The Izaak Walton Inn can be found in Essex, bordering Glacier National Park. There are cross-country ski trails and guided back-ski tours for visitors. The Amtrak's Empire Building is en route to the hotel with the only Flagstop at Essex.

Accommodations include 33 lodge rooms, 6 cabins with kitchen & bathroom, and 4 cabooses with propane grills overlooking the tracks. The Izaak Walton Inn also has a restored locomotive, the GN 441, furnished with a king-sized bed, a leather sofa-sleeper, a stone fireplace, 46-inch LCD TV, a jetted tub and a complete kitchen.

The only resort in the area open all year, the family-owned Izaak Walton Inn with its Swiss-style charm has full service dining and a gift shop carrying Great Northern Railroad dinnerware reproductions. It also has an outdoor pavilion, meetings rooms, a bar & lounge and a restaurant serving complete meals with daily specials. Complimentary WIFI access is provided at the bar.

What are your breakfast options?: We offer traditional breakfasts from our menu (eggs, meat, hash browns, huckleberry pancakes, French toast, etc. Breakfast is served from 7:30 am-11:00 am.
What transport is available to get around?: The Amtrak Empire Builder train comes through daily. We also provide car rentals to those with valid driver’s license and proof of insurance for $65 a day or more depending on what kind of vehicle they prefer. There is also a shuttle that takes guests through the park on a tour during the summer months.
What can I do nearby?: We are a cross country ski lodge in the winter with 33 km groomed trails, offering lessons and backcountry tours in Glacier National Park. We see guests coming to visit the park for hiking, fishing, etc in the summer.
Do you have internet?: We do have Wi-Fi; the reception is downstairs in our lounge, not in guest rooms. It is free.
Do you provide parking?: Parking in an open lot right outside the hotel is available and free of charge to guests.
