The hotel is finally undergoing a much needed makeover. We reserved a top floor water-view king room, but instead got a ground level king water view. They explained due to the renovations and work being done to the water pumps they were unable to occupy any rooms above the third floor. The room still had a great view of the harbor and the Goat Island driftway. And luckily we could not hear any construction noises during our entire stay. Luckily we were staying off season 12/11-12/13, otherwise parking would have indeed been an issue since much of the parking lots had been dug up as part of the renovation. We love this hotel due to the convenience of it: A: being a Hyatt property B: location in walking distance to some of the best restaurants and shopping in Newport. It has been in need of a makeover for some time. But, if the future design pictures on display currently in the lobby are what is indeed what everything will look like, then the interior of the hotel and hotel rooms will finally match the amazing views that the rooms afford. We can only hope.

Great employees. Shower had mold in corner and fan above had mold. I love the hotel, was great they upgraded us to a king size bed with a view of the ocean. Great hospitality and concierge. My only complaint was the bathroom, it was not clean enough and had mold in corners of the shower and in the overhead fan vent (which by the way the fan did not work). For a 3.5 star hotel, this is not acceptable in my opinion. Top of toilet seat was soiled as well.

In a time when the hotels in this area are very empty becasue you're not "in season" I'd have expected more. I upgraded so I can get FREE internet. But, we travel with more then one laptop. In this hotel, you can only sign on one machine at a time. I've stayed at HoJo's and never had such an issue. The Manager on duty asked," did you inquire about how many machines you can use"? My response is that I've done this in other hotels (having 2 computers)so I should not had had to ask. The room is small but very well appointed. The shower is lovely but, leaks all over the floor. In reality, the only thing this place has that many others don't is a great view...not worth the extra money (nearly 70 dollars extra per night). I'll know next time and so should you...I think online travel website overrated this hotel.

We arrived at 4pm to check in the front desk ran our credit card and informed us that our room was not ready. We were asked to wait and they would call when our room was available. We were not alone I would estimate at least twenty people were told the same thing. My wife and I were in Newport to attend a wedding that was being held in a adjoining hotel facility and was to take place at 6pm.The hotel was well aware of this fact and was still unprepared to deal with the problem. At around 5:15 pm we finally were able to go to our room .Needless to say it was extremely inconvenient and frustrating. We never even received an apology. In my opinion customer satisfaction is not a concern of this hotel.

bed sheets feel like plastic, 70/30 poly/cot. Had to run out to get new sheets. Smoke alarms right outside bathroom alarms going off every morning down hall. Extra fees for everything, internet, business center coffee.. nickel and dimed! only valet guys were good. rest of staff was disinterested in helping you. Dont ask for a long island ice tea.. Policy not to make it.. Guess they hate New Yorkers that much.

It is an excellent location. Our rooms were right above a flat roof with mechanical equipment on the roof, we were unable to open the windows because of the noise. It is a beautiful hotel, the wait staff in the bar area was a little short.

Ripped off is how best to describe our weekend stay here in August. Don't know who the "King" was when they measured for beds but most likely he was a twin, ridiculous. Room was'nt ready at four, was extremely small, bla, bla, bla and so on. Let's just call this place what it is. This is your basic attempt to throw money and a name at an old property, did'nt work. This pig wears a ton of lipstick. Stay at The Marriott you'll be glad you bypassed this poor excuse for a Hyatt.

Proir to our stay,I was not expecting the best after reading the other reviews. The room was great, water view was awesome and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful! We had an especially great experience at the restaurant, eating there one evening after a long day - near closing time and the satff was just great! Felt like home away from home!

We tayed just one night, but had a great dinner outside at sunset with live music. Slow food service & pricey, but great view & great music. Indoor pool was lots of fun for the kids. They offer a free van service from the hotel to the center of Newport (2 min drive) which was nice not to have to get the car out and find parking. Would be nice to stay in walking distance to the main Newport shops and food, but Goat Island was nice. A fun place with kids.

The room decor was very tasteful & elegant, views were fantastic. Charging $20 a day for parking, it should be complimentary there was plenty of parking space.

"We stayed in a 2 level, 2 bathroom suite with our 2 teen boys. Much more reasonable than getting 2 rooms. The room had a great balcony with unobstructed water & lighthouse view. Easy walk to town. Skip the overpriced & slow serviced restaurant (to be fair, we only ate one breakfast there) and walk across the bride for better & more atmospheric & much more reasonably priced food. Nice indoor heated pool (it was still chilly in July! Who knew?) Take advantage of friendly & helpful concierge."

Beautifully designed/tranquil room decor. Absolutely beautifully decorated and very comfortable rooms. Great outdoor view and nice outdoor bar/deck to relax. Would totally recommend hotel for couples and business travelers.
