The Howard Johnson Inn - Asheville Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina was the worst hotel I've ever been to! The manager/hotel staff had to have written the reviews for this hotel! There's absolutely no way anyone could enjoy this hotel. That weekend was our one year anniversary and when we arrived at the hotel, the shingles were hanging from the roof and to me, it almost looked condemned. When we entered the room, it smelled musty. The tub was filthy, there was something sticky in the chair, and when I pulled the covers back, there looked to be a lipstick smudge on the sheets. This told me that the bed linen had not been changed. I went to complain and to ask the front desk clerk to at least change the sheets. The clerk told me that the housekeeping staff had gone for the day and he would give me the sheets so I could do it. The manager was somewhere on the property and would not speak to me personally to address the problem. VERY DISSATISFIED! Again, I do not recommend this hotel to any of my friends-I would not even recommend this hotel to any of my enemies!

It had a balcony/patio for every room. We had some smokers in our group so they could step out there to smoke instead of going out to a lobby. It looked really old and needs some renovations. The rooms were clean but the hallway smelled funny. Mainly like an old place. It needs renovations but it was a good price and we felt safe. We were looking for cheap and close to Biltmore house. We also wanted balconies for our smokers.

Great location! Keys work! Dark, dank, no internet in the room. Great location; no frills; clean.

The hotel was close to the Biltmore and downtown attractions. Th rooom was large and service good. The desk clerk willingly gave me a couple extra coffee packets so I could have coffee first thing in the AM without going out to the dining area.Perfect for a cofeee lover. The only inconvenience is having to use a key to leave the room and walk to the breakfast area, however that is a good safety feature.

Proximity to Biltmore estate. Toilet was not anchored to floor. Poor maintenance

The Howard Johnson Asheville Biltmore hotel staff was excellent. We arrived much earlier than expected, and the staff let us check in right away. We received a call from the desk approximately 20 minutes after arriving just to see if everything was okay. Upon check-out in the morning, again we were greeted with exceptionally friendly staff. The room and facilities were VERY dated. I was truly reminded of a room we stayed in with my grandparents back in the 70's (I kept waiting for the Brady Bunch music to start playing). Interior corridors smelled musty and just plain old. The room was clean and very large, but in need of updating. Walls and carpeting was dingy--not exceptionally dirty but yellowed with age. The beds were not uncomfortable, but not new, either. There was no safety mechanism on the sliding glass door in our room, although it did have a lock. It also came off the track when opened. The locks on exterior doors opening from the parking areas were very worn. My key didn't work in one of the locks which was just plain worn out. Because these were keyed locks, I would be concerned they had not been changed in quite some time. I did not observe any other safety issues in the parking areas after dark since we entered through the main enterance later in the night. The hotel was quiet, and in what appeared to be a respectable area. We did not hear any disturbances or road noises from our room while we were there. Breakfast was the bleakest of continental. (What happened to the old HoJo Restaurant?) The dining room was large and clean. I would not choose to stay at this hotel again. The amenities and overall experience did not live up to my expectations for the price.

Large rooms. Rundown. The hotel was probably really nice at one time, but current maintenance of the building and grounds has been neglected.

This hotel had no dining options, just a cold (but acceptable) breakfast. Grounds and hallways needed work, but the room was quite nice, roomy and comfortable.

Great location; adequate rooms. Confusing doors at entrances; two keys to get in and out. Good value and location.

The decor was seventies....staff were mostly hillbillies. However the room was decent and clean as was the pool.

To much junk for sale in the lobby. Neds better lobby for sitting around and meeting people. Very peculiar layout, but does not affect the amenities, except for the lobby. Excellent location. Nice room.

The property was old and run down.

Convenient location. Old. Sliding door to patio had to be put back on track and seemed to let a lot of cold air in all though room temp was good with heat on. Great location. Old building. Hallways smelled funny but rooms were ok. Queen size beds a plus.

The Howard Johnson in Asheville was very clean and comfortable. The room itself met all expectations. Care had been taken to update and maintain the older facility. An elevator would have been an asset to get luggage to the second floor. The lock system to enter made us wonder about security, but the immediate neighborhood looked fine. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch only; the food was good and cost moderate. I would stay there again. You could easily walk to the Biltmore Village area.

The Howard Johnson Inn was very comforting to us, the room was very nicely laid out with a small coffee maker for the next morning. I was suprised to see a small sink outside the main bathroom which helped her get ready while I took a shower after her. The location was easy to find and extremely close to the Orange Peel where we had an awesum experience while ShineDown rocked the night away.

This was a blast from the past ....1970... no sober front desk clerk.....no fridge in the room, decor 40 years old plus...ac was too loud to leave on at nite... very overpriced for the quality...ps modest breakfast was $ 6.00 extra ...time to update ...now!!!!!
