Basic, quiet, spacious, great service Nice, quiet, basic hotel. Spacious room at the back of the building. We could only book a double on the Laterooms site, although we prefer a twin. We rang the hotel and were offered a smoking room (we don't smoke, and didn't realise they still existed in the UK). When we arrived, Lisa at the desk found us a quiet non-smoking twin - excellent service and very friendly. Comfortable beds, 5 minutes from York centre, would definitely stay again.You get what you pay for (cheap), but it's a very good cheap. Sainsburys ministore just across the road, so we had DIY food.No hairdryer in the bedroom (bring your own), and no iron, but ironing room on the second floor.

My stay at the Ibis York was exceptional value. The staff were super friendly. The location is a short walk from downtown and overall was a great experience, would definitely stay again.

great hotel position, rooms in need of updatingthe hotel is ideally positioned for walking into york centre, free parking is a bonus. we initally were given two rooms not next to each other as requested, but when i complained that i was unable to open the window, we were moved to different rooms which where next to each other, so why couldnt this have been done pre-arrival? i thought the hotel carpets needed replacing , they were old fashioned and really stained, the beds were very squeaky and generally the rooms were dated, the bathrooms were nice though. the food was alright. the stafff were friendly and helpfull.

Given the wrong room on arrival as a result of some confusion over my name? Was told that my reservation was for a James Stubbs and was a mistake when entered on the system? Found out that this was incorrect when checking out and indeed there was a James Stubbs staying at the same hotel! Simple error on the receptionists part! Gave a score of 3 as the guy checking me out was excellent! Room very small(328), Shower was useless, hotel in an excellent location for the town centre and the staff seemed pleasant enough!

Horrific air conditioning problems! Window brokenWe got back to our room 206 late on 15th July 2009. Room itself was OK and bathroom not bad for what we paid. However it was a very warm night and the air conditioning didn't work and the window would not stay open! In any case the noise from the busy road was very bad. My husband is recovering from a serious illness and he slept the entire night whilst I tossed and turned and could hardly sleep and could do nothing as I didn/t want to disturb him. On checking out I was promised an email or call about it when they had investigated the room. I have had no communication and have just now phoned 4 days later

Noise!Good location, but very busy noisy road Hotel situated on!Rooms are poor in soundproof!Rooms are basic but very cleanPaid £49 on internet was told I was saving £50!Tarrif in Hotel said rooms were £55 so I did not save £50 as I was lead to think!

Stayed in a few IBIS hotels. Does what it says on the tin! No complaints. Stayed for on race weekend and got a great dea (lower than normal race weekend rate I think)

Perfect Hotel for York RacesWe stayed at this hotel for a hen weekend and the hotel is in an ideal place with easy access into York centre and also the racecourse. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Nice bar/restaurant area, rooms basic but for the price we payed and the amount of time we were actually in the room you can't complain.

Great location, top valueStaff were very helpful, especially with finding cots for our young children. Only a few minutes walk from the walled city. Room was spacious, clean and quiet. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent hotel for the price!This was a very last minute booking (3 hrs before we arrived!), and we picked it because of the price - we were not disappointed! Very close to the station, staff were friendly, room and bathroom were clean and spacious, bed was comfortable, plus the late checkout (12pm) and free luggage storage made this a great choice! Would definitely recommend it as me and my boyfriend loved it.

Good value hotel very close to centre of YorkFor the money the hotel was very good value in a good location close to York centre with free car parking to rear. Nice modern bathroom with shower. Rooms good with remote control TV and tea/coffee. Comfortable bed and clean. Rooms not huge but spacious enough for the money paid and the star rating. We didn't have any food at the hotel or drinks in the bar so can't comment on these. Another very good thing about the Ibis Hotel is that when the majority of the other Hotels and Guest Houses in York are very greedy on a weekend and won't let you stay for only one night - they insist on two, the Ibis came up trumps and lets you stay for one night only. This is the main reason we booked the Ibis as we only required Saturday night and otherwise we would not have stayed in York. I will definately be going back to this hotel again when I vist York.

Excellent bar/receptionThis hotel has recently been refurbished and it's clear to see where the money has not been spent once you get past the bar and reception. First impressions are pretty impressive for a 2 star hotel. Stairs, corridors and rooms are still very basic, old fashioned and in need of updating. Lots of traffic noise came with a front facing room. Extremely small sign outside the hotel which we drove past four times before finding and that was only after we bought a map. Staff were very friendly, especially the security guard on night patrol.

Ibis Hotel York Pleasant clean accomodation. Staff friendly. Having booked out we went for a walk in York and got caught in thunder storm. Both of us were completly soaked. We returned to the hotel and they had towels waiting for us in reception and gave a room to change into dry clothes. We would recommend this establishment to our friends.

Scottish Money does not equal British Pounds?I attempted to change a 50 pound Scottish note at the hotel desk. The manager refused, saying \"She would have to go to the bank...\" Instead, I went next door to the McDonalds, a multi-national global corporation that happily accepted my note in payment for a cup of coffee.
