildings... not popcorn ceilings and aluminum framed windows. But I could have dealt with the disappointment of what the place looked like and area it was in, if it had not been for the hoopla. The ridiculously loud hoopla. On top of the horrendous amount of noise, our room wasn't very clean either. And although safe during the day, I wouldn't walk around this area by myself at night. Honestly, I feel like they should have paid us to stay there instead of vice-versa. The only saving grace was that the lounge restaurant is pretty cool. Food was decent.
