We stayed at this hotel for 3 days and the stay was great. The room was comfortable and clean with free breakfast. The area like the others think is safe and the acces to public train system is also a plus. Would love to stay again and this is a excellent place not too far away from manhattan and is well priced.

We had never stayed in NYC and booked this based on the reviews of this site and the fact the Manhattan hotels were really expensive. This hotel is is clean and looks to have been renovated within the last 1-2 years. One thing we noticed when we were booking is the room sizes and bed sizes vary greatly. For two people the king size bed room was fine its a little tight but not too bad considering we were outta there by 8-9 am and back around 11pm-1am the subway is about 10mins away from the hotel and the area seems safe but not clean by any means this was a little bit of a shock when we were first walking to the subway but quickly realized its par for the course for this city. It takes about 10-20 Mins to get to Times Square depending if you catch an express train . It was a 100 degrees the week we went ans the cars were all a/c but one . The walk back at night was fine lighting on the streets were fine however your not in a small town remember i recommend you watch you surroundings like city when you walk at night all and all this hotel was steal for the price and commuting was a minor sacrifice for the massive savings

Staff was very helpful. Hairs on pillowcase. Dirty sheets and extreme noise from people and trains. On the plus side, the desk staff was extremely helpful.

For personal reasons I needed to change my room, there was no questions asked, it was done imediately! I would definately without hesitation stay here again...........I highly recommend this hotel. Great service.

I used the previous reviews to select this hotel for our trip to New York. It was a great location for the money we paid and the places we wanted to visit. The hotel had been remodeled and looked as if it was new. The rooms were clean; the bathroom was spacious and clean. There were no foul smells. We bought 4 all day metro cards for 7.50 each, took the Q36 bus across the street to 179 St Subway station and took the 'F' subway to Manhattan, all in about an hour. We traveled all over Manhattan on the bus hopping from bus to bus. M6 took us from 34th street to Battery Park where we wanted to take the ferry to the Status of Liberty but all tickets were sold out when we got there at 2:30pm. On the way back, the Q36 bus from 179 st station stopped in front of the hotel - no security concerns. Breakfast was nice. We used the microwave oven in the lobby to warm up left overs from last nights' dinner. We took an Ikea twin-sized futon. The two full-sized beds and the futon were perfect for my family of four. We kept an ice-chest in the room. The lobby had an ice dispenser which we used to keep cola, water, milk and other food items cold.Wireless Internet was available. I was able to check my email on my Dell notebook and use google maps. I did not feel like doing any work other than that.All-in-all we had a great time in New York. I recommend this hotel especially for a family like mine.

New and clean but nothing special. Very spotty internet, questionable neighborhood, poor access to expressways. Very basic breakfast, good staff. parking is very tight.

The hotel room was cleaned everyday. It was a non-smoking room and it smelled seriously of cigarette smoke, and when I called to complain they spayed the room. Good hotel for the price. The rooms get cleaned well everyday. The noise from the LIRR trains are annoying, especially since I was placed in the last room close to the tracks. The non-smoking room I requested smelled badly of cigarette smoke and when I called to complain they used an odor removal spray instead of switching my room especially since many of the rooms were empty.

Our first trip to NYC. We were there just for sightseeing. We didn't want to pay the Manhattan hotel prices so we chose this hotel because of the price and (supposed) proximity to a subway station. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful. Our room was tiny, with a king bed that took up most of the area. I liked the wi-fi access. The continental breakfast was minimal, but enough. The area was not the best but we had no problems. But when we left the hotel for the subway, the closest station is about a 20 min walk, uphill and then downhill, to 61st and Woodside station. We were bushed when we got there in the morning and really tired after a long day of sightseeing followed by a 20 min. trek to the hotel. We did this for two days, then discovered that the Q60 bus stops right in front of the hotel. We got on the bus, and rode about 5 minutes to the 33rd St subway station and cut out all that walking. There are no eateries close, but there is a pizza place about 5 blocks away and a liquor store right next door with a 7-11 across the street (the street is acutally about 6 lanes of traffic which all come together at 65th Pl and Queens Bl.). All in all a decent place to stay for the money, especially if you take advantage of the bus/subway combo.

I would definitely recommend this marvelous hotel to anyone. It has superb rooms for the best prices I have seen by far. The spacious room was impeccably clean and the king size bed was absolutely splendid. It was conveniently located by the LIRR making it only 25 minutes into the city. Their free internet, breakfast, parking was suitable and it made it possible for me to enjoy my stay without any worries. Their great staff helped me and my spouse in every way possible and was very pleasant throughout our entire stay. This hotel surpasses all others I have paid greater amounts for. I look forward to going back soon as soon as the weather warms up.

Howard Johnson Inn is very new and in excellent shape. Room was clean and had basic amenities. Plenty of parking and seemed safe.Exceeded my expectations for basic accomodations visiting a neerby relative. Neerest motel to Queens.

HVAC system was the one of the best I've experienced. The carpet showed signs of ware. Very large and comfortable room. Room had the latest HVAC system. The bathroom was also large, very clean and updated. Room accommodations were better than expected.

The hotel has been recently remodeled and looks brand new.......I actually thought it was a new hotel. Rooms were small but incredibly clean. Beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only problem I had with this hotel is the location. It is located in Queens Village, which is a very old area.....I didn't feel comfortable walking outside at nite. There were no nice restaurants in the area. There were a couple of delis and pizza bars, but they looked dirty. To get to Manhattan you had to take the bus (there is a bus stop across the street from the hotel) to the subway station, then take a 20 minute subway ride into Manattan. It costs only 2.00 to ride the bus/subway, but if you stay in this hotel and plan on going into New York and Manhattan everyday I recommend buying an unlimited use MetroCard (24 per person for 7 days of unlimited use and is valid for the bus and subway system). If you are traveling on a budget and do not mind a lengthy trip into New York, then this hotel is perfect. For the price I would stay there again.
