It was a run down, seedy place and I didn't even check in. Just terrible.

The staff was very helpful and wanted to make me happy as far as room choice. The front desk was willing to change my room to anything I wanted. Although it was a smoking room, the sheets even smelled like smoke. My clothes smelled like smoke when I left the room. The room was dingy. As silly as it sounds, do not stay in the smoking room if you are not a smoker. The sheets and pillows smelled like the smoke had been there for years. The room itself was dingy. But the staff was very courteous and wanted to help in any way possible. I'm sure that the summer is nicer because of the pool and the proximity of the rooms to the pool. If you are a true girly girl, this is not the hotel for you. The staff is truly great.

Hotel was convenient to many shops, restaurants and highways but it was FILTHY! Our socks turned black from the dirty carpets. We wouldn't dare go barefoot. Be aware of what you get. No one had written a recent review and if I had seen this, I would have stayed elsewhere. Our fees were non-refundable and we will never stay here again!

For the money this was just fine. Staff was nice and room was kept clean.

Not one thing. Continental breakfast did not look fresh & front desk was not courteous. Grounds were not taken care of. Room keys did not work most of the time. Parking area was not light well.

They let us check in at 6am, which was helpful because we had been driving overnight. (without charge) The staff member was sleeping behind the desk before we checked in. The first room they sent us to was used, they called right away and switched it but it was a major inconvience because we had all of our luggage in the room. The room smells were not pleasant.

Outdoor pool and Tiki bar. Seen better days. Like I did in the early sixties. Outstanding outdoor pool, large with 10 foot deep end. Great out side bar and great Jap restaurant with tea house. Superb flowers, but hotel is beat. You can't go home again!

Hotel met my needs, for the price it was great. There were not a lot of amenities but not expected for the price. Staff at the desk was friendly and helpful. A bar on the premises would have been nice, I think there was one previously but was closed and they are trying to find someone new to operate it. It was nice to have a mini fridge and microwave in the room.

The bathroom had been remodeled and was clean. It's just a few feet from rt. 17 (6 lanes), and traffic noise is awful! This hotel is probably 50 years old, and it shows. The room is moderately attractive and surprisingly. The bathroom has been remodeled. The room & bathroom were clean. However, the hotel is right on rt 17, just a few feet from 6-8 lanes of traffic. The traffic noise is very bad, even at 3 am! I had to turn on the AC to try and drown out the traffic noise at night. I don't think I would have been able to sleep without this attempt to mask the traffic sounds. This is a budget motel, and you get what you pay for. They seem to rent blocks of rooms to workers that are staying in the area for several weeks or months. These workers go to work early, so they will be gone before most people get up. Still, not a place to go with the kids or for anyone that might be picky. The motel has a V-shape layout with the sliding glass doors facing towards rt 17. There is no way to avoid the traffic noise. The motel was cleaner that I expected for the budget level, and the management does its best but it is what it is and nothing can make it better. If it wasn't for the traffic noise, I would recommend it as a cheaper place to spend the night. But, for me personally, the traffic noise is a deal killer. There are other hotels along rt. 17 that are much better (and quieter).

I called ahead to request extra pillows. I was told "no problem" and I would receive them. When I arrived (albeit, nearly 3am)the clerk was asleep on the floor. I knocked and he awoke, and was very nice. However, I asked if I had received the pillows, he said yes. When I got in the room...guess what...no pillows. I was too tired and I figured the clerk had gone back to sleep o the floor so I didn't bother calling to request them again. The room smelled of mildew. There was hair in the bathtub and on the shower walls.

Convenient location, clean and good buys for area. Room doors open directly to outside and close to rt 17. Surprisingly clean and well renovated and appointed room. Too close to rt 17, but traffic not audible with a/c on. Nice pool. Close to shopping center (walking distance). Some travelers will not like room door that open directly to outside.

If you are looking to save money and need a decent room, this place was fine. It had an iron and board, good TV, clean bed and nice hot water, as well as internet. I can't ask for much more.

Location. Dust and debris under and around bed. Hotel needs to be upgraded to the 21st century, very 1970s.

the howard johnson inn - ramsey, nj, is a decent overnight stay for one's money. all amenities worked although had to check that the unit was plugged in. the counter space in the bathroom had limited space but enjoyed the nice hot shower. the location was very good with gas station and shopping plaza right next door.

Convenient location. Very close to major roadway. Met expectations, well described online, surrounding restaurants and stores were nice surprise.

Staff very helpful. Relatively clean. Very quiet. Didn't refill amenities in the room very well...i.e.. coffee or cups. Dusty. Overall great value for the area. Relatively clean, high areas were dusty. Older but kept up fairly well. Staff was very friendly. Area was easy to get to and accessible to convenience shopping and dining. Nice and quiet.

Light/easy breakfast available.. Smell and sight of mold; damaged bathroom door frame. Reasonably priced with pleasant and competent employees, however some cosmetic work is needed.
