The hotel was very nice. We had so much fun being able to walk to everything! The location is awesome! The rooms are a little small but for the price you couldn't ask for a better place to stay! Plus Starbucks was in the building so you really didn't have to leave if you didn't want to.

The InterContinetal was an overall great experience. I would stay there again. The location was perfect for visiting Chicago.

This hotel was located right in the heart of Michigan Ave and had great views. Our room was more than we expected too. I would recommend this beautiful hotel.

The location at 505 N. Michigan was prime for heading out and walking in either direction. I was disappointed in the room - the windows were dirty, a light was out in the bathroom, no bathroom exhaust fan, bathroom was not spotless. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and nice. However, the hallways and general areas were HOT - like there was no a/c. The biggest disappointment is that the website says there is a sun deck off the pool. I even called to confirm my res and request early check-in and asked abou the sun deck. When we got there we asked 2 members of the staff where the sun deck was and they both looked at us like we were nuts - because there is NO sun deck. I told the concierge they need to take it off the website - its was ONE of the main reasons we selected this property. I WOULD stay here again solely because of the location!

When we checked in we were told that we did not have a room with two beds which is what we reserved. We were told that since we booked with a third party (orbitz) that our room type was not guaranteed. I asked if there was any way for an upgrade to compensate for our troubles and she still said that she didnt have any rooms in the entire hotel with two beds. We were offered an upgraded suite with a king bed and that we would be moved the next day to a room with two beds. I called the front desk the next day and they transfered be directly to the manager. The manager then tells me that they are completely booked and they only have a standard (smaller was the words he used) room with two beds. Again I asked him if there was any compensation for all of the troubles that we have had here with the room situtation. He gave us two complimentary breakfast buffet tickets. But still only had a room with one bed. There were good people that helped us get around the city using the public transportation system at the hotel. All in all it was a good trip but wasnt ok with them saying that my reservation that was made 5 months in advance was not guaranteed because it was booked through a thrid party. That makes me not want to use those websites any longer.

Location. Valet parking attendants damaged my rental car. Great location, clean modern rooms, friendly front desk staff. I don't typically use hotel restaurants and other amenities, so I can't rate them.

Not a bad hotel. It's supposed to be the flagship for Holiday Inns. Superrior concierge services, but small rooms and very expensive restaurants. Great for a romantic getaway, but not for a vacationeer. Outstanding cleaning services twice daily.

If you want to be in the middle of it all, this is the hotel for you!? The location is excellent and it is close to all of the attractions/museums/shopping/dining,? either by walking or catching the bus which runs directly in front of the hotel.? The staff was nice, very helpful and the appearance of the hotel was great.? The rooms were small but nicely decorated.? The only major drawbacks for me were that A:? The bathroom was nice but the wallpaper was peeling and puckered where it was obvious some repair work had been done.? This issue just made the room feel like a motel to me., B:? The location of the room? we stayed in did not allow for any natural light, so it was dark all the time and we had to use the lights during the day, C:? The air conditioning was either too warm or too cold.? However do not let these issues deter you from staying here.? It is a top notch hotel, management just needs to pay more attention to the small details!!!? Overall this hotel is a keeper and should not be missed if you are in town to explore all that Chicago has to offer.

The concierge did not have a supply of simple first aid elements, such as band-aids which other hotels of this level have.

Service personnel were great, bed most comfortableI have had traveling. Sunday morning breakfast buffet was mediocre, eggs underdone, food only warm, not even close to hot. Would definitely stay at this hotel again, great service personnel at the door, check in and in the bar, room was very nice and bed extremely comfortable, rarely doI sleep through the night traveling as here.

I stayed three nights in early April and was placed in a standard room with two beds, despite my reqeust for one, and more space. The hotel clerk did not seem interested in accomodating me. Room service was quick, but the food was overpriced and of poor quality- I paid $8.50 (plus delivery and tax, etc.= $15+) for a "Ceasar salad" consisting of a half-filled bowl of brown lettuce and bottled dressing (no anchovies, paramsan, etc.), and of a portion only my pet rabbit might enjoy. I could have opted for the Chicago-style hot-dog for $17+ but decided against it...Anyway, the furniture was stained, the seat of the desk chair was torn, and the faucet in the undersized-tub dripped all night. The staff was generally polite and pleasant, but insisted on waking me up during naptime to tell them emphatically and clearly - and as loud as possible so they could absolutely understand - whether I wanted them to come back or would call for service... A polite "I'm still sleeping" didn't do the trick. This was followed a few minutes later by the minibar supplier with the same language problems. This experience was a huge disappointment for a hotel rated so highly.

It was a busy holiday weekend so when we had to wait through the check-in line twice, it wasn't a big surprise. We were there over an hour after check-in though. When the unfriendly eastern European girl finally found us a room (2 hours later), she somehow neglected to give the bell desk our luggage tags like she said she would. We called after an hour and they were quick to bring our bags. Next day someone neglected to leave hand towels and washcloths. Business center requires pay for any use whatsoever. In my travels, that generally happens at the cheaper places. In the end, this was somewhat typical of what I have experienced at other Intercontinentals. I will avoid them in the future. There are plenty of better options in the 200-400 range. Very mediocre in my opinion. Location is great though!

The service was fabulous. Since I can't post names, one female concierge was particularly wonderful. It seemed she knew everything about all different parts of the city. The pool/fitness facilities/locker room were great. The rooms weren't what I would call 'luxury' but I slept well - I guess that's what matters. I bought a package with airfare from Travelocity and was wary about what room we would get, but we were on the 14th floor of the new building overlooking Michigan Ave. A perfect view.

I stayed at this hotel during the "Taste of Chicago." The location was great. It was a short walk to Grant Park and the "Taste". It was also a short walk to many others sites of interest in the downtown area. The pool area was quite beautiful and you should visit it to check out the unique architecture, even if you do not plan on swimming. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. I would stay here again and would highly recommend it to anybody.

We spent 4 days in Chicago, it was the first time and we enjoyed the town a lot. The location is great for shopping, restaurant and nightlife.

Good location and excellent wine bar. Small rooms. Lovely lobby area. Staff was helpful, although they didn't offer up any extra information about restaurants, places to visit etc. It was pretty much up to us to figure out busing, cabs, train service and then ask. Or room was clean and it was quiet. However, it was small and they crammed this uncomfortable couch in the room. This left about a foot and a half of walking room around the bed and dressers.

They were horriblly rude! They added items to my bill and during checkout they treated us like we were lying about it. When they reviewed the cameras and saw that they made the mistake we werent even offered an apology. I almost missed my plane and I missed the shuttle dealing with it and they were so rude and obnoxious about it. Plus dont even think about room service as they overcharge you like no other hotel I've ever been. A regular omelette with only cheese was $37.50-yes, $37.50. Plus, the amenities aren't even free. You have to pay for the internet. You have to pay for the gym and the pool. You have to pay for every little thing; so, if your going there get ready to PAY. I would never go back there ever!
