Staying at the Iron Horse was the biggest mistake of our vacation. When we checked into the room we opened the door to being greeted by an overwhelming smell of stall air. The air conditioning did not work there was holes in the bathroom doors and the carpet was ripped. The second room they moved us to was N/S room but when the door was opened we where hit with the overwhelming smell of cigar smoke and tables with burn marks. At least this room the air conditioning worked, but the showers had no curtains. After speaking with manager, who did no show up till after 9am the following morning he stated that he could not smell anything but would take off $10 for the shower curtains missing. Their web sight states just remodel rooms, if so their definition of just is way off. not only were the rooms old and smelly but the parking lot area was unkept and had holes in the pavement. For the price of the rooms this hotel is a rip off.

The Swimming pool was large and the children really enjoyed taking advantage of it.

first off we arrived at the front desk and instead of them saying hello mam, it was 'Wassup?'. Teenager at the front desk with a huge hickey on her neck. then we got to our room.....4 burned out lightbulbs and the starirs were old and creeky, I felt like I was going to go thru them. The shower is old....the shower.....well I am 5 ft 8 in and I had to bend over to wash my hair. I would have taken a bath but the tub was old and dirty. When I got out the outlets are so old my plug for my hAIRDRYER FELL OUT OF THE SOCKET! The upstairs loft is hot! We had to open the windows and that was loud,,bunch of drunks hanging around. The continental breakfast was ok. they just have cereal, oatmeal bagels, and muffins. We went to the pool and at first when I saw the pics I was excited.....but that excitement went away after actually seeing the pool up close and personal. Cold and no towels poolside. The pool was crumbling away as I swam in it. icky! Hot tub looked like hot chocolATE...GROSS! THE T.V REmote only had 2 working buttons. carpet was dirty! If you have small children dont stay here! oh,, then our shower upstairs started leaking and got all my clothes wet! yeah, never staying there again. the only cool thing about this hotel was the train that goes by there.........thats it!

Have stayed at Iron Horse before and wouldn't mind staying again. This is not a luxury hotel by far, but clean and comfortable, much more affordable than staying at the mountain resorts.

Fortunately I happened to have a quilt in my car, so I wrapped up in it instead of sleeping on the grungy sheets. The hotel was located on the outskirts of town away from everything. This was obviously a very convenient location for truck drivers because several trucks were parked beside the hotel. The room had such a strong smoke smell that I had trouble breathing. I would recommend that you stay as far from this hotel as you can get because it is a dump! It was so awful that I decided not to stay in Durango.

This hotel has a lot of potential for families, but needs some serious updating. All the plumbing leaked and the carpet was filthy! The bill was also confusing.

The Iron horse inn was very nice and has lots of charter, great views of mountains and the train will pass by with visitors waveing hello. Its location is not far from downtown, where all the restaurants are.

The Iron Horse cancelled one reservation and changed another reservation (room type and rate) despite our written confirmation; when we complained they cancelled all of our reservations saying they reserved the right to refuse service to anyone. (They were overbooked and were looking for reasons to turn people away).

The Iron Horse Inn in Durango, CO is a good deal for the dollar.

The room was very small for the price even though there was an upstairs room with a bed. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. The hotel is very old and looks and smells like it. The lighting was very poor, the TV small, the bathroom needs to be updated, and the overall cleanliness was horrible. The only plus I can think of is that the location is not too far from downtown Durango and it is also on the outskirts of town which made a quick get-a-way.

The Iron Horse Inn may not be newly built, but it's excellent for the price. The room had a second floor separating the 2 beds (for those who need a little privacy from your other roommates). There isn't much as far as amenities goes, but people who complain about hotels without pools and Jacuzzis are traveling for the wrong reasons. A hotel should be the place you put your stuff in and sleep, not where you spend most of your time. Lackluster breakfast, second floor musty. The room was spacious and it felt like being in a small home. You get what you pay for and in this case, it's a good deal.
