The bathroom had hair all over in it, stains on the carpet, and had to beg for towels none at the pool several times.

Great hotel for people with young kids. Service was excellent. Not close to many places for adults such as downtown or other beaches and expect to pay over $50 roundtrip cabfare. No shuttle service.

The staff was absolutely the most helpful hotel staff I have ever encountered. Everyone was extremely helpful, from the valet to the manager. The only thing that I didn't really like is that the Hyatt charged for parking. $20.00 a night, that's a little steep. The hotel was in a very nice area. The room was immaculate and very spacious. I totally loved the staff. Even printed out map quest directions for one of our restaurant trips. The person who I believed was the manager showed us the different places of interest on a map that were close to the hotel and provided discounted tickets for some of our excursions.

We spent 3 nights here for spring break, mid week. It was perfect for us--one parent, one grandparent, and one 7 year old boy. We had an ocean view room in the tower with 2 queen beds. The beds were very good--I have a bad back, yet didn't wake up stiff. The easy chair in the room was so comfortable I wanted to take it home with me, and my son fell asleep in it every night. Over all, the room was a little cramped, and I missed having a table and chairs instead of a desk. Very clean, great water pressure and loads of hot water in the shower. The pool slide was a hit with the kid--from the reviews I didn't realize it was such a long twisty slide. Lifeguard on duty at the top of the slide to regulate kid (and grownup) traffic. The slide pool was only 4 or so feet deep. Grandma and I could lounge poolside with a cocktail and book while kiddo hit the slide for an hour or two. (The slide closes at 4pm, so we used this as bait to leave Sea World by 2pm) The hotel is really close to Sea World, the concierge has discount tix. I suggest taking a taxi, as the flat rate fare is $6, but it is $12 to park if you drive, and you may end up in an overflow parking lot that is practically back at the hotel! I can see how the pool would be too crowded during high season. Our final day saw an increase of visitors at the pool, and even though not every lounge chair was taken it did feel cramped. LOTS OF KIDS, not a "romantic" getaway. Limited food options,but what we ate was great.

My children and grandchildren had a great vaction stay. Our window had a nice view of Mission Bay and we we opened the windows we had nice cool breeze. We went to celbrate our daughter's birthday at Sea World so our location was perfect. The kids enjoyed the pool. the only problem was that there were not enough lounges and some guests hogged them even thought ehy were not in the pool area the entire day. The food service in the pool area was fair not enough waiters. My husband did not like the fact that there was no complimentary coffee in the rooms. Over all it was a nice place to stay as a family.

Great propery- but pricey food! Restaurants are very good but extremely high priced. A good place to take kids (they seem to cater to them) and it is absolutely beautiful, but So. Cal is not the place to go on a strict budget. Will go again.

I thought this hotel was great. The staff was very friendly, most of the rooms had spectacular bay and ocean views. The pool area was fun! It was a short walk to the beach and a short drive to many of the cool beach towns.

Renovations are great, family friendly and clean. In-room refrigerator didn't work; they switched rooms for us. We stayed there two nights. We were originally placed in the older section, but the refrigerator and TV remote didn't work. They moved us to the Tower, which was a vast improvement. We overlooked the pools, and even enjoyed the water slides. The workout room was right on the water, and fully equipped. The Einstein Brothers location was on-site and convenient for breakfast.

I surprised my husband with a 30th birthday trip to San Diego in mid January 2009. I booked this hotel because we got a great deal and it looked beautiful. After reading some reviews, I was quite worried, but it turns out I had nothing to be worried about! They checked us in two hours early and upgraded us from an Ocean View King to a Ocean View King Corner Suite for FREE! I just requested that we be as high up as possible, and the girl at the desk gave us that room. When we walked into our room, we were thrilled. We were on the 11th floor of the tower and the 180 degree view was gorgeous! The room had two flat screen TVs, a living area, a comfy bed, an awesome stand up shower with glass doors, and everything else we could've possibly wanted! I don't know about the other parts of the hotel, but if you stay in the tower, you can't go wrong. The location is excellent as Mission Bay is very central in the San Diego area. I would stay there over and over again and have already recommended it to many people.

IWe have stayed in several hotels around the same area close to Sea World. This valuewas grand opening rate, but still very nice facility and everything is upgraded tasteflly. There is a fast check in/out machine so it is very quick, but the staff is there to help. We wish we spend more time to enjoy the pool. we will definately stay there next time.

Somehow we were upgraded to a Regency suite on the concierge level! Wow!!! What an incredible experience!!!! Also great fire pit for toasting marshmellows and making s'mores.

