food in hotel was very poor one night when we ordered lab[mb chops, the cops were still frozen in the inside. The taste was horrible.The next day the food was better.

The Rio de Janeiro InterContinental is a nice upscale hotel. It's in a pretty good neighboorhood, but if you're interested in being near Copacabana or Ipanema Beaches, stay somewhere closer. This place was an expensive cab ride from the beaches, and far away from the center part of the city. The bathrooms have granite tubs. The rooms have nice views of the city and the beaches. It is very close to one of the largest favelas (slums) in Rio, so it isn't an area where you would want to walk far from the hotel. The staff were great, and the services were outstanding. The food in the restaurants was below par for an InterContinental Hotel, but there was a really nice restaurant in the shopping area right behind the hotel.
