This was a perfectly good hotel. We just stopped for an overnight rest in the middle of a long drive. Our room and the common areas were clean. Room was comfortable & spacious. Breakfast was adequate. Nothing fancy - just some mini bagels & muffins, cereal and a waffle maker. Fine for a quick bite before going on the road again. All for a decent price.

Registration clerk was very friendly. This hotel offers a continental type breakfast, but once they set it out, nothing is cleaned or refilled (pancake batter dried out on counters. No juice, etc. Dangerous bed frames. Metal sticks out about 6": Cut my leg twice (very bloody and painful). Terribly hard, thin mattress. I chose HoJo from experience. I didn't know that this type existed. Very noisy from I-95 traffic.

Paper thin walls and floors. Stayed on the 2nd floor and heard children running in the room above us. Could hear conversations in next rooms...you get the idea. Lobby computer wasn't working and staff indicated it was more of a prop and has not worked in awhile. Cont breakfast was the minimum Not worth the money....but in fairness overheard some snowbirds who loved it and would be back. I guess their standards were a little lower or the little green books at the gas stations provided a better discount to place them in the acceptable level.

Accidentally purchased a smoking room. Aside from the smell (which I understand the hotel can't help) there were burn holes in the bed spreads which should have been replaced. Bathroom not clean as it should be. AC blew directly at beds.

We went to Ashland to attend a concert. Stayed only one night - that was enough. The beds were very uncomfortable, I would advice anyone staying there to at least bring their own pillow.... The beds has no blankets, only the sheets and the "comforter". (How close to your face do YOU like that cover?). The staff was not overly friendly, "breakfast" available only until 9:30, even on the weekend. Location is ok, close to the Interstate and a number of restaurants.

Close to Richmond. Nice place, clean. Many restaurants and shopping nearby.

It was very nice for the price. Staff was polite and helpful.

As you enter the road to get to the hotel may have an OMG moment but as you get closer you will see you made the right choice (the Econolodge next door needs some revamping!). The hotel was very clean, but no-frills. The man who ran the front desk (maybe the owner?) was efficient but needed some lessons in southern hosptalility. Overall, it was a pleasant experience a great location if you are going to spend the day at King's Dominion.

My significant other and I traveled to Kings Dominion that weekend and had a great time there. I was dissapointed whe i got to the hotel to see "someone elses hairs" on our sheets and pillowcases, in the shower, and near the sink in the bathroom. However I did like the room, it was very spacious, but also very hot at the same time. I thought the air conditioning may have been broken at the time. I dont know if i would choose this hotel again.

Room was spacious with fridge and sink. Too close to route 95, windows single pane and very noisy. Hotel was nice except our room faced the highway. It was so noisy from the traffic it was hard to sleep. Replacing the windows would be a big plus. Other than that it was a nice place.

Excellent stay at this hotel. Overall a very clean hotel and comfortable rooms. Good customer service and admenities. Easy to find. Continental breakfast is very good and the staff kept it stocked.

We stayed here while visiting Kings Dominion. The hotel was neat in appearance and was clean overall. The mattresses could use an upgrade and the hotel is a bit close to the interstate, but after a day ay the park, you may not even notice. There is a Cracker Barrel across the street and a Ruby Tuesday just down the road. Most of the fast food places are nearby also. The park is a quick 6 miles down the road. This hotel is beside a rather seedy looking Econo Lodge, and we were happy that the Howard Johnsons was in so much better condition. The staff was friendly, and we had no problems. Maid service even left us extra towels!

The Howard Johnson was very nice. I was really impressed with the price and the rooms. The rooms were very spacious and relatively clean. I brought cleansers with me, as I always do, but I didn't see the need to use them (but I used them anyway). Check in was a little long, 20 minutes. There were two people working the desk but it took both persons to help with one check-in. Overall the staff was nice and pleasant. I will definitely use this hotel again, however, I will be sure not to expect a quick check-in.

The location to Kings Dominion Park, to Wal-Mart and other stores and restaurants. I felt the cleaning staff rushed us out in the morning and still didn't do their job totally. There was also a confusion with room rates at check-in.

Nice place, not hard to find off of I-95. Clean, quiet, allows pets, nice, though limited free breakfst. Suites are bigger and have more than regular rooms, as expected.

A bit hard to find, but a pleasant surprise. Fairly new, very clean, everything worked like it should, comfortable bed. Breakfast was marginal, but typical for this price. Large comfortable lobby.

The Howard Johnson Inn and Suites in Ashland, Va. was a great value for a family visiting Kings Dominion. Very good price compared to others in the area. Relatively new motel. Breakfast was lacking but plenty of options nearby. Room was nice and comfortable.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. My stay was excellent. The staff was great and when we needed anything, the staff was there to provide it. The location was great. Super Wal-Mart right across the road and roadside restaurants within 5-10 minutes of driving. Kings Dominion which was our family destination was only 6 miles away so the location was perfect. I would stay there again. However, if you are going during the hot months of summer, they do not have a pool.

Very clean. Staff very informative. Fridge in room in excellent condition. This is my second stay. Would stay again.

Great value, minimal amenities. They have added a basic continental breakfast. I was able to secure a smoke free and pet free room at a great price. Very clean carpet, excellent A/C, exceptionally helpful/courteous front desk. Would stay again after a long day at Kings Dominion!
