Dont waste your money. Place is unsafe,a dive and grundgy. Look at all the reviews. Enjoy San Diego and stay downtown, closer to restaurants. Seedy area not far from this hotel.

friendly staff but need pool monitor. One of the guests made their baby swim in the pool with yellowish diaper (not swimming diaper). They opened the diaper and it was soiled with brown stains - everybody knows what it is. Unsanitary, none of the hotel staff knew about it but I saw it and other guests. Anyway, these guests probably knew nobody is staffing the pool so they just went ahead and did what they want to do.

Unique style, property amenities, above all location surrounded by water A stage located right near some of the rooms, Only stayed one night, but loved the ambience, location and convenience of adjacent restaurant. Outstanding views if you get the right rooms. I stayed with only my two young girls and felt safe. Family oriented property with a large pool, but would love to go back for a romantic stay alone with my husband. I'd be careful of the rooms behind the stage area. No performances during my stay but can't imagine the noise during a show.

We loved our bayview suite! Restuarant food was excellent. Pool and hot tub awesome. Housekeeping very accomodating. Spa treatment superb. Beds sooooo comfy. Loved it! Can't wait to go back. Would like to experience the concert series next visit. Thanks travel website and Humphreys.

The pool was like a tropical rain forest. This hotel was so nice. I was skeptical because I had never been to San Diego before and I am scared to get away from the big hotel chains but I read the reviews and it was a very pleasant good experience for our children and 75+ year old in-laws. The parking was a bit pricey but not any different than anywhere in california.

Beautiful location, friendly staff - sure worth the price we were able to pay! Older (because of this it had lots of beautiful full grown trees and plants) but well kept hotel on the marina. Beautiful location.

In general an excellent hotel but you need to be aware of possible aircraft noise from just across the water and also the only bar in the hotel is a music club so no chance of a quiet evening drink. Very reasonable parking, good tv and excellent bed and bedding. Would certainly go back again.

My husband and I stayed there for two nights while we went to a Graduation of the Marine's Bootcamp. This is a great location, and easy to get to from the Airport. We were within about 5 miles from the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, the Airport, Marine Corp Base...and only 50 feet from the water! The Hotel itself was great- we felt like we were on a Tropical Island!!! It was a bit chilly outside, but we were able to go swimming in the (clean) pool since it was nice and warm! I didnt think it was heated! One of the nights we had our toilet flood...and we went down to the lobby and they fixed it right away! Very helpful and pleasant staff! The gym was open at 5AM just as promised. i was able to go there and workout while i was watching all of the boats in the water. nice view. nice little ponds and luscious plants..it was its own little paradise. ALSO! If you like Sushi...on the same street of the hotel, is a place called Umi Sushi! It is the best sushi i have ever had...you gotta try it...great price for sushi too, and my husband and I just walked there from our hotel. I will definetely stay here again, and i would recommend this hotel to anyone going to San Diego!!! :)

If you want a cookie cutter hotel by the freeway in the suburbs, this is NOT for you!! The motif is Bali Hai meet Gilligans Island with large palm trees, very lush vegitation, exotic birds hanging out, koi fish in a pond, overlooking a marina on one side and the San Diego bay on the other. The rooms are a bit "rustic" and not fancy, but hacve nice wood beam ceilings, patios or porches, and are adequately sized for 4 people to move around. The beds are confortable and the room is clean. parking is close to your room. Shelter Island is really beatiful and it is worth getting up esarly to take a walk along the waterfront. BE ADVISED that the North Is. (Coronado) Naval Air Station is across San Diego Bay (1-11/2 miles) and fighter jets can take off somewhat early in the AM. It can sound like a freight train or earthquake. It is a small price to pay for a really unique place! I have stayed here multiple times and will stay again

It's an old hotel but brought up to speed and very modern once you step into the lobby. Cool and simple design but impressive - and the garden is breathtaking - one feels like on a tropical island. Rooms very spacious and clean and we had a small balcony overlooking the harbor. There was a wedding going on Sat. night but it was over at 10:30. We had breakfast in a most beautiful setting overlooking the harbour. Service and food were excellent, so was the dining area with table clothes and very comfortable chairs - again very modern. I couldn't find anything I could complain about this place. It was worth the price.

Nice clientele very helpful. The quality, the staff, the maintenance, the cleanliness. The is a great location, but the service and the hotel itself is sorely lacking. The tub wouldn't drain, the windows wouldn't shut all the way and there were no screens. The maintenance man didn't speak enough English for us to be able to communicate the problem with the windows. He shrugged and said, No fix. Hotel old. He said the bath tub was fixed, but we had problems with it every time we used it. I wonder why the maid didn't notice that it wouldn't drain when she supposedly cleaned it.

Just got back from San Diego and a stay at the Humphreys. The room was a single, was remodled, clean, great bed, microwave, small refidgerator. What more do you want? The staff was fine, but I don't usually depend on the staff to provide entertainment. There was a small issue with my door insulation, I called the front desk, and the maintenance fixed it nearly immediately. I was actually shocked at the quick response considering it was not an emergency. I had some friends over from another Hotel and we had a few drinks at the lounge, (what a view), and enjoyed the music. They agreed that the Humphreys was a great deal and in a great location. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I bet this place is great when they have concerts in the summer! There might be a parking issue with all the concert goers but I bet it's worth it.

Beautifully landscaped and well maintained; felt like we were on a tropical island. Staff were very friendly and eager to please. Food was great however we felt the dinner prices were a little pricey. Would like to see a bigger menu selection. Wish there would have been some restaurants/stores close by as we didn't have a car. They need more outlets in the rooms; ours only had 2 accesable outlets which made it hard for all of us trying to charge cellphones, use blowdryer/curling iron, etc. Also would have been helpful to have some hooks & towel bars in bathroom to hang clothes/wet bathing suits on.

From the minute we arrived we felt as if we were on vacation. The landscape is immaculate, gorgeous and lush. The buildings have a retro surfer feel to them, but our room was modern and seemed newly refurbished. We had a 2 queen garden view room- which I guess is cheaper than the ocean view, but the garden is so gorgeous that you don't feel like you are missing anything. (though you could see the marina from our room as well) There were gorgeous hibiscus everywhere. There was even a koi pond and 2 blue macaws that lived in the garden area near the pool. I was a little concerned about being near the concert venue on a concert night, but we did not hear a thing. We slept wonderfully. We stayed at Humphreys for 1 night preceding our 10 day Mexican cruise. We left our car at the hotel- parking for the duration of the cruise was included. The parking area is accessed with your room key. Also included was a shuttle that took us to and from the pier. It was a very good value since the cost of parking near the pier for 10 days would have exceeded the cost of the room. We stayed on Halloween and they even had candy bars for the kids. I found the staff before and during our stay very nice and helpful. They even mailed my daughter's postcards for her. We were very pleased with the hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again.

The hotel was on beautiful, lush grounds. Room was spotless and updated, although small. Hotel close to downtown, Seaport Village, Balboa Park and a Starbucks!! Would absolutely come back.
