Friendly staff, clean. Bad breakfast. Very friendly staff, but bad breakfast.

I used to use this motel a lot. Over the last year, I have used it twice. My first complaint is minor and is that they refused to do anything to help me get points toward future trips (based on hotel-affliated cards) solely due to the fact that I reserved on-line. In March, I was having a "girls' weekend" based at the hotel. I got a call that my 86 year-old mother was in the hospital in St. Louis. By 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, we were packed and ready to go. At the desk, I explained the situation and the owner?/Manager? refused to give me a refund for Saturday night. He said the corporate office wouldn't let him as I booked on-line. I did save about $8 a night booking on-line. I offered to pay full price and bring a hospital receipt back to prove the situation. He still refused. The one night in a mediocre hotel cost around $***. My girl friends and I used to meet several times a year at 2 nights each. NEVER will we go back.

We found this hotel to be completely adequate for our stay. This is a basic hotel with not much flash or extras. Room seemed clean. Staff was friendly.

The Howard Johnson in Monteno was very comfortable. The room was very roomy. The room was very clean and the service was very good. It was also located close to the interstate, which made it easy to get to where we wanted to go. It was close to ONU, shopping and Chicago.

Always greeted by staff which are very helpful and polite. THe room is always clean and with a fresh arouma. Very nice location. Was satisified, no grieviences. I totally enjoyed my stay. The atmosphere was lovely and I can;t speak more highly of the staff. Very accommodating. The Location is great, right off the highway while there are various eating locations and gas stations, readily available.

The staff was great. The accomodations were clean and sufficient for anyone just needing a good solid room for a few nights. It was so quiet-it didn't seem like a motel stay at all! We stayed 2 nights and were pleasantly surprised after reading several negative reviews. The property could stand to be updated but it was o.k. for a no-frills, reasonable accomdation. Kudos to the staff for creating a comfortable atmosphere for a very tired couple!!

I shared the room with 2 other moms. We were visiting our college sons for one night. We weren't expecting a lot, and were pleased that our room was clean, having sufficient towels, etc. The major problem was the smoke from cigarettes. Two of us have allergies to cigarette smoke. We were on a non-smoking floor, apparently, plus were in a non-smoking room. The hallways reeked of smoke and also our room. I ended up with a horrific sinus headache from having to sleep there. The hotel manager was pleasant. They had coffee in the morning, even a continental breakfast. I just couldn't recommend this to anyone because of the smoke problem.

It was located close to where I needed to be. I think they need to do more with the breakfast menu. No pets were allowed, but we had. Luckily they worked with me and it was only a minor irritation. The breakfast left little to be desired, although it was nice not to have to spend more money on food elsewhere. Overall, experience was about a 7. Not bad, but not great either.

I like that it was right off the express way and close to my destination for the following day. We would have liked the pool to be open later. Nice spot, rooms were clean enough and the gentleman behind the desk was very nice and helpful with a recommendation for food.

LOCATION. Hot tub did not work, pool was cold, and breakfast was not sufficient. Our stay was not too bad. I really wanted the hot tub, which was advertised, as I have a bad back. The staff was nice.
