The hotel was great. It was right at the end of the "main street" hildago and right on the beach. I felt like it was in the heart of everything. The two people that were at the front desk most of the time spoke good English. The wait staff at Comono were great at taking our orders at the pool or beach. Our room was very clean and spacious. There were only a few things that I didn't like. They were doing construction work and there was a lot of jack hammer noise. Also, they put manure on the grass by the pool which made the area reek. Our bed was way to hard for my taste and there were not adequate amt of blankets in the rooms. My husband and I liked it cold in our room but I was frozen under the 2 sheets and thin blanket we had. They probaby would have given me more if I had asked, but I didn't. We will be coming back to The Ixchel for sure in the future.

I cannot say enough about the hotels location for shopping and eating. Then their was the beach. The cleanliness and service, besides the beauty of the sand and ocean. Great place to stay!!

I purchased this hotel with ocean view, for my daughter's honeymoon. Upon arrival, their room location would not pick up Internet which was very important to them.. They moved them to a different room which did not have ocean view. That night they were kept awake by a couple who were yelling loudly and spanking a child. My daughter was so upset. I wrote to the concierge about their situation and asked that they be upgraded to a different room with a king size bed and ocean view. Luz Del Carmen wrote back and assured me that they would, to quote their website "do everything we can to make your vacation nothing less than spectacular". That is just what they did. My daughter and her husband were given an ocean front, one bedroom suite with a king size bed and excellent internet reception. Thanks to the gracious staff @ Ixchel, our daughter's honeymoon WAS spectacular! I have stayed there before and we will definitely stay there again!

This was our first trip to Isla Mujeres, and it was so nice to be on the best beach in the area at a great hotel. The people who work here make the difference-everyone was warm & friendly. Because of the flu scare it was very quiet on the Island-I hope travelers return soon, these people are hurting. When you're here, get out and explore the island, we felt safe and welcome everywhere! Ixchel was the perfect fit for my husband & I who were celebrating 35 years of marriage. We like simple, clean, friendly accomodations in great locations, and this was just what they delivered.

Ixchel is located in Playa Norte (North Beach) and was incredible. May was a slower time, which was perfect for us. Great Service. We had penthouse 705 and the hot tub was a little iffy. We learned that if you want to use them at night tell them about 3 hours in advance, so they can turn the heat on and actually make it hot. The room was great, with everything we needed. Although we weren't in it much. It is right by all the markets, shops, bars and restaurants, but not too close. Definitely a walk away, although getting a golf cart to tour the island is the best way to go.

Rooms are spotless and sleek...all beautiful tile. Bath is large and divided into shower/toilet and sparate mirror/sink. Bedroom had a large king and living room had a futon. Balcony is large and overlooked pool and ocean. We were on the third floor in the newest bldg. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and prompt with any requests we had. Kitchenette very nice.

Super friendly staff. Rooms were very clean and location was awesome a block away from where all the restaurants/bars were. Beachfront amazing..very quiet and family friendly. This island was everything we were looking for: a beautiful beach, quiet yet nice places and bars to go at night NOTHING LIKE the madness in cancun!!!

We started out with a Standard room with no balcony or refrigerator. Very spartan. We ended up upgrading half way through the week to a one bedroom suite with a balcony and a kitchen for an extra $95 USD per night (including taxes). Probably more room than we needed, but a much was much better then the original room we had. I do think that this hotel may be a little over priced. We loved the location right on the North Beach (Playa Norte) and how convenient it was to get to the Downtown restaurants and shops. There was some road construction between the two hotel complex (on Hidalgo) that was noisy and dusty, but other than that, the hotel was nice. We had excellent service with dinner reservations and our room upgrade.

Great overall time. However, the ferry into Cancun can become costly if used every day. The Isle is small and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of Cancun, which proved to be great for relaxing evenings. There are a number of sidewalk cafes to visit as well as a lot of street venders. The on-site hotel resturant closes at 5:00pm. The rental of a golf cart to explore the Isle is well worth the $45.00 for the entire day. Night life is practically none existent on the Isle which would call for a ferry trip into Cancun. The ferry was $7.00 round trip.

Ixchel Beach Hotel is a lovely place to stay. The grounds, rooms, and staff were everything we'd hoped for. This property is actually two properties, separated by a street, that function as one in some ways and independently in other ways (in the West building we were only to use that pool and those specified beach lounges). Nonetheless, every aspect of the property was SPOTLESS at all times, in perfect repair, and was modern with a clean, beautiful design. The staff, from the front desk to housekeeping to bellmen to grounds/repairs, were polite and friendly and accommodating. This definitely enhanced our stay and made us feel welcome. The pool area was LOVELY, with a delicious snack bar and casual dining area, umbrellas, chairs, etc. The beach, once you walked around another palapa, was on probably the nicest swimming part of Playa Norte. The location is great, a short walk from nearly everything in the Pueblo. We took a taxi down to Punta Sur one day, on another we rented a golf cart to explore the island. Other than that, we easily walked everywhere we wanted to go, including the ferry dock with luggage. The wifi never worked for us for more than one 5 minute episode. Fortunately, we did not have to do work on this trip or that would have been a major issues instead of a minor one. I would recommend this property to anyone.

My daughter and I had to return home early during a family emergency, but the staff of Ixchel Beach Hotel helped us return home and find a flight for us. Great staff, nice area, and beautiful hotel.
