HJ was older and smokey in the hallways, so it did not provide a good first impression. However, the roomm and bathroom were clean and fresh smelling. The breakfast and restaurant atmosphere were very nice. So I felt like I got a good value for the money.

The restaurant was very generous in their servings. The front desk staff was quite rude. My family of 5 arrived at the hotel and was given a room with one double bed. When I went to the front desk to get it corrected, the person at the desk snapped at me and acted very put out to have to change our room. The hotel smelled awful and unclean. The room was very dark even with all the lights on.

Dingey, dark, smelly, dirty. A real hell-hole.

Reserved a non-smoking, late-arrival room. When I arrived they had cancelled my reservation because I didn't check in early. I showed them my special-items listing on my printout and it showed a non-smoking, late-arrival. They said they had only one non-smoking room and gave it to me. When I walked in the door the strong smell of Urine assailed me. Upon checking out the bathroom I found my feet sticking to the floor, and could see the Urine stains on the wall and could see the urine had been splashed on everything there, even the Kleenexes sticking out of the Kleenex case. I quickly put my suitcase up and off the floor, and kept my clothes on (including shoes), and didn't get out of the bed unless I had to for the remainder of the night. I couldn't wait for the sun to come up so I could leave the place. Nasty. Unbelievably NASTY!

Friendly staff, very accessible and accommodating. Inside hallways could use some renovating. Older building. Good hotel, friendly staff, parking is reimbursed and very close and convenient. Good amenities and right next to the airport.

I thought I would be getting a good deal at the price I paid. But I would have been better off at the Econo lodge across the street. The room was a non smoking room, yet reeked of cigarettes. The beds werenot comfy at all and smeeled of smoke and urine. The WiFi was spotty and eventually I could not get onto the net from my laptop or my wifes. I have stayed at the HoJos in Portland and that stay was by far better then this one. I will no longer recommend this hotel in the Bangor area. You will be better off somewhere else.

The Dog down the hall kept whineing, and barking. The people next to us had there TV to loud. We had to leave that hotel a day earley and check in to another hotel, rest of the weakend.

It was quiet. Smell. This is an older motel. It was a good stay overall, but parking lots weren't cleaned very well.

Everything was good except the restaurant. We were seated by an umkempt, unfriendly older man who seated us at a booth that smelled of urine. The waitress, however, was great and reseated us. She was very friendly and helpful. I thought the prices were a bit high. We ate breakfast there and paid about 5.00 for our 2 year old grandchild's meal that consisted of 2 slices of French toast.

We bascially came to Bango for the graduation of our cousin, and we needed a place to stay that was close to the University, clean and not expensive. We found that place and enjoyed our stay!

The fact that I could leave it. Non-smoking room reeked of cigarette smoke and no hot water- rude desk clerk - no in room coffee supplies for coffee maker. This hotel's appearance was fair - however the non smoking room reeked of cigarette smoke and industrial deodorizer. There was in room coffee maker with no supplies - when the front desk was contact (morning clerk) he said yes there should be supplies (no offer to provide or apology) we were advised to go to the lobby for a cup of coffee. There was no hot water - the morning desk clerk would not talk to us at check out - simply ignored us and took the key card - no apology or adjustment made for inconvenience. We were there during a snow storm - the walks were no cleared and the drive was not plowed. Terrible customer service. I would not recommend staying at this hotel to anyone. I would have serious doubts about staying at any Howard Johnson in the future.

I have never had such a bad stay on a trip booked on Orbitz. the non smking room smelled of cigarette smoke, there were cigarette burn marks on the carpets, there were huge holes in the drapes, the internet does not work, and the staff did not have a clue about how to get it to work. I am so dissatisied, I want orbitz to return my money. I am not a whiner, and usually review places leniently, but this was BAD!

We ask for a king size bed, was told that they do not have king size beds.

The train that went by all throughout the night shook the room. The iron had some kind of paint on it so I ruined my shirt. The bed was small along with the room. This place was really cheap.

Close to downtown. This hotel was dirty, not attractive.

The Howard Johnson in Bnagor was very friendly and obliging, the room was great except mirrors were dirty, and night stand ,dresser, lamp bases and headboard were all dusty, Overlooking that my over all stay was great.I would reccommend it to any one.Very accomendating and friendly staff. Its also located across the street from Tim Horton Coffee shop, best coffee in USA and Canada!!!

Location. There were no queen sized or larger beds in the hotel. There were no beds larger then double. Very disappointing.

The check in was a breeze. The room was fine, although not particularly large. The full-sized bed was adequate. The glasses in the room were styrofoam cups. I expected better. My biggest complaint is that the bathroom sink took forever to drain. Apparently, the drain was clogged and not opened. This should have been apparent to the cleaning staff when making up the room and cleaning it after my first night.

It was clean and fairly comfortable. Planes from the airport went right over the hotel between 5:30 - 6:00 a.m.; they shook the room. This hotel had been updated and clean, but it was a definite one star. The bed was only a double for two of us. Two of the three nights we stayed, between 5:30 and 6:00 am several large planes took off consecutively from the airport and the whole room shook. There was a restaurant on the premises, but no free breakfast offered.
Date of Stay:
August, 2008
Beds were clean. It met the bare necessities, nothing extravagant, just a place to sleep for the night.