Our stay at the San Diego Hyatt - Mission Bay was Awesome! We stayed for four nights. The hotel staff was great, the rooms were very clean, the pools and hot tub were also very clean. Great place for families, the kids will enjoy the water slides. The drinks and parking was a little expensive $25 per day for parking. The on site restaurant (Red Marlin) food was horrible. It was the most expensive bad food I ever had, but the hotel it self was excellent!

I wish I had more than a 300 word review limit. But consider yourself warned. The all day hose-down-the-hall carpet cleaning over the entire run of our stay must have missed our room. There were so many stains on our carpet that, from above, it looked like a global map. And the floor was so dirty that we had to wear our shoes until we climbed into bed. Two room, two televisions, one remote - due to the "remote shortage". It must be a local problem. I could lend them a couple of mine. Three times at the pool, twice "no towels available" Towel shortage as well? "Life" guard picking his toes as guests break up a fight in the pool. No joke. Fire exits blocked off - for three days - due to apparently slow drying "wet paint" Never again.

We thought that the hotel was great. The convenience of it was wonderful, too. We could walk to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The pool was beautiful and so was the scenery (behind the hotel) on the water.

The staff was very friendly and the rooms had great harbor views! The Red Marlin Restaurant seemed overpriced and the food wasn't very tasty. We had a great room with an awesome view of the harbor and sea world. We could watch the fireworks from our balcony, in the morning could see and hear the seals playing in the harbor. The employees all seemed very friendly and helpful. I just wouldn't recommend the Red Marlin on site restaurant. We had dinner and breakfast there and the dinner wasn't worth the price. The breakfast we ended up getting free due to problems with service and maintenance applying a smelly finish to a wood bench behind us. Overall I would highly recommend the Hyatt. We had a small child, and he loved the pools.

My stay at the San Diego Hyatt - Mission Bay was simply fabulous! We just stayed for one night but that was enough to make a great impression. Everything was simply wonderful! The hotel staff were extremely welcoming and very friendly. Hotel grounds were tropical, clean and beautiful. We booked the Ocean View room....fabulous view. I am not a "beach" person but the views were breathtaking. Whether you are staying with friends or on a romatic weekend getaway, this hotel is great. I am one to inspect rooms as soon as I arrive and I found everything to be a 10. Beds, very comfy and huge. We used the express check out with no problems, quick and easy. We usually stay at Hyatt hotel locations and will continue to chose Hyatt over other hotels in the area. I am very pleased and will definitely come back and stay at the San Diego Hyatt.

The hotel was a hugh disappointment and not up to Hyatt standards. The room was not very clean, very dusty, large stains on the carpet. Always had to ask for more towels & washcloths. Did not have a coffee service in the room as advertised. Balcony was very dirty, could not even sit on the chairs. The pool area was the biggest disappointment, standing room only by 7:00am, people were complaining all day due to lack of loungers. Both restaurants on site were less than satisfactory, Red Marlin did not have air conditioning. The Swim was dirty and service was poor. NO VENDING ON SITE! If you are thirsty or wanting a snack, forget it! I was told to go to the gift shop if I wanted to purchase water or a snack, unfortunately, the gift shop was closed. The last night we returned from an outing only to find the shower next door backed up into our room and flooded the entire entry and part of the living area. It took over an hour for maintenance to respond. I am a gold passport member and this was the first time I experienced sub-standard service from a Hyatt hotel.

We went to this hotel for our honeymoon and were more than pleased with the great views of the marina, cozy rooms, attractive hotel, and helpful staff for the price that we paid. The staff were incredibly helpful while answering our questions and even sent us a free bottle of champagne and truffles to our room that was on the house in honor of our honeymoon. There were two things we didn't like though. One, the food and drinks at the two restaurants were pretty expensive. Alcoholic drinks were all $12 and were pretty skimpy in size. At the Red Marlin, the meals were generally over $30. If we would had known the drinks were that expensive, we probably would have picked another place to stay where we could have plenty of drinks at our hotel/at the pool for a lower price. Two, the location wasn't completely ideal. It's right in the marina, which is great if you want to rent bikes/boats/jet skis, but it was a good drive away from any beaches, shopping, or other attractions. Sea World was only a 15 minute walk away which was great, but it cost $25-30 for a taxi to get to the Zoo, downtown, or to a beach. If you plan to stay here, we would recommend buying a day pass on the bus, which is only $5 to keep the costs down. Overall though, wonderful place!

The location was perfect. Party time on Saturday night! Unfortunately, there was a wedding at the hotel on Saturday night. The guests were very loud and we were forced to call the front desk three times starting at 1am. It tookthree calls before security was able to break up the party and get the guests to go inside their own rooms. They were sitting right outside our room on the deck. We heard security blame us by telling them that the neighbors were complaining. This was at 4 AM! Is that the best they could do?
