Location, amenities such as spa, employees. Provided an invitation to the Marriott vacation club which wasn't really. Remote, good bones, incredible location on 4 man made lagoons, signature restaurant of Azul's.

We stayed for 10 days in middle of Feb 09. Because of some reviews, I was apprehensive. This disappeared as soon as we arrived. Check in was effortless. The room was a beautiful ocean view room, large, great huge lanai (two chairs, two loungers) and many amenities. where the hotel gave us a poor room). The room was very comfortable and quiet. Floor to ceiling windows right across. We watched whales frolick every morning and listend to the waves at night. Restaurants are expensive. So expensive they people will not eat there. Why not drop the price a few bucks. Not an issue since we had a car for touring, most of the time ate away. Kapolei, a 10 minute drive, has some excellent reasonably priced restaurants. The one meal, the Japanese buffet, was good, but somewhat disappointing in quality considering the cost. Yes, parking is expensive. However, many many "resorts" now add resort fees of equivalent cost. So either way "resorts" will get you. Beware the traffic. Avoid morning and evening rush hours. They are horrendous Valets were great. Their advice excellent. Pool is a little small. Many of the loungers need to be cleaned and repaired. Drinks poolside are too expensive - $13 for a pina colada. Please. Good thing we dont drink much. The lagoon and beach is beaufitul and actually has very good snorkeling. Saw turtles as well. Beware the fish feeding and water equipment shop on the beach are fronts for Marriott time share sales. Overall a beautiful place. Would stay again only with a deal, like we got online.

We have been to Hawaii many times, we had visited the resort on a couple of occasions but decided to stay this time. Rooms were beautiful, scenery was beautiful, daily maid service was a little on the poor end, plumbing was not the best. You have no choice but to pay 29 per day to park, no other parking is available. They do not tell you the parking fee they simply add it to your room charge. That is not including tipping the valet so if you plan to get your car out a few times a day plan on spending some dough on tips as well. We stayed in the middle of May, it seemed they had plenty of vacancy but still we had to wait until 4 PM to get in the room. The drinks are weak at the pool bar and expensive 12.50 for a Mai Tai, go to the 3rd lagoon at the Beach Club where the menu is the same but cheaper, the same drinks are 8.50 and have the right portions of ingredients are also owned by the same company only Marriotts version of Time Share. Don't expect any fancy food at the restaurants, nachoes come looking like they came from a gas station quick stop with oozy cheese and all and a kids hot dog comes shriveled up with potatoe chips for only 10. Expect to pay 5 for a bottle of drinking water. Breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children was 77 w/o tip. Only one restaurant serves breakfast. Expect to see the locals "camping" at the lagoons on the weekend, it is still a public beach however, we didn't expect them to crash the pool, security around the pool area was real lax even on the weekend.

First impression-bad! We expected the premeire Marriot Hotel since it was a JW. We walked into a room to find stains on the bed comforter, couch, chairs and carpet. Wall paper is peeling off the wall. The room in large with good views and the bathroom is huge--it has such great potential-it is such a shame. This is a run down hotel that needs a face lift. They did thoroughly clean the room and change out the furniture at our request but that first impression did not fade. The food was overall good but service in the restaurants on site was slow. During one buffet breakfast I had to clear our plates and go find clean silverware as our server ignored us. They did not even attempt to compensate me for this. They would just smile or say a short "sorry" and go about their business. Room service was fast as long as they got your order! Dont bother hanging the breakfast order on the door so it is ready for the morning because they never pick it up! This is a sad excuse for a Marriot and the manager knows it. He sent us a bottle of wine and fruit as apology for the dirty room but it does not solve the problem. We will not stay at this property again unless it is renovated and the service improves. We love the area and will probably just purchase a condo so we can go back to Ko Olina frequently.

The ocean view room was spacious, but not clean, sodas & juices in mini-bar more than 1year past the exipration day. Room service - horrible. Not worth the money you I spent on it. The pool is located right on the ocean, so when you book an ocean view, you will hear kids skreaming untill the dusk. Can't rest at this place.

This hotel was in a nice, quiet location. The staff really made our stay with lots of attention to detail and effort to make us comfortable...they really went above and beyond...like nothing we've ever experienced and we go to the Hawaiian Islands every year. The rooms were very nice with nice views. Free coffee everymorning was nice. Food at the pool was alittle expensive but we didn't care because the people serving us were so sweet and attentive! Go to Roy's restaurant-excellent! This hotel is A+++++++++++++++++++! We can't wait to come back next year for 2 weeks!

The staff was so friendly and courteous. Made us feel like family. The pool is too small for such a resort hotel. The parking fee of 29$ a night is outrageous and ridiculous. We stayed there for the weekend because the baseball team had a tournament. We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel staff provided excellent customer service, always smiling and treated us like family. Asking about our games and cheering the boys on. We especially liked the valet service. Food was pricey as expected but we didn't expect the high parking fees. But overall we all had a great time.

