I have to say that this was a great hotel considering the circumstances that we had to stay there. The sister hotel down the road closed up on our last full day and night and we were shuffled to The Islander. They were exceptional in getting our room ready and were very courteous considering they had to put up all the people at the other hotel on just a few hours notice. Our room was an oceanview and had a kitchenette. It was a great room....very clean actually. The balcony view was awesome. The pool was very nice even though we never got to get in it. But, we could see it from the 9th floor and it looked pretty cool. I only wished I had known about this hotel before I booked the other one. I would want to come again....no doubt.

Got there, treated poorly (snippy old clerk, said she wouldn't talk to me until 3 p.m. but let the party next to me in at 2!!)Paid for ocean front, got side view even though the place was 3/4 empty, put my family next to 6 underage drinking teenagers who screamed in the halls until 3 a.m., in the morning the clerk ignored my complaints.Place was OK otherwise, security was poor, I watched some street people walk in off the beach and get into the pool, fully clothed and just stand there soaking, then get out and head back down the beach.

The hotel was needless to say, the than to be desired. The location was good, however the room was not impressive to say the least. Aside from the stench that dwelled in the hallway, the carpet appeared to be coming up. Overall it looked like a low class hotel. If for example i was 20 something and there to party for spring break and wanted a room i wasnt worried about messing up then that would be the place i would go. Since i am not in the demographic and have a family it is NOT someplace i would return to for a family vacation. Oh i almost forgot to mention that they charge a 5.00 fee for parking, whats up with that??

Hair on walls in bathroom. Expensive parking. Rooms and whole hotel needed renovating. Many cracks in balconies and had 2/4 lumber supporting one side entrance to hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pool was not heated. Only thing we had from the continental breakfast on first stay was OJ and it was VERY watered down.

The hotel was very dated. It seemed the hotel could use a lot of work. The hotel was not very clean either. My mohter-in-laws room was dirty when she checked in. Unbelievably there were actually muddy footprints on the tile leading into the bathroom. The carpet was not secured to the floor properly. Which could cause a person to trip and fall. My daughter stepped on a rusty nail protruding from the carpet runner in the doorway leading out to the balcony. The water during a shower would fluctuate with no notice from scalding hot to freezing cold. There was a fire on the 1st floor during our stay. We were not awakened by the hotel alarm, instead we received a call from my mother-in-law on the 9th floor. She called our cell phone from her cell phone.

The place was OK. Rooms and hallways could have been cleaner. The pool was great. Great access to ocean. Close to everything

Very helpful staff. Dirty, worn down, ugly and uncomfortable. The staff was incredibly friendly. The room had mold in every corner. Several cockroaches were found during my 8 day stay. The room had suffered obvious water damage that had never been properly fixed and the smell was tough to deal with. The breakfast hours were shorter than any other hotel I’ve stayed at and clearly expired drinks and food were available. The kitchen area was lined with rust on every appliance. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

we arrived at 2:45 pm and waited in line for 30 minutes in the hot lobby while customers streamed in behind us. two elevators working the first day, down to one the next. we were on the 10th floor so we couldn't take the stairway. the hallways were always hot, pool was nice, bubbles in the hot tub? breakfast was ok. beach access was great. the beach was nice. Area was very nice but for what we paid for one night, we won't be staying at the islander anymore.

The personat the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Filthy and worn out. Had to pay $5.00 per night to park in hotel parking. This hotel is in desperate need of a renovation. The room was not clean and the hallways smelled awful. Had to pay $5.00 per night to park in the hotel outside parking lot. I will not visit this hotel again.

The hotel is a little run down in some areas, but overall was clean and a good value for the money. I just needed a decent place to stay at the beach with two "tween" girls and this was perfect. Great beach location, not too much traffic. Pool area was nice and tiki bar was reasonably priced. Free continental breakfast was decent & handy with kids. Only bad experience was being charged "additional fees" when I checked in for PARKING (5 a day) and safe rental. This is not a usual custom at other small beachside hotels in Daytona (I go there often) and added to the "Low Price" I was anticipating for the room. Will know to figure this in my budget next time when comparing rates. I would stay there again.

The staff was very friendly, great location, right on the beach. The elevators vould use some carpet cleaning, smelled of mildew probably from the constant wetness from the pool. The pool was awesome, large enough to accomodate the crowd. The poolside tiki bar was a nice touch as well! Other than some smelling carpets and some necessary updating, not a bad hotel for the money!

The location was great the veiw was what made it, and being able to drive to other places near by was a plus. We were not to impressed with the free breakfast, some things were not fresh enough. We had plenty of room and the kitchen was great. As we said the free breakfast was disappointing but other than that we had no complaints. The pool was wonderful and great beach access. We had a wonderful time. Thank you!

The outdoor pool was heated, Awesome hot tub. (Biggest one I've seen. ) Effeciency included dishes and pots, full fridge with freezer, countertop stove, toaster and microwave. The view was spectacular. South east corner allowed for full sun most of the day. Close to shopping and great night life. We loved the resturant on the pier called Crabby's. It was a nice walk on the beach to get there. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will definately go again.

THE HOTEL IS IN A GREAT LOCATION BUT THAT IS ABOUT ALL IT HAS GOING FOR IT. NOT A BAD RATE FOR A ROOM WITH A KITCHEN. tHE DRYWALL ON THE CEILINGS IS CRACKED BY DOORWAYS AND WHILE I WAS THERE 2 ROM,S ON THE 4TH FLOOR FLOODED DUE TO AN AIR CONDITIONING PROBLEM. ALSO OUR PATIO WAS COVERED IN MOSQUITOS. tHE MAINTANENCE GUY HAD TO COME AND SPRAY THE WHOLE PORCH WITH OFF AND COME BACK WITH A VACCUUM TO COLLECT THE DEAD MOSQUITOS.

Only the convenience to the beach. I never felt our room was clean. I would never consider staying here again.

I don't know what to say. I spent a few days here and the room was very low maintenance. I mean the sink was clogged, the tub is very dirty with mildew, carpet filthy, roaches(in the 5 floor that's pretty bad),lock not closing properly, hallways floor stained and smelly, rooms also smell dirty, the door to the bathroom is so tight that you need to get in the tub to close it.the AC is very dirty,we didn't go in the pool because we don't know if they do any maintenance on it. The view was the only thing worth in this place. Breakfast was good but now that we think about they might have roaches in the kitchen also. I'm a diabetic and when I made the reservation it says it did have a refrigerator in the rooms then when we asked for one for my needs of insulin they told me they don't have them available. I have never been in a hotel that charges to park. We had to pay 5.00 a day to park in the property and we live in Miami.

It's on the beach and has a nice outdoor pool. The facility is badly in need of repair and remodeling. The beds were terible and the building is in need of repair, the door jams are so rotten it's hard to open and close the door. House keeping was adaquate. No internet in room, only wireless in lobby. Staff was very good and helpful. Great beach right out the door. We probably would not stay there again.
