Excellent value three star hotel, brand new room with a great bathroom (and industrial strength shower), very close to central station and about 10-15 mins walk to central Bologna. Excellent value!

Recommended! Clean, warm (I stayed 2 nights in December), a short walk from the railway station. Low season price very good. Breakfast for 5 Euros was ok, yoghurt, juices, different coffees/teas, etc., good value. Quiet neighboorhood, and there is a restaurant next door.

Decent, Moderate-Price Hotel in BolognaThe Hotel "Il Guercino" is a decent place to stay not far from the main train station, though a bit of a walk from the city center. (If you don't want to walk to the center, you can take a bus.) I decided to stay here because I knew the area from a previous visit. I came from elsewhere in the region and needed to overnight in Bologna close to the station since I had a flight from Bologna airport the next morning. (The airport bus leaves from the station.) The hotel has a nice reception area and hallways, the man at the reception desk was friendly, professional, and spoke English. My room was pretty small but that's normal in Europe, especially for a single. The main problem was that It was hot, stuffy and musty when I first walked in. So I had to open the window to air the room and cool it down a little - I was a bit concerned since I was on the ground floor, but I guess it was safe. I found out that the blower-type heating/AC unit above the main door only worked as a heater. (It was early March and quite cool outside, but still I would have liked to switch on AC for a while.) The last time I was in Bologna, three years ago, I stayed in the same area and had a room with the same problem. It was nice to see a personalized welcome message on the modern flat-monitor digital TV when I walked in, like at a much more expensive hotel, but the TV didn't work properly - I couldn't get any channels. The only other complaint I have is that the lamp next to my bed had a tacky, non-removable red plastic lampshade and made me feel like I'm at a bordello when it was switched on! On the plus side, the bathroom was excellent, and there was an electric tea kettle along with a choice of teas and a proper cup and saucer plus teaspoon.Incidentally, the view outside my room was not inspiring: a large empty lot covered with debris, but I just needed a place for the night, so it didn't matter much. Il Guercino Hotel Bologna is very nice hotel behind the Railway station. It has very spacious rooms, very clean and comfortable. It is little bit walking distance from hotel to the city center. Next time we are in Bologna definately going to stay in Il Guercino Hotel Bologna.

Extremely helpful and friendly staff, great room and very advisable to pay the 5 euro charge extra for breakfast as great selection and quality of food.WOuld definately recommend this hotel to anyone considering it.

This was a neat little hotel and close to the station although on the oppostie side of the raiway line to the main part of the city.I couple of minro concerns were fixed immediately. We arrived on a Sunday and a lot of restaurants etc were closed but the hotel was able to direct us to a lovely little place just a couple of minutes away. The price was certainly right!

This hotel is very close to the railway station but is ticked away so is nice and quiet. A really cute place with very friendly and helpful staff. I it of a walk from the main area but there is a bus that goes straight there if you are tired after a day of shopping.

Stayed there more than once. Some rooms cosy and elegant, never really large, some other, expecially single rooms, very small. Extremely convenient for closeness to station/air terminal, walking distance from main square/centre town.

Do not go to the Il Guernico with a car! They have parking facilities but charge €16.00 per day to use them. This makes a considerable difference to the cost.
