Dirty, bugs in the rooms, staff unsure of company polices. This hotel needs one thing demolished.

Bring your camping gear and pitch a tent in the grass instead of staying in the room. This place is a dump. At least the alcohol made it funny.

Nothing. Everything. It was nasty and dirty. The lobby smelled like smoke the minute you walked in. The bathroom was disgusting with human hair all over the floor and walls. The mattresses had stains all over them and the sheets did not even stay on the bed. This hotel was disgusting. The worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my years of traveling.

This place is horrible. From the unbathed clerk to the fithy rooms. Probably better suited for a crack house. And that's a compliment. STAY AWAY!

Nothing. Everything. It was absolutely horrible. There were brown stains on the wall and bugs in the room. I would not want my worst enemy to stay in this hotel.

HOW CAN THIS PLACE STAY OPEN UNDER THE ""HOWARD JOHNSON"" NAME? DON'T THEY HAVE STANDARDS? Embarrassing experience...I feel bad for the good people of South Bend.

Nothing. Dirty, shower did not work, mildew smell. The first room was near some very loud music, we requested a new room, and we were tired so we stayed. It was not real clean the shower did not work and there were small flies. It had a mildew smell.

CONShotel looks ok from the outside but the rooms need some major work! there is no fridge in the room, light by the sink in the bathroom wasn't working, ceiling in the bathroom had mold on it, the bed's springs were poking me all night.PROSStaff was kind of friendly and it right by Notre Dame campus ......would I stay there again?!?!? NO...

Evening staff very helpful. Very old, bad smell, day staff very unprofessional. I will never stay at that hotel again. Very disappointed, enough that I did not stay the entire time. I was afraid to use the shower or sink. I brought sheets from home to lie on top of their sheets and pillows. Ran out of breakfast foods in am.

Wow...I've stayed in some dumps, but this one tops them all. I was in the room for 10 minutes and left. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Trust me, spend 30 extra dollars a night and stay in the VERY nice Jameson Inn across the street.

Not one thing. The fact that there were bugs all over the floor. This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had in my life. I am a touring musician and I was given the worst service imaginable at this hotel and I'll never stay at another ever. There were mosquitoes in the sink, pill bugs on the floor, and dead bug carcasses all over the carpet. The room smelled terrible and the air conditioner did not work.

In for an ND game in 2007. Didn't want to touch anything in the room. Peeling wallpaper, ripped furniture, unknown stain on the bathroom walls, and leaking faucets. Run from this hotel if you can. Pay more for another hotel.

Right by the highway. Dirty and run down. Stains on carpet, pillows, and bed spread. This was a minus two stars. I would not have stayed, but it was 3 in the morning and I was out again at 7.

This had good looking front, but back rooms are in motel like with outside corridors. Going from my room to the front lobby, I had to pass through uncovered area while it was raining. I've asked for a cot or rollaway bed and they did not have one. The room was not a good quality one and I probably could have room at motel 6 down the road with $* instead of $*. Inn of St. May or Jameson down the street looked much better.

Convenient location and adequate free breakfast. Could be cleaner. Dirty toilets and hair in the tubs are not appreciated. The hotel served it's purpose for our trip to South Bend, Indiana.

"When we got to the hotel and ckecked into our room, there was mold allover the wall. Plus you could tell that the hotel tried to cover it with wallpaper, because the wallpaper was pelling off with mold on it. The rooms also smelled like someone was smoking in them for days. This was a bad request for a hotel and it mad Howard Johnson look bad when most of us know what they are all about."

The breakfast was good, The bathroom was dirty; particularly the floor was filthy bad characters staying there. Thought there was a drug deal going down next door! Can't find anything good about the hotel. For what you got it was way overpriced!

"Worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Paint & wallpaper falling of the walls, the whole place inside and out is run down looking. Beds were like sleeping on a wooden table. Your better off sleeping in your car! Seriously, pay the extra $ a night staying somewhere else other than this place. Staff was friendly but that's the only positive thing. I will never stay at this Howard Johnson again!"

Convenient. Old carpet in the hallway. Good location, marginal quality but only one star, so I didn't expect very much.
