The Howard Johnson Express Roanoke was overpriced and undermaintained. The property was dated, and certainly from 30 or 40 years ago. The bed and pillows were okay. The room was shabby, and needed some attention, and the bathroom looked like one in a cheap apartment. The breakfast was okay, but the orange juice was little more than orange flavored water.

Convenient to friends and family. Bathroom was a little small. My overall experience was great. I will be staying there in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at the Howard Johnson Inn. It was clean, the staff was friendly and quick to offer advice. The breakfast was fantastic .The location was perfect. Its right on the I-81. It was our second trip here and we intend to come back in the future.

Great place to stay while traveling. Very clean for a "pet friendly" hotel.

Kinda funky place, brick in interior walls, but overall a great place for an inexpensive night where all the basics and then some are covered. Nice free breakfast, remarkably quick check-in, wireless internet worked flawlessly, and spacious room. One possible negative for some: Seemed to be a popular place for truckers & we had a refrigerated truck turning on & off all night across parking lot. Ran the fan & hardly noticed it though.

The price was reasonable. It needs to be upgraded. This is an older motel with the rooms disconnected from the lobby making it difficult to get to breakfast if you want to eat in your room. The motel could use some upgrading. We were there over memorial day weekend and they were still working on getting the pool up and running.

The hotel was not very clean at all, floors looked like they had not been swept forever and mirrors were also digusting. Would not stay again or recommend this hotel.

We have been staying here off and on for years. They are under new ownership.. big mistake! We checked in, got a shower and the blow dryer was missing, called the front desk, they said they didn't have another one so my husband had to go buy a blow dryer. Turned on TV, all channels were fuzzy. We called office and complained. They moved us to another room that had a blow dryer (fancy that) and the TV channels were fairly clear (Yay!); however the air conditioner had the floor soaked, the curtain wouldn't close all the way and the brass lock was broken on the door! WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! Don't be fooled! Pictures are from past owners. This place needs to get their act together or close down!

We were staying one night and it suited our needs. Nothing terribly fancy. There is a good bbq place around the corner, The Three Little Pigs but not too much else that is very close. The pool was closed but looked nice. The view was beautiful from the upper 2 sections of the hotel but we stayed in the bottom section which only offered a view of the parking lot.

We stayed here shorty as we got in late and had to leave early the next morning. We did get to look at the pool, and it looked great. The room was comfortable and the staff we talked to was very friendly. I would stay here again.
