I stayed on business for one night with a work colleague as we had meetings the next morning in Galway. Due to the Galway races this was the nearest hotel available.The Hotel is a little bit dated and Internet access would have been useful. I would not recommend the hotel if you’re staying over for business, very expensive for basic B&B.The people at the hotel and the surrounding area are very hospitable and friendly. We ate at the hotel bar, I would highly recommend the Cod but my colleagues Thia Green curry was red and not the best.Ballyvaughan is picturesque little sleepy village with a limited amount of pubs and shops. There were plenty of people sampling the Guinness and on Wednesday, and on Thursday nights they have traditional live Irish music. This is a big attraction and the small bars do get very busy but well worth staying for at least a drink or two.If you want to get away from the day to day hustle and bustle, you can’t go far wrong with Ballyvaughan.If you do decide to go to Ballyvaughan, be prepared for a long cross country drive to get there, with some lovely picturesque views on the way.
