Highly Recommended!I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly, my room was spotless and spacious and continental breakfast in the restaurant was delicious!I have travelled to Melbourne numerous times for business; and this hotel represents excellent value for money. I will definitely be staying at the Jika International from now on.

Basic accomodation with a few faults in the descriptions - Check this will suit you before you book!The Jika is a very “tired and dated” motel. It is clearly aimed at the short stay business traveller on a tight budget. The facilities are very basic and the alleged recent refurbishment has not done much to improve this. The rooms were fairly dirty and my complaint was not acted upon for 2 days (although I understood that they had just changed their cleaning company and were having "teething problems").The bar and restaurant are completely closed at the weekends (except for breakfast) and room service stops at 9pm every evening. The menu when available had a poor selection of meals (as my stay was for 6 days I did plenty of walking to nearest restaurants, these were quite good about 10-15 minutes away in Fairfield – these mainly close around 10:30pm). Beware that at the weekends Jika has a function room that is often hired out to large parties and the noise prevented any sleep well into the early hours for all the other guests.The internet access would only work in the few rooms nearest reception (the additional charges for this were eventually refunded to many guests).I travel using hotels a lot and I feel that there is no way that the Jika should be considered a 4 star establishment – 3 stars may still be too generous!
