The location was great - about a 20 minute walk to the central station, 5 minutes to the red light district and right on one of the many tram lines.

The NH Carlton is located close to everything. I liked that the windows opened up. The bathroom was modern and very clean. The bathtub was very long. I could really stretch out. The food in the restaurant was good especially the breakfast buffet. I had a nice view from my room.

The lobby is very nice, and the staff was friendly. Check in was easy. The room was large with a seperate kitchen with a stove, microwave and fridge. Our room had a view of the street in front of the hotel-and there was NO street noise. The bed was good size (I'm over 6') but there was no bedframe. It was a murphy bed that laid on the floor, which made getting in and out like sleeping on a floor futon . We only stayed one night, and the location of the hotel was within walking distance to shops and sites. Breakfast was pretty decent with meats, pastries, cereal and the other typical fair. We'd stay again-but see if other bed options were available.

Took the 25 euro upgrade, room was quite nice by European standards for this category of room. Had a really nice balcony too. Hot water a bit touchy, but no big deal. Front desk not the friendliest, but again, its a different country not Orlando! Was here with wife to goof around and let loose for a few days, so had no real complaints about the room; you don't go to Amsterdam to spend half the day in the room! Would stay here again--location between Leidsplien, RLD, Museums, so was great central location, not too far a walk to anywhere.

Hotel lobby is OK but the rooms seem ridden hard and put away wet.Wretched pillows and lumpy beds. Also look out to be scalded while taking a shower when the water temp sudden is boiling! They offer room upgrade, spend your money on a better hotel up front. Also beware of the travel agency getting you to your hotel at 7 am but no check in until 2pm, instead of telling you upfront and asking if you are willing to pay for an extra day so you don't have to sit a lobby for 5 hours after a 20 some hour flight. Awful after a flight through from CA only to have an uncofortable room.

Hotel Jolly Carlton is in a fantastic location from which to explore Amsterdam, flower market around the corner, shopping streets two minutes walk from the hotel, all the museums, Anne Franks house, canal cruise boats, literally ten to fifteen minutes walk in different directions. Lovely restaurents to be found if you head out from right from the lobby, take a right and straight down the street.

I rated the pricing highly because I paid 40% of the rack rate. The location is brilliant, the hotel quite good but caters for the older/moneyed set so is geared towards those submitting to the pleasures of Amsterdam rather than fitness etc. Online info (TV Menu) is very good

hotel very good, nice and central for seeing all the sights and bars, the only complaint would be with the reception staff, we arrived early in the morning so we left the luggage with the porters and headed into amsterdam, when we arrived back at 5 oclock we were given the room keys the only thing was when we opened the door to our room there was a young couple on the bed, very funny but embarasing, it turns out there name was very simalar to ours and when they checked in they had been given our room, also the day we checked out the staff on reception were new and it took us ages to check out, we tried asking for the duty manager but were fbbed off by giving us a complaint form to fill in, a great shame really a nice hotel ruined by in competent reception staff.

Despite the lovely exterior, our room needed a serious overhaul. The pillows were lumpy, the bed springs poking. Just really SHABBY. Look out for the shower where you can be scalded by an unexpected bursted of boiling water while showering. These charlatains offer room upgrade for 25 and 50 euro. Save yourself the trouble and book a better hotel from the start. Front desk help is rude beyond belief. The only thng that is in the favor of this wretched hotel is the location. If you plan to spend zero time in your room, this is the place for you. Also be aware of the travel website's service center - would you like to fly from California to Amesterdam(20+ hour flight ) only to be told at 7am that you can't check in until 2pm. Suppose the alledged customer service idiot would ask if we wanted to pay for an extra day at the hotel for immediate check in upon arrival, instead of being forced to sit in a hotel lobby for hours!!

We really enjoyed the hotel. The location was perfect--central and accessible to everything, but not in the middle of the party zones. The room was lovely and charming, though some might think it was a bit small. Room cleaning was efficient and professional. I don't think they have a smiling service mentality, so the front desk was not as responsive as I am accustomed to, but that was minor. I only ate in the restaurant once--it was fine, but that doesn't matter because there are places to eat all around.

The hotel is located in an ideal location to access the main areas of Amsterdam such as the shops, canals, red light district and numerous coffee shops. We found the hotel to be well presented, clean and comfortable but expensive. The room was nice with tasteful unsuite bathroom and tv. Noise can be heard from the streets below at night, although this did not effect our stay. We went for a romantic weekend away and would recommend the hotel to other couples, however be prepared to pay an extortionate amount for your stay.

The Jolly is located in a great area, I did not have any issue with noise and the front desk staff was wonderful, very kind and always made a point of making eye contact and saying hello. For the price you simply can't beat the Jolly.

The Hotel is in an ideal location for sightseeing in Amsterdam. The hotel room was immaculate - clean, white towels every day and the bed linen was changed on our second day. The room was quite small but adequate for our 3 day stay. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel but ate at the restaurant once - the food was very good but the head waiter was a bit pompous!! We were also charged an extra 5% tax on our final account even though we had booked with "late-rooms" Would definitely stay here again.

A great hotel to enjoy Amsterdam. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms were quiet and clean. This is the second Jolly hotel I have stayed at, the other being the Jolly St Ermins in London and I am completely happy with both hotels and the chain itself. I wouldnt hesitate to stay with them again and will actually look to jolly as a prefered chain in the future.