Wife and I stayed here January, 2009. As others said, I expected JW Marriott to be a well run RESORT and Spa. ITS NOT! Although the property looks nice, has wonderful amenities, it is run terribly from the management down. For starters: no coffee/maker in suite, no robes, 2-3 towels, the much vaunted telephone control system didn't work (when we informed the front desk via their form they wanted to keep us on the phone to trouble-shoot (just send someone to fix the thing!) and if you want anything else, better ask (you know extravagant stuff like bath salts). We asked for stamps and got the royal run-a-round from the front desk "we don't have stamps" (this was our entire stay) Parking is $29/day. Food is outrageous $$. A typical breakfast for two is $50, Diner twice as much. Housekeeping and bell staff was great, but desk service and hotel management was terrible. "Late Check Out" = 12:00noon - stay later and you will be charged a fee. Oh, we can't take your late check-out request until the day of,? and then to my dismay, it was in the computer when calling the last day. Marriott Rewards benefits. Oahu is one of the most beautiful places on this planet. Do not waste you money in this property at over $*/night. It does not live up to title ?Resort & Spa? It's a JW Marriott branded money grab. There are too many places to stay for a lot less money, better service and you still get Oahu, Hawaii! BTW. Yes, we did complain to the manager and Marriott Customer Care and the manager?s solution was to think we wanted to be ?compensated? 10,000 Marriott Points! Keep ?em, we won?t be needing them!!!

I stayed at this resort for four days. My sister got married there and paid a lot of money for her wedding, and had a lot of her guests staying in the hotel. The rooms were between *-* a night. Breakfast for room service was * a person, lunch and dinner *. The room service was the only staff I liked. The concierge was the worst person I have ever come across. The woman at the front desk did not know how to deal with people and it took me calling three times for a housekeeper to clean up our room and they did not come until 3pm and had to clean while the groom and groomsmen were getting ready for the wedding. The hotel is beautiful except for the construction going on right next door so the view was good if you were on the garden side but the pool side was a view of cranes. I would stay here with my husband but I would never host an event here or ever deal with anyone but a travel agent and the room service staff. The staff was like what you get at a 2 star hotel, not a 4 star by any means. I am very down to earth and not materialistic so I am usually the easiest to please, but not the staff at the Marriott. Great for couples, bad for events! My sisters wedding turned out beautiful thanks to the army of helpers she employed-not thanks to any hotel staff or wedding planner or hotel photographer from the hotel.

The room and bathroom was large and very clean. The private lagoon was outstanding. The parking fees, expensive restaurants onsite and fees to use the tennis court The hotel has very large rooms. The bathrooms are large with four piece plumbing and updated countertops and flooring. The furniture, carpet and electronics are dated and need to be replaced. The swimming pool and surrounding pool deck is small and not appealing. The onsite restaurants were very expensive. Therefore, they were 90% empty because people went offsite to eat. The parking fees are $30/day. They valet park your vehicle. However, we found that our vehicle was used by the valet staff (without permission) for a total of 39 miles. We reported it to the manager and plan to contact corporate. This is a major trust violation and liability issue.

We have been staying at this hotel with our small young children for 4 years. We loved the hotel, staff, service and grounds. We would stay 2 weeks at a time and would receive excellent service. However, on our most recent trip this year, we have noticed a decline in the quality of service. The staff was not friendly as they had been in the past. We used to get individual attention, however, that seemed to have disappeared. The quality of food was not the same. Also the price to park the car became outrageous. When we would stay for 2 weeks at a time, parking would be almost $500 (with all the parking taxes) to park our rental car. And that didn't include the generous tip that we would need each time we took the car out. After our most recent trip, I wrote a letter to the general manager about my concerns and never got a return response. There are many nice hotels in Hawaii so I think that will be our last time at that hotel.

Great location and amazing view. Ko Olina is the great escape from busy Waikiki. The hotel maybe relatively new but the bathroom is deteriorating. It's hard to access the restroom when you have more 4 people in the room.

Ihilani was beautiful, quiet, and relaxing. We had a very hard time getting over the $30 a day parking for guests. And if you're military, book this hotel through the military MWR travel office. Their rate was much less; didn't find that out until a few days into the trip. Don't eat at any if the Ihilani restaurants, you'll pay half the price if you walk down the beach to the restaurants at Marriott Beach Club and the Condos. Other than the price-gouging on parking and food, the resort was great. 1+ mile beachside path and sidewalks around the Ko Olina Resort were great for jogging and the fitness center had free weights and machines. If you want a coffee pot in your room, you'll have to ask for it. Everything is available at the Ihilani, but you'll have to pay extra for it.

Location, value. Nothing! Very nice secluded location. We did have to drive 30 minutes each way to Honolulu.

The hotel was awesome and provided first class service but was a little far away from things that we wanted to do while in Hawaii. Everything was a little expensive (food, drinks, etc...). If we are able to come back to Hawaii again, we will try to stay somewher else.
Date of Stay:

This resort was outstanding in all respects, the rooms were great. The pool is nice but small, the beach cove is outstanding we saw green sea turtles our very first day there. The service left us wanting for nothing, everyone really and truelly wanted us to enjoy our stay and their demeaner was always so friendly and helpful. Make sure you have a car as the resort is remote and driving is a must. Surfing at the north shore with Sunset Surratt surf school was our highlight look them up on the net or give them a call.
