Date of Stay:
July, 2009
We stayed here for the 4th of July Holiday, so the hotel was fully booked. The staff was not great. The water glasses that were provided in the room were filthy. The room had an overwhelming smell of cinnamon, like Big Red chewing gum.

The location was ideal. Several restaurants were in walking distance.

I reported several problems that arose from our stay at the Jacksonville Hyatt and was directed to send an email outlining the issues: We arrived at the hotel to find that the published weekend rate for this facility was cheaper than the rate we were charged by online travel website. We booked the hotel based on the availability of a heated pool and whirlpool. After checkin, we visited the pool area to discover that the pool heater was broken and the whirlpool heater and jets were also broken. I called the front desk to report this and asked for assistance. None was offered, nor was any explanation given regarding when the facilities would be repaired and ready to use. We were not advised upon arrival that the pool and whirlpool were broken. Our room was stripped of all toiletries, coffee prepararations, etc. When I drew a bath for my child, the tub water had black mold from the spigot. The room was not properly clean or ready for guests. Like the pool and whirlpool, the ice maker on our floor was broken. Again, I contacted the front desk and was given two options: receive ice from room service for a charge, or go to another floor. This was sold to me as a 4 star accomodation. This place was a not a 4 star.

Not great at all for the money. Room was dirty and it had a weird smell.

The overall stay was great. The biggest negative for me was that there is a $15 per day parking charge that you are not aware of until you try to leave the parking garage. This fee applies regardless if you self-park or not. My child also dropped a glass in the bathroom and it broke. I cleaned it up but asked that housekeeping bring a broom to be sure I got it all up and after requesting two times they never did show up but I was there on a holiday weekend and they were REALLY busy. The location is amazing and there is lots to do without going too far. Overall great stay!

The location just in front of the river.

The staff member for checkin was very friendly and set the stage for what I hoped to be a good experience. However, the sofa and the carpet in the executive room were stained and when I removed the cushions to setup up the kids bed, there was a pair of worn socks. When I pulled the bed frame up, there was several food wrappers underneath. The king bed was obviously in need of replacement as I rolled to the middle when I got in bed. I read some negative reviews before I booked the hotel, but was hoping they were isolated cases...not for me. For the cost, it was very disappointing. We checked out the pool and found it to be too cold to swim.

Were forced to book at this hotel because my sister won a scholarship for Breast Cancer for Young Women Conference. We were told that the rooms were blocked for the conf. and would get a special rate. However, the "special" rate was only on Thursday and we were forced to pay the full price for the remaining 2 nights. Why? We were never given an answer. The room was ok but there were stains on the fancy pillows on the beds, the countertop in the bathroom had a large damaged spot and there wasn't enough creamer and sugar for the coffee maker. A beer was 7 minimum and the food for the conference was downright horrible. Imagine, they offered raw oysters to chemo patients! For the next conference, we will stay elsewhere since this hotel was not worth the 180 a night. I will say one good thing though...the location was stunning and easy to get to shopping and dining.

I liked the location of the hotel. Staff was nice. TV in the room was old and not appealing. Internet was not free. Rooms with the "city" view are horrible, you just look out onto a rooftop of some sort.

Greeted as if was I was VIP. Very courteous front desk staff. Room service response time was excellent and the food was very good. When I could not find my room service menu, someone arrived to my room in less than 5 minutes to bring me a new menu.

This is the only major hotel in a metropolitan area that I know of that does not have some kind of scheduled airport shuttle service available. There is taxi service and a shuttle service you can reserve, BUT, the price depends on how many peple you can round up to accompany you! The rooms are confortable but the food is poor. Service is helpful.

This is a great hotel on the waterfront of Jacksonville. Very convienient for anyone planning on going to a Jaguars football game or activities at the Jacksonville Landing. The only problem is some road construction near the hotel.

didn't spend much time in the room but was dissappointed when it took nearly 30 minutes for bath cloths to be brought to us. none were left when the room was cleaned the night before and when we inquired, we were told that it was because they were in high demand. you think? duh!

Was visiting relatives, but made last minute decision to stay downtown on the river. Booked the reservation earlier on same day as arrival. When reached the hotel was overjoyed at the view and value. My children loved that they could open the window and watch the boats and bridges. The beds were very comfortable and shower pressure was good. Cleaning staff was courteous and helpful. Was able to walk to the Landing for the Christmas tree lighting. Because the hotel uses a parking garage that is also open to the public (12 a day charged automatically on check-in), we were unable to find a spot to park due to the Landing festivities. The valet did not hesitate to accomodate us by allowing us to park in reserved spots in front of the hotel. Our only complaint was that we ordered coffee off of a Starbucks menu in one of the lounges, but apparently the person did not know how to make the drink. Wasn't the worst I have had, but was surprised to find all of my caramel on the bottom! Definitely plan to stay again. Was an excellent value for the money!

The friendly staff, excellent view of river from room, quiet and relaxing. Not applicable. My stay was a mini vacation for myself and to reconnect with some of my best friends from all over the world. I enjoyed myself and relaxed. The staff from the bell men to the valet parking to the concierge to the front desk staff, to the cleaning personnel to the waitress at the restaurant were EXCELLENT. They made me feel welcomed and were ready to assist at all times.

From the time of check in to check out we had a very pleasant stay at the Hyatt. Desk staff were quite nice, our bell-hop xxx was super friendly and even took note that our daughter had an I-pod and had us moved to another room with a I-pod docking station and a better view to boot. The beds were super comfortable and clean. We had some family staying at the C.P. (not to be critical of the other guys) across the river and I thought our room was more nicely appointed. The only criticism I would have is that they could use a little more water pressure on the 18th floor for the shower and breakfast in the hotel restaurant was a tad pricey. Sincerely, Roger S. P.S. I would defiinately stay there again.

Location, very nice, nice staff, clean. The thermostat was very noisy and kept me up during the night.

Excellent location and value. Pool was closed and parking costly. Lovely rooms, lots of pillows, good view and friendly service.
