The room was great, although the view - onto an interior well- wasn't, but since we got a good price we weren't surprised not to have the park view. Everything worked perfectly, and we had learned from a review that we could ask for a coffee machine to be brought to the room so we did that. Will definitely be back.

Service, fantastic rooms. Hotel is excellent from the check in to the rooms to the check out. The rooms are amazing. Close to perfect. The TV actually had HD.

We were upgraded to a lovely suite on the 39th floor with excellent views of the city. It was a very good experience.

I make 2~3 trips into NYC every year and we always try out new hotels. The Essex is probably the best deal I've seen so far. Location is great, across from Central Park, near Columbus Circle subway, steps from 5th Ave. The rooms are clean, well decorated, and comfortable; the lobby is beautiful, very classic New York. The attached restaurant is great for drinks after a night out on the town. A must for a classic New York Experience!

A very lovely hotel; gracious service, quiet, comfortable and impeccable. A real splurge for our family but worth it for the experience!

The hotelwas conveniently located close to central park andshopping. The hotel was conveniently located close to central park, shopping and entertainment locations. The concierge personnel were knowledgeable, pleasant and extremely helpful.

This is a classic, upscale full service hotel with unbeatable location, great, friendly service and beautiful (large for nyc) guest rooms and bathrooms; It is on my short list for definite return.

The staff was extremely helpful and polite. The room was very comfortable, nicely appointted, and while not huge, was larger than most of the hotels we have stayed in while visiting Manhattan. The bed was comfortable, the flat screen TV was great.

I visit NYC frequently and enjoy trying new hotels, particularly boutique ones. This ranks as one of the best that I have enjoyed. We had an excellent and helpful staff, wonderful and newly updated rooms (which were spacious for an older NYC hotel), and a location that can't be beat. To our surprise, the hotel has a car service that will deliver you within a ten-block radius (Mercedes SUV). You just tip the driver. The hotel, which was actually the tallest building in the world for a few months before the Empire State Building was completed, is across the street from Central Park, a couple of blocks from Columbus Circle and 5th Ave. What more can I say? You will love it.

Excellent location! Super and friendly staff, I love New York! Made our first trip to New York a great experience. The location was super, south end of Central Park, couldn't have been better! The staff was excellent, any question or problem was immediately resolved.

Pros: - Great location in Midtown right across from Central Park South...Columbus Circle, Time Warner Building, etc. Within walking distance to theater district and 30 Rock. - Nice lobby and very friendly staff...they let us check in 2 hours early. - Clean and modern rooms with many lighting options as well as flat screens. - Great housekeeping services...requested 3 pillows and spoons and they were delivered within minutes. - Good after-hour room service options. - Programmable safe in the room. Cons: - Would have preferred a King size bed over a queen. - You have to pay more for the Central Park view...we were located in the back of the hotel overlooking a construction site...didn't matter we were gone most of the time. Loved this hotel and will stay here again on our next visit to NYC!

Other than the maid service being late to clean up (after 5 PM) the hotel was in great condition and the staff was very friendly. We had a late checkout on the Sunday we left and they were very accomodating. The Concierge was extremely helpful also with local restaurants quality and transportation. I highly recommend this place.

Service, location. Inside room (no problem) but next to a suite whose doors slammed all night. Luxury property. Spectacular property. Serious service. Warm towel offered upon check-in to freshen up, motion-sensors in room so that when you placed feet on floor from bed, a small light under the lamp table illuminated.

My fiancee and I went to New York for a long weekend. We caught a Yankees game, did a bus tour and shopped, a lot. The hotel was amazing. The decor was very nice, wood and leather throughout but I really liked being able to control the lights and the ventilation through the phone control panel. Hotel staff were friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. Great experience in a great hotel.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Essex. The first was before the remodeling they conducted over the last two year. The remodeling has made the room much nicer, roomier and more luxurious for the price one pays. The stay was wonderful and the only negative I would express was the location of the TV was fixed and not able to angle toward the bed. However the new color scheme and the bed comfort were top notch.

Location is fantastic for business travelers. In-room lighting system confusing.

From the miserable confusion at the front desk to the construction to the incompetent staff, when you could even find them, this was an awful choice of a "luxury" hotel. We checked out early and spent the rest of our trip elsewhere and had an absolutely wonderful time without the chaos of this hotel.

Restaurant was great - inviting room fixtures and furniture. Great location to Central Park and convenient to other amenities. Boardwalk at entrance due to maintenance/remodel above.

Close to 5th Avenue shopping, Central Park. Parking is expensive at $55/day, hotel restaurant would not lend me a spoon for previous night's leftovers. Excellent location, and attentive staff.

The staff was professional, the hotel was beautiful. Washroom outdated, and water built up in tub. Overall this was a lovely hotel. It is well maintained, and the staff was very courteous and helpful to us. The only issue we had was with the washroom. It doesn't seem to be as well up graded as other facilities at this hotel. The water built up, and wouldn't recede for a long time. It was a little gross. Other that, loved it, and would recommend it to anyone.
